Reconstruction

For a second, I thought today was Friday and that I'd missed the chance to celebrate my Hump Day...  what a relief, it's only Thursday.   Woohoo...
I did go for a 13.59 mile ride last evening.  Not bad.  I'm planning on riding again this evening.
My friend Steve, he's the one who runs about 100 miles a week... or I guess I should say ran, told me he thinks he may have done some sort of permanent damage to the tendons in his foot.  He'd pulled something a while back and gave it about 2 weeks to heal...  and then for a few weeks he'd tell me that once he starts running the pain goes away.  As someone who's had to recuperate from serious injuries I can tell you that never happens.  Yesterday he said he was probably going to be giving up running for good and focusing on cycling.  This is how life is, the question is will he learn his lesson in regard to cycling?
And, of course, now everybody knows about Boris and the Queen.  He's one of those fools who is so set in his beliefs he will do anything to make them come true, even destroy the British economy.  What he doesn't understand, and the chances of a no deal Brexit being in any way successful are slim, is that when this whole thing is over, if he's wrong, he may lose his head... maybe literally.  By then it may be too late for him to learn anything.
The Idiot Jerk's administration is making it more difficult for children of naturalized citizens born over seas to claim citizenship.  It's the purity of race shit they got going around inside their heads.  I checked, but I didn't see an corresponding policy in regard to foreigners having babies in the US.  You know, like the Russkies going to Florida in order for their children to have dual citizenship?
And, finally, the debate stage just got smaller.  It's about time!  I'm glad Steyer didn't make it.  We do not need another billionaire businessman in the oval office.  Now, all those who didn't make the cut need to run for the Senate.  There are 3 candidates getting double digits in the polls, Biden, Sanders, and Warren so I'd say the odds are good that one of those 3 will be the president to begin the reconstruction of America.

Things Change

Well, looks as though we're back to sweat pants and sweat shirt weather.  Today the high is only supposed to go up to 63 (F).  Monday and Tuesday we should hit the mid to upper 70's with some sunshine.  Today, though?  Overcast, drizzly, and cool is the forecast.
So I got to work yesterday and discovered that I had been told wrong, we weren't having tacos, rather nachos were on the menu... so to speak, and nachos do not a meal make... well, they do if you hear 4 or 5 pounds.  See, it was just nachos and salsa.  Thus my lunch consisted of nachos and a 'cup of noodles.'  Yummy.  Bet that has you all smackin' your lips just reading about it.
I see that the Idiot Jerk in the White House pissed off the French... and the British by farting stupidity during his NRA speech.  Anything and everything he says has one goal: for people to talk about him.  Does he care about France?  Or Britain?  Hell no.  But then he doesn't really care about America either.  His sole priority is getting his ego fed.  The country is being run by his advisers who have few other duties.  Those other chores consist of making sure Faux News is on every TV in the White House, and that there's plenty of canned, diet Coke on hand.
I do have a 'to do' list for my first of three days off, but it's not chock full of what I consider work.  I want to go to my Giant, I need to make an appointment to have my car inspected, and laundry is also part of the agenda.  I'd also like to dust and vacuum the upstairs.  This evening I'm going to go see "The Avengers."  Everybody I know who's seen it say it's very good.  One of my friends said to remember that this is only Part 1, and that Part 2 comes out next year.  Like most serials, I'm presuming bad things happen in 1 and then get rectified in 2.  I guess the real question is whether this movie is going to steamroll it's way to a billion dollars in two weeks.  Disney has become pretty much of a juggernaut when it comes to entertainment.  I can remember when Disney was the equivalent of pablum entertainment relying on saggy family films and milked down action films all of which had soppy endings with the company making most of its money from its theme parks.  My, haven't times changed.

Outrage in the UK!

I hope I wasn't the only one who realized that when the Idiot Jerk in the White House retweeted those Racist, Alt-Right videos the shit was going to hit the fan.  What was funny was that what I initially saw was a little, itsy, bitsy blurb which, after I clicked on it, seemed to explode across the Internet.  I mean, it went all over the world!  And only the Alt-Right was happy.  If I'm correct, there's a petition circulating in the UK to keep the Idiot Jerk from ever setting foot in the country again.  This fool is an ignoramus.  My money says that those retweets pretty much squatted down on his already terrible approval rating and dumped a steamy load.
Oh, and more joyous news for the Republicans!  They had to shelve the vote on the Senate version of their tax cut until today because... it was falling apart.  I understand it was short by 3 votes... deficit problems.  It seems as though in order for them to give tax cuts to corporations and the wealthy, they will need to eliminate benefits and raise taxes on those Red State people who need them the most... ahhh, now isn't that a shame.  But then this has always been a hurdle they can never get over, ever since they days of Ronald Reagan, where Trickle Down Economics ended up pissing on the lower and middle classes.
And what about Rex Tillerson leaving?  Word of this happening has been floating around for months... and he's being replaced by Mike Pompeo, a man who thinks like the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  This Fools Parade is just getting crazier and crazier - and is definitely not the way you win support or grow your shrinking base.

As for the Outrage in the UK, word is going around that a planned trip there by the Idiot Jerk has been put on hold - they say he was supposed to open a new US Embassy - until some future date.  And chance he had of meeting the Queen when he does go, if he goes, has pretty much been flushed down the shitter.  I'm sure his Administration is trying to provide him some solace for this loss by arranging for a quickie with his Bromo pal Vlad.
