Social Conservative

 Well, as of 0400 we went into a snow warning and here it is 3.5 hours later and nary a flake is in sight.  A quick look at the weather radar map indicates that most of the precipitation is falling south of us and possibly, by 0930 we will have flurries.  The longer it takes for this to arrive, the less snow we're likely to get.  Crap.  And here I was thinking I'd wake up to a winter wonderland and right now all I'm wondering about is when the snow is finally going to land.  Supposedly, our heaviest snowfall will happen between 2 and 6 PM, when I'm at work... or was supposed to be at work.  

Yesterday was one of those meh days.  I had a zoom call scheduled for 3 in the afternoon with my Navy buddies.  Oddly enough, scheduling calls, or for that matter scheduling anything can easily throw off my day, mostly because it gives me a reason to procrastinate.  My reasoning is that I don't want to start something and then have to interrupt what I'm doing and thus I have a reason to do nothing but wait.

The call went well.  However, they're talking about getting together for a reunion somewhere in the middle of the country.  During that part of the conversation I was mostly quiet.  I enjoy the Zoom calls, it's nice to chat for an hour with men I've known for over 50 years, but spending one or two days with them?  We have all changed so much.

In spite of my procrastination yesterday, Howie had a busy a day.

So, I had an interesting text session with my brother yesterday.  He's 61, had been laid off from his job about 6 months ago.  About a month ago he was hired by New York Life.  Oh, and he works in IT, usually as part of a Help Desk team.  I asked him if he was concerned about the Orange Anus' flip on H-1B visas and... I kid you not, he didn't really know what I was talking about.  Being a social conservative he voted for Orangey, and like so many social conservatives can simply not comprehend that Orangey played his Evangelical base like a 2 bit whore.  I asked him about staffing at New York Life and he told me that about 70% were Indian and 15 % were Mexican.  I told him that he really needs to start paying attention to what's going on.  He simply does not understand, but I'm sure he does pray daily, probably more than once.

Update on the weather:  It is now snowing heavily, so I'm going to stay home and bake a loaf of bread.

Howie's Vet Visit

 It did rain again last night.  Every drop helps.  The outside temp is in the upper 40s (F) and is only expected to climb a few degrees higher.  According to the forecast, at least some amount of rain should be falling over the next three days.  I hope they're right.

Yesterday was... sort of fun, sort of meh, sort of maybe I should just take a nap.  This is how most Tuesday's are turning out after I work the weekend and Monday.  It's not that I'm tired, it's just that everything seems to be a chore.  Adding to that is the fact that I didn't sleep that well Monday night.  My Garmin watch, which tracks my sleep indicated that I had slept poorly, and that my body battery hadn't replenished nearly enough, and that it was going to be a ho-hum kind of day.

I got my water bill yesterday.  That little leak I had in the bathroom wasted around 700 gallons.  That will give you an idea as to how bad it was.

Howie did have his first Vet visit yesterday and it went well.  He has a slight entropy on his right eye, that means the eyelashes on his bottom eye are sort of turning in and scratching his eye.  It's not serious.  In fact, his new vet said that it's quite probably the issue will fix itself as he gets older and his head grows   Stat wise, he weighs 30 pounds, or 13.5 kg.  His final weight will be around 80 pounds, or 36 kg.  She recommended that he go from puppy chow to large adult dog food, so a bag has been ordered from Chewy.  Here's a blurry pic from the Vet.

And if you haven't been paying attention, Social Conservatives are furious over Trump's choice to have Kennedy run the Department of Health.  He's pro abortion.  I suppose he feels that he's not going to need anymore Evangelical votes.  And Dr. Oz to handle Medicare and Medicaid?  Seniors prepare to pay more for your health care.  And for those who don't understand, those tax dollars which should be going to benefit Americans, will be used to offset another big tax break for billionaires.

There are joyous things happening if you look for him.  Yesterday the Orange Anus and Elonia were down in Texas to watch one of Elonia's rockets launch and... it exploded.  This is what's called symbolism, or, possibly foreshadowing.  Maybe it's a combination of both.  

Elonia slashed the workforce at Zitter, the dying social media platform, because he needed those dollars to help pay off that $40 billion dollar loan he took out to buy it.  Stupidly, he's going to try and do the same thing with the American economy.  He and Orangie have about the same IQ, a little below average, and that shared stupidity will come back to haunt them.

Unfiltered

The temps in Central PA hit 93 (F) yesterday.  That's hot... not quite stinkin' hot, but hot enough to make you sweat.  Forecasters are predicting temps in the high 80's for today, of course, forecasters are not known for their accuracy.  Most of them are not aiming for a home run, they're just happy to get it in the ballpark... which means they can only used generalized terms, like 'sunny and warm,' or 'sunny and hot.'

My plans for today?  Finish the paint of the stair case trim.  I will be glad.  The tank is also supposed to be delivered today, as is the filter.  I'm going with an inline filter rather than something that hangs off the back of the tank.  I've never liked those.

And I want to go for a ride this afternoon.  Monday is a designated rest day for me.  How far will I ride today?  There's a section of the Corsica ride I haven't covered yet.  That's a possibility.

And, of course, there are more firestorms raging around the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  White Power, anyone?  That little video is just another nail in his coffin, as if there weren't enough nails in it already.  Now they're saying he posted that Tweet and then went... golfing, and his allies couldn't reach him  to tell him to take it down.  Yep, that's right, golfing... again.

And, of course, now officials are saying he was given a written brief back in January regard those Russian bounties.  Now, how much of a waste of time was that.  The Idiot Jerk in the White House doesn't read.  The only way he learns anything is if hears it on Fox and Friends...  Don't you find it surprising he hasn't given them Top Secret clearance so they can keep him informed?

And, of course, his administration has filed a lawsuit in PA regarding mail in ballots.  Mail boxes, you know?  Totally unsecured.  This is true.  I was truly surprised during this past primary to see all those scurrilous people in their MAGA hats prowling around mail boxes trying to steal ballots.

And, of course, the Supreme Court handed the Social Conservatives another loss yesterday.  That's 3 in a row.  Roberts voted against them because of precedent.  They are not going to overturn what they have already passed.  This means the Idiot Jerk has struck out 3 times in their books.  Now, ain't that a shame... for them.

And, finally, don't know if you've heard or not, but there's a Cracker Jack Crazy network called God TV.  Supposedly it's based in the UK, but it's broadcasting licenses are held by a group in Florida.  Well, Israel has just kicked them out.  When they initially filled out their application, they stated they were aiming their broadcasts at Christians in Israel.  Well, they lied.  Now, isn't that a surprise... from Evangelicals.  Anyway, it seems as though their main focus is on converting Jews to Christianity.  Israeli Jews.  Ouch!!  Israel is shutting them down (deep belly laugh).

Souls for Sale

Well here it is, Monday and I get to go back to work.  Now I know there are a lot of people out there for whom today is a holiday.  Not for me.  They're jumping around all skitty happy because they have a 3 day weekend.  That's nice, because while they will all we working on Friday... I'm off.  No work.
Anyway, my dining room ceiling is nearly complete.  Just one more coat of paint and the job will be finished.  I think it looks nice.  I am seriously debating on whether or not I should replace the ceiling fan since it's 30 years old.  I usually only the use the fan in either the spring or the fall, during those days when it's cool enough that I don't need the Central Air, and warm enough that I don't need to turn on the heat.  I will have to wait and see on that one.
Oh, and I saw this interesting article this AM on how Social Conservatives have been selling their souls to the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  I've been saying this for some time.  For them, it's not about faith or belief, rather their focus is mostly on dictating control.  The fact that their killing their religion doesn't even occur to them.  They don't understand that the Idiot Jerk in the White House gives them what they want because they praise him, they love him, and they bow their heads in his presence... well, I don't know for sure that they do that last one.  Hhhmmm, yeah, my money says they do.
Oh, and in case you didn't hear, Gates is going to plead guilty... and then drive a stake into Manafort, who probably puke up some sort of plea bargain to keep from going to jail... and losing all of his money.  The dominoes are beginning to fall.
Bloomberg pointed out how the Idiot Jerk was blaming everybody but Russia, in fact the Idiot Jerk shrieked a Tweet about how Russia was laughing their asses off... and they are... at him.  He is exactly what they wanted in the White House: a total fuck up.

On a side note, Bob Casey Jr, PA Senator, asked that Mueller not do any indictments close to election day.  I can understand why.  Just imagine if Donny Jr. was indicted 3 weeks before the election.  All of those Social Conservative souls bursting in to flame at one time?  Talk about a conflagration.  You might not be able to get to the polls for months after that.

Waiting for the Third Strike

Well, here it is, Friday, the first of my two consecutive days off... and boy is it cold outside!  According to Accuweather, the current outside temperature is 12 (F) or -11 (C).  No matter which temperature scale you use - it's frigid!  And, of course, the Idiot Jerk in the White House snidely Tweeted something about Global Warming.  I'd say he's an old fool but since I already know he's an Idiot Jerk that would be rather redundant, wouldn't it?  Won't it be interesting to see how his heirs deal with Mar-a-Lago going under faster than the Titanic on a really, really bad night. 

I have no doubt that the vast majority of his supporters totally agree with him, but that's the kind of consensus you get from one dimensional thinkers.
Since Social Conservative's theology prevents them from acknowledging even the possibility of Global Warming, especially in that man might himself be a factor, they are right there with him.  They don't understand that Karma, or Judgment, or what ever you want to call it is coming for them.  And it's not like they haven't been warned, you know?  Remember Joel Osteen and his total lack of compassion, his total disregard for humanity in the wake of a storm of Biblical proportions?  Not one of these Social Conservatives took a stand and publicly called him out.  Well, that was strike one.  And all of those white Social Conservatives celebrating and supporting Roy Moore and his total contempt for humanity?  That was strike two.  You can believe me, the Universal Pitcher is winding up, preparing to throw another fast ball right in front of their noses.  They might hit it out of the park... nah, we already know that's not going to happen.  It's not in their self-centered, self-appointed superior nature.  Right now, all we're waiting for is that final, third strike.

The Selfish Nature of the Social Conservative

So, I saw this article this morning and thought I'd talk about it a little.  America, we have a problem.  You see we have something called the First Amendment and there are a number of people out there who don't like it.  They believe we should have a National Religion, which would happen to be theirs.  They call themselves Social Conservatives and they represent the ugly head of selfishness.  You see for them, their most favorite pronouns are "I," followed by "my."  For them "you" can be a really negative word because "you" is about someone else.  These Social Conservatives have allowed their beliefs to evolve to a stage where "you" is not even secondary.  Since they don't believe in evolution they would never understand this, but evolve they have.  And they like the Constitution, but only as long as it lets them be as selfish as possible.  They don't like it when "you" means everybody.
These Social Conservatives want to change rules and create regulations that benefit themselves, alone.  They want to be able to say that "my beliefs say I can fire you from your job because my beliefs are more important than you as a human being."  The truth is they don't care about human beings at all, unless those human beings share the same beliefs.  These Social Conservatives want to be able to discriminate, not only against sexual orientation, but against race and nationality.  They don't want to give immigrants the chance to possibly dilute, either socially or culturally, the purity of their own beliefs.  You see, it's not just the jobs they claim immigrants will take, it's the very blood coursing through their veins which these Social Conservatives need to keep out.
They will never understand how wrong they are, to even consider such an action would be to challenge the very soul of "I."

Social Conservative Porn

Saw an interesting bit in the LA Times this AM regarding James Woods, the crazy to the Right has been actor.  Evidently he announced his retirement from acting, one of the reasons given was his difficulty getting hired because of his... political views.
And, for those who missed it, yesterday, a 70 year old, white, social conservative published his version of Christian Porn.  Yep, Jeff Sessions published 25 pages of the stuff.  Evidently he "consulted" with a  Crazy to the Right Legal team in an attempt to legally cement their hatred towards... well, everybody who doesn't believe what they believe.  The second after publication members of the LGBT community started shouting and waving their red flags, however it effects so many, many more people. because it lets people who have certain beliefs say "no."  This Sessions' porn allows them to inflict pain and suffering simply by saying "it's against my religion."  One's own personal beliefs become the caretaker of discrimination.  If you're a minority, any minority, they can refuse to serve you, to provide help in your times of need.  This Sessions' porn allows certain people to look you in the eye and say "you have no worth."  It gives them the ability to ostracize whomever they choose.  For example, say you just happen to be a straight, Catholic couple who go to a baker who happens to believe that Catholics are phony, that they're false Christians, that baker can refuse to bake their cake because he believes they worship idols.  This Sessions' porn not only opens the door for legal discrimination, but for legal segregation as well.

And, of course, there are voices out there saying that this porn lacks specificity, that because of its generalized details, this thing will be tied up in the courts for years.  That's precisely what these haters want.  You see, they don't mind waiting until the Idiot Jerk in the White House loads the courts with enough like-minded haters who will constitutionalize and legitimize this hatred.
