Defining DeSantis

 Well, shall we give Tuesday a hearty welcome?  The sun is shining.  Our temps are supposed to reach the upper 70s (F).  I can see yardwork in my future for later this afternoon.  That's fine.  I enjoy being outside.

Yesterday work was rather ho hum.  Nothing exciting.  I did have a rather large sale to a gent who didn't want any seams in his carpet.  He ended up getting just about everything he wanted because he was the one spending the money.  He couldn't go completely seamless because of the size of his rooms, however I did manage to have the seams located in places where there wouldn't be a problem with foot traffic.  Truthfully, in all the time I've been working as a flooring specialist, we have never had a complete about the seams, either showing up, or coming apart.  Still, people hear seam and they automatically want to think the worst.

Production should be starting either today or tomorrow on the audiobook.  Even though I had requested permission to use song lyrics from artists, I have never received a response with either a yes or no.  Because they would be performed, albeit in a spoken voice, I either removed them completely, or drastically altered them so as to be unrecognizable to avoid any form of copyright infringement claims.

For those of you who don't realize this yet, Ronnie DeSantis is the portrait of the perfect Republican.  No matter how much evidence is present to him show the error of his ways, he is never going to understand how wrong he is in just about everything.  His feud with Disney is one example.  He is under the misguided belief that at its very heart America is conservative.  In true Republican fashion, he will never accept the fact that he is wrong.  He has stepped in a pile of shit and instead of cleaning off his shoe, he keeps stomping it down deeper and deeper into that conservative shit patty.  He is now saying he wants more judges like Clarence Thomas and Alito.  Has he paid absolutely no attention to how a majority of Americans have been voting since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade?  Evidently not.  Without a doubt, he is the definition of Republican.

Reasonable Enough

 Sunny Sunday has arrived.  Temps outside are climbing through the 50s (F) heading towards the low 80s (F).  That will be fine.  This coming week is more late spring-like than what we've been having here; no highs in the low 60s (F).  Of course, as we head into summer I am fully aware that Central Air season is also on it's way.  Since summer's my time for T-shirts and shorts, I'm part of the "bring it on" crowd.

And we did have rain yesterday.  More than I had been expecting.  Soaking showers for a good part of the afternoon.  Now the things I want to grow will start to grow again.

As expected, yesterday was oh... so... slow at the Flooring desk.  I'm actually reminded of what it was like five years ago when I was continuing my step down from management.  Things were slow back then.  There were the occasional customers, but nothing like the horde we were dealing with during the Covid years.  People are changing their priorities.  They are going to stick with their current flooring unless their carpeting, or vinyl, or laminate needs to be replaced.  They are now saying "I need," rather than "I want."

My Itoh peonies are beginning to bloom.  This is the first year that both bushes have had flowers.  One is a nice yellow, the other is more of a pale orange color.

And evidently Lauren Boebert is getting divorced.  Honestly, that should have been expected.  One question you have to ask is could this be happening because of marital issues, or because she just didn't want to be upstaged by Marjorie Taylor Green,.  I mean, they're both MAGA bimbos and this might be some sort of MAGA bimbo competition.  There is the possibility that Lauren might just have decided to upgrade her gun of choice, something with a little more wood in the stock.  That sounds reasonable enough, doesn't it? 

 

Scales

 Can you believe it's Thursday already?  At least it is in my part of the world.  I slept well.  I'm in a good mood.  I have a $23,000 flooring sale pending.  What could make life rosier?  Besides... to be honest, not having to spend 40 hours a week as a flooring specialist might put a pinker glow on my world.  And truthfully, that glow needn't be pink.  A nice, golden yellow would be nice.  

Oh, and speaking of yellow, my Itoh peony has bloomed.  For those of you who have never seen a yellow peony, here one is.  This handsome man took over 4 years to reach blooming maturity.  Well worth the wait, wouldn't you say?

I ordered a new kitchen scale and it arrived yesterday.  Since I need to watch my 'simple carbs,' I decided I should start watching everything: calories, carbs, proteins, sugars... you name it, at least for the time being.  I had an old Polder scale, but years of gathering dust had taken their toll.  Wait, that's not exactly true.  I used the little guy for cooking and baking when the recipes were in metric.

Can we talk about lose / lose situations?  Like the GOP.  Their sold their souls, lock, stock, and barrel to an Orange Anus because, as they say, "he tells it like it is."  Thanks.  Now we know they really don't like Democracy, or at least Democracy where people get to vote.  We know they care more about corporate donors and the 1% then they care about America.  We know they have no problem twisting mythology in any direction possible as long as they convince a small base of dedicated followers they are acting on a Higher Authority.  And, because of their actions, we also know they are a minority group bent on domination.  How do you treat a minority group.  You stomp them out.  You go to the polls, no matter how difficult they try and make voting, and vote them into obscurity.  The want you to forget January 6, remember it with anger and hold them responsible.  Do not let them tip the scales with their lies.

Good Things

 This is my weekend for a day, Saturday and Sunday all rolled up in one single Monday.  I had planned on mowing the lawn but, of course, a drizzle has begun.  Showers are in the forecast for the next several days.  The Temps are supposed to hang around in the mid 70's (F).  I'm not upset by the rain, but do wish I could get some lawn work finished.

When I was at the VA on Friday, I had a tetanus shot.  Since I hadn't had one in 20 or so odd years, they said I was due.  Surprisingly, there was no soreness... at all.  Could that be an indicator I still had antibodies racing through my blood stream.  This coming Friday, I go for my bloodwork.  I'll be interested in seeing if things have changed.  I've been borderline everything for years.

Seven years ago I bought three Itoh peony plants.  Planted at the same time, only one grew the first year, so I had thought the others had died.  To my surprise, a second sprouted the following year.  The third never saw the light of day.  Neither of the two surviving plants has ever bloomed... until this year.  I have buds!  I'm so pleased.  I'm going to have yellow peonies!  What a good thing this is!

Two Buds

As I was perusing through my news feeds this morning, I have to say I wasn't surprised to see some members of the Republican Party are looking at the voter restrictions some states are passing and beginning to feel more than a little trepidation.  Republicans hold dear their belief that if you making voting difficult, minorities will throw their hands up in the air and say, "voting is too much of a bother."  They see this belief as 'common sense,' rather then a prime example of systemic racism.  Unfortunately, their party is aging, and in Florida, as elsewhere, those senior citizens don't want to stand in line for an hour to vote.  They prefer to just mail in their ballot.  Oopsy.  Guess who's passing laws to restrict mail-in ballots?  They're cutting off their nose to spite their face.  And they will never admit that they're wrong.  This is a good thing.

LESSONS

What a difference a day can make.  Yesterday the temp hit 86 (F) and I turned on the ceiling fans, every one in the house.  We had a balmy, summer day right in the middle of spring.  I'm sure the mulch pit at the store was freaking busy.  Just about everybody buys mulch this time of year.  Today, however, the temp is going to hover around 48 (F) and there is a fine, misty rain which worsen until we have downpours later this evening.  In fact, the next 3 days are supposed to be shitty.  Wednesday, though, is forecast to be nice.  If this happens to be the case, I may take my new bike out on the road!
The Itoh peonies were planted south of Little Stonehenge (my description) and have been properly caged.  Never let your peonies run free!

I saw an interesting opinion this AM on Democrats using "impeachment" of the Idiot Jerk as a means of getting elected in the coming Blue Wave.  While author illustrated well the difficulties of impeachment, there is a greater lesson to be learned:  Don't Beat a Dead Horse.  The Republicans have never, ever learned this lesson which is why the Benghazi hearings seemed to run for an eternity.  The only people that waste of American tax dollars connected with were those already going voting for the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  They changed no opinions, yet those crazies on the right could not stop beating that dead horse.  The same thing with the Clinton email scandal.  The only ones angered about that were the ones who would vote Republican even if Stalin were on the ballot.  The only way to get this loser out of the White House is to make his life difficult.  Don't threaten him with impeachment... go after his finances.  Making his attorneys squirm is the key.  The loyalty the Idiot Jerk demands has always been purchased.  Put a better offer on the table and that loyalty will disappear.  This needs to be the difference between Democrats, Centrists, and Independents when dealing with Republicans.  They see an opportunity and pick up a club, when we see an opportunity we need to make a better offer.  We need to learn our lessons well.

Lack of substance

Well, it looks like the weekend is here.  How do I know?  The Idiot Jerk in the White House flew down to Florida for a game or two of golf.  I, myself, have to work today, of course I do have tomorrow off.  For the next three weeks they have me scheduled 40 hours each week.  Sorry, but this is spring and there's things I need to do, so I've started requesting one vacation day per week; 32 hours per week is fine for me.
I have this new bike, you know, that I want to ride outside, in the sunshine, over hill and Dale...  well, maybe not Dale, I don't know anyone by that name.
One of the many things I need to do is plant the new Itoh peonies I bought.

That's right, they're yellow.  My garden seems to be filling up with roses and peonies, which is fine with me.  Oh, and tulips and daffodils - I've got a boat load of each blooming every year.  There's also wisteria around the front porch which I'm probably going to rip out, and a holly bush down at the end of the sidewalk in need of some very serious trimming. 
And didn't the Stock Market like... well, tank yesterday?  Bloomberg has called it a horror week.  Oops.  But then what more could you expect from the Idiot Jerk.  He has lost several fortunes because of his flawed business principles.  His ethics are geared towards his personal greed.  For whom will a Trade War be most beneficial?  The country... or the Idiot Jerk.  What you really need to do is examine who's going to come out better financially.  Oh, and also keep in mind the Idiot Jerk has no sincere concern for the average American.  They are little more than fodder.
Time is running out and that Crazy Conservative group of minorities is totally clueless.  They've fudged the numbers so many times their fiction is now their preference.  Fiction is not solid.  Flexible words are easy to spin when they have little weight, or substance to ground them.
