Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Bidin' their Time

So I start my 6 day work week today.  I'm wondering how slow things are going to be, we're at that time of year, that fall lull in sales before Black Friday.  Oh, and we are having a Black Friday, however the sales are not going to be deep discounts they way they've been in the past.  No super duper specials.  Though they're still bringing in junk to clutter our aisles.  This will be interesting since that will be in the heart of Flu and Covid season.

And I did get my flu shot yesterday.  Hopefully that tick of one thing I might catch this fall.

Speaking of Covid, the governor of Missouri has it... so does his wife.  She had symptoms first.  Cases are continuing to rise here in the states.  Temps are beginning to cool off.  The Idiot Jerk is continuing to lie about the severity of this pandemic.  His followers still believe the damn thing is just going to go away.  Well, they may not understand this, but it did go away in the summer about as much as it was really ever going to go away.  And now it's on its way back because they don't like to wear masks.

Oh, and I guess that unless he wins the election, he's going to take his complaints to the Supreme Court, that's why he's trying to get this Cracker Jack Conservative installed on the bench as soon as possible, before election day is what he wants.  That would leave the Senate 35 days after the announcement is made on Saturday.  That might happen, but I suspect since Mitt Romeny said 'this year,' it isn't likely.  All most conservative Senators have wanted was a conservative court.  After confirmation, for many of them the Idiot Jerk becomes a handicap. I'm not saying there aren't a number of Right-Wing Nuts out there who desperately want a tinfoil dictator.  Many, I think, understand that chaos is only going to grow if he gets another term.  I many believe Biden's got this one in the bag, possibly by a landslide, and they're just bidin' their time.  I also think many of them understand that because of the Idiot Jerk, there's a good possibility they're going to lose the Senate.

And, if for some reason they do get a confirmation by Election Day, the Supreme Court has not been too friendly to the Idiot Jerk.  Perhaps because he calls them stupid.  When they don't give him what he wants he calls them failures.

As for the Breonna Taylor decision?  Why would you expect anything else from a Conservative Grand Jury.

Finally, I made whole wheat flat bread yesterday.

Burn the Bern

Thursday.
For those interested, I'm about halfway through the editing "The Body in the Well."  I'm trying to do a chapter a day (there are 35 chapters).  If I can keep that up,  If I can keep up this pace, my designated readers should start getting their copies in about 2 weeks... maybe a little sooner.  They are anxious.  I do tell them in all seriousness that no live snakes were killed in the writing of the book.
Something new I'm trying my hand at is growing a sweet potato... in one of my old coffee pots.

I'm excited.  It looks as though the foliage is purplish, of course that may change as it grows.  I have no idea since I've never done this before.
Mitt Romney voted to convict the Idiot Jerk.  The collective Republican establishment shit in their pants.  Someone broke ranks.  This is bad for them since he's very popular in Michigan, a state they are desperately need to win in 2020.  I'm not wild about Mitt, but I do think we should all give him a round of applause.  This is just one more nail in their coffin.
As I noted in one of my comments, what the nation did learn about Iowa is that the Democrats have a burning desire for a candidate who will clean the Republican shit off the doormats in Washington.  To do that we need to convince millions of Independent voters we know what we're doing, that we're a Centrist Party.  As the candidate field narrows, there are two who will not be able to do that:  Bernie and Warren.  Too far to the left.  At this point, I believe you can probably write off Warren, she just isn't make that big of a splash.  This leaves Bernie as our only concern.  Should he get the nomination, Independent voters will stay home rather than vote for his Socialist agenda.  And Bernie?  He does not care if he shits in our pie.  He's done it before, in 2016.  How long did we have to wait once Hillary secured the nomination for him to say in his small, bitter voice, "I support her."  His base was never on board.  Sure some of them turned out to vote.  But a lot of them held a grudge.  Bernie is one of the reasons we have the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  Should he get the nomination, we will have another 4 years of Republican tyranny.

The time has come to burn the Bern.

Wait and See

First of all a big 'thank you' to everyone who wished me (and the dogs) a great 2019... the year in which the Republican Party slices and dices itself in one horrific blood bath.  I saw in BBC where Mitt Romney has already thrown the first 'sucker punch.'    Isn't it funny how their boy Mitt loves the tax break which, as very, very wealthy man, benefits his bank account greatly.  He is a conservative, of course, which means he is an automatic member of the Party of My.
Yesterday I went down to York, PA to see my friend Betsy.  We had lunch at Panara and went to see a movie.  Initially I'd thought we might get tickets for "Vice."  However, the more I thought about it, the more I decided I was going to wait and rent it.  You see, even though it is a comedy and you do get a chance to laugh out loud at that imbecilic ass wipe, in the end nothing happens to him.  He doesn't go to jail.  He shoots another, very deserving conservative, in the face and gets away scott-free.  And it isn't like Cheney cares what people think, that they're going to be sitting in their movie seats laughing at him.  Hell, no.  As a conservative, and member of the Party of My, he doesn't care about people... nope, just himself.  His credo is, and always will be, 'I did it all... and I did it My Way.'
I'm thinking of buying a desk for downstairs for what used to be the dining room.  The upstairs computer is used for blogging, and playing games, and watch gaming Youtube channels.  Occasionally I do write upstairs, but mostly the writing and the research are done downstairs.  Yeah, I know it's weird.  It's easier to understand if you consider the downstairs writing is 'work' and that area is a 'work space,'  That work space is nice, but I think it's a bit cluttered.

The writing Room
Yes, you are seeing correctly, I write at an old kitchen table.  Storage space would be really nice.  Right now I find myself shuffling through notes looking for reminders of things that need to be either added, taken out, or revised.  I was looking at desks that were immense, some up to 76 inches wide, and they are all way to big.  So I've changed course, smaller, for once, might be better, and maybe kidney shaped.  That style would go much better with my Von Scheirholz porcelain.  We shall have to wait and see.

Portraits and plastic

So, what can I say?  I'm a sweaty eddy after this morning's ride.  That's right, it was dripping off my elbows and chin and splattering on the floor.  I've ridden 28.4 miles so far this week.  That's nice.  Good cardio.  Great for my legs.  Remember, you legs are the engines of your body.
Of course, after tomorrow I'm going to be on vacation, or a staycation as some call it.  A few days ago they were forecasting nice and sunny weather... well, that's changed.  Now I'm looking at days that are cloudy... with possible showers.
I'm thinking of planting tomatoes out side of the fence, and peppers.  I can't plant them inside because the dogs will eat them.
And I see where the Idiot Jerk was saying stupid things at the G6 + 1 asswipe.  He does this because he craves the attention.  He doesn't care whether he's lying or not, as long as people talk about him.  If he were Dorian Gray, I can't even begin to imagine what his portrait must look like.  At this point in his life, I can't believe there would be anything even remotely human on that canvas.  Can this be horror that is Dorian Trump?

Enough frivolity at the expense of our dumb shit president.
Oh, and I saw where Mitt R said the Idiot Jerk will be easily re-elected.  When you hear something like this from a failed presidential candidate, from a party that totally fails to understand America, it gives you reason to smile.  This is the guy needing to go through a primary election in Utah because he failed to get enough votes the first time around.  People aren't as dumb as he thinks.  I wonder what Mitt's portrait would look like.  He's already been realized in plastic.

One can only wonder what he'll look like rendered in oil.

Spring just might have arrived

Sunday... Sunday... Sunday, and I get to work.  My weekend starts tomorrow.  That means while a lot of you will be doing the Monday Morning Soft Shoe, I'll be... well, lawn work.  And I have to paint the trim in the dining room... and rehang the tapestry... and the art... and, of course, there are the draperies for some bit of privacy.  The last thing I want is for Chris next door, or his bearded tenant, watching me through the shrubberies as I dance naked through the dining room.
I saw that the people in Utah gave Mitt Romney a plate of shit.  Looks like there's going to be a primary in June to decide which Republican gets to run for the Senate.  A lot of people thought Mittens would hit a grand slam with the voters of that state.  Sadly for Mitt, he came in 2nd.  Oops.
And what about North Korea and their amazing announcement on ending their nuclear testing program?  Only a knucklehead would believe them, you know, like the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  Let's be honest here, this has a rather odorous smell, like a 3 day old open can of tuna.  Everyone needs to be on their toes.  Just like the Idiot Jerk in the White House, Kim Jung Whatever is not going to change.  There's no new leaf, no true olive branch.  If anything, the Idiot Jerk from North Korea will meet the Idiot Jerk in the White House believing he's they're 2 world dictators having a pow wow.
Anyway, I rode 7 miles this AM - and I was pleased.  This is the first time I was on the bike in 8 days, which is weird.  Hopefully tomorrow there will be more mileage.
And the weather is supposed to be nice.  I can't wait.  Spring might have finally arrived.
These are the days when I get to leave the back door open so the dogs can run in and out whenever they want.  Life is good.  Life will be great after November's Blue Wave.

Always a good laugh - CPAC

This year's CPAC ended yesterday and, as always, I did get a hearty chuckle out of listening to this conservative block party's speakers beat a dead horse.  You have to remember, those who attend are the diehards, those who wear the blinders, and those who have surrounded themselves with a bubble of denial.  They go to chew on the red meat thrown to them by the likes of Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin, not the slowly awakening awareness of Paul Ryan.  They don't understand Ted Cruz thinks the whole country is like Florida and by playing 'Stand your ground' he's going to go far.  He isn't, but that's beyond their ken.  They let that haus frau Sarah Palin, with her early 60's dated look, take the stage and ride another dead horse, Obamacare, even further into the ground.  Mitch McConnell took the stage brandishing a rifle.  A coonskin hat would have completed the parody, of course that's something the party loyalists will never understand.

Another Daniel Boone wanna-be

Every year CPAC holds a straw poll to vote for the most conservative, most Republican man they would like to see as president.  Notice I say man, not individual.  No woman has ever won.  Now tell me that doesn't sound sexist.  Anyway, this year Rand Paul won.  He won the straw poll last year, too.  If he wins it one more year you could say he's on a hot streak.  This is not a good thing for Rand.  Romney won it four times and failed in his bid for the presidency.  Rand's own father, Ron, won the same poll three times and his failed campaigns were pretty much the stuff jokes are made of.  If Rand does run, he will have to deal with the fact there are a lot of people out there who think of him as a word thief, thanks to his exploits in plagiarism.  Every word he speaks or puts out in print is going to be checked over and over again.  Most people in this country have a problem with those who steal.

Paul Ryan was the one voice which seemed to make any sense what so ever, of course he's been through the presidential campaign grind and is well aware of all the mistakes which were made.  He talks about a more inclusive umbrella in which the party diversifies it's constituents.  He's on the right track.  Of course, he was playing to the wrong crowd.  All this group wanted to do was gnaw on their bones of hate.  They are killing the GOP.
