Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

The Man in the Hat

So, I'm off today.  If you missed my little Yippee Skippy dance, I'm sorry.  I'd do it again but, unfortunately, I've too much shit to get done.
Stupid customers started crawling out form under their rocks yesterday and I was on the verge of turning delectably dour when... my shift ended and I got to go home!
Let's see:  there was the man with the crappy phone connection who called to see if we could make a stair runner out of carpet he had left over from an install quite a number of years ago (I looked in the system and he was no longer listed which means it was over 10 years ago).  He didn't like my response... so he asked me about ceiling tile he purchased in 2015.  He got a bit upset when I told him they were only available for purchase from Armstrong, not through the store since we no longer carry that style.
Then there was the woman who called and wanted me to go over her install quote over the phone.  I told her we prefer customers to come into the store and she laid down the law.  "I'm partially handicapped so that's next to impossible."  Of course, she did not have an email copy of the quote and there were issues... many, many issues: there were charges for dismantling platform beds... 3 of them, and wall units, 2 of them (and I'm looking a pictures because our measure techs take pictures of problems).  I pointed out one piece of furniture she said "well, that's just an armoire and it's only a little over 6 feet high (and easily over 4 feet wide).  I did some changes and emailed her a copy of the quote.  I did some changes and emailed her a copy...   She's going to mull over the install.
And then there was the man in the hat.  A tall, black gentleman asked me to cut some blinds for him, on the way to the blind cutter another older, white gentleman stopped me.  "I need information on indoor and outdoor tile." I explained I was going to cut blinds and called another associate, "we have a customer in the tile aisle who has questions about indoor and outdoor tiles."  After cutting the blinds, I was heading towards the flooring desk when the associate I had called stopped me.  "There's no one in the tile aisle."  I looked down the tile aisle... no one there, so I headed back to the Flooring Desk.  As I was getting ready to sit down, I saw the gentleman in the hat had returned, so I went up to him to see if I could help.  "I've been waiting here for an hour," he growled.  Me?  I pulled out the store phone and checked the time I'd called the other associate.  "I'm sorry, but I called for assistance a little over 5 minutes ago, and you weren't in the tile aisle when he got there."  Well, he didn't like that.. at all.  I tried helping him.  Every answer I gave me was wrong.  He objected to everything... because it wasn't what he wanted me to tell him.  "I'll ask at your Pro Desk, they'll have the answers," he said, very angry.  I looked at his hat, and I looked at him, and smiled.  "They're closed on Sunday."  He stormed away.  This is the mentality that voted for the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  That little MAGA hat he wears exemplifies complete failure, and in his mind we are the ones responsible for his being a dumb fuck.

Watch Your Back

Well, it's Monday morning.  This is going to be my hump day at work.  Wouldn't it be nice if I could say it's all fun and games?  It isn't.  I had to deal with some stupid people yesterday, but then isn't that normal.  Like the customer and his wife who returned blinds because they didn't fit.  He claimed that he'd measured the window and the blinds didn't fit.  Rather than remeasure the window to verify he had the right size, he measure the blind: 34 7/16 inches.  I explained to him that the way we cut blinds does not provide us with that kind of precision cut, and that usually there is a 1/4 inch variation.  That's when I found out I was talking to an over wrought wall.  His frustration abounded.  His old blind was different.  The end caps on the blind he and his wife had returned were thicker than those on the old blind.  Why did they have to change the thickness of the end caps?  If they hadn't changed them, the blinds would have fit.    Now they needed blinds cut to 34 7/16 inches.  This man was totally out of touch with reality.
Then there was the woman who wanted to put 'peel and stick' floor tiles on her wall... and couldn't understand why we didn't have matching trim so she could frame out her door.  "What do you mean they don't make a matching trim?!"
Believe me, the bus load of crazies pulled into our parking lot yesterday.
Oh, and the Idiot Jerk made a 'potty tweet' about Adam Schiff.  He is such a ass.  He is a true representative for the Republican Party.  For those who don't know, he will try and consolidate the hatred.  He's already trying to get his wagons into a protective circle.  Those who might represent some semblance of order will be out.  He'll fire them.  He likes to fire people.  Firing people gives him a sense of the power he so desperately wants.  He wants to replace them with people who will cut throats, and stab in the back.  But then, few should be surprised.  He is, after all, one of the greatest backstabbers in America.  He will, given the chance, stab his on spawn in the back.  Donnie Jr?  Watch you back, bud.

Oops... too late.

Daily Chores

Okay, so it's Tuesday.  I'm scheduled off today - that doesn't mean I'm not going to do things.  Basically, this is a clean, clean, do laundry day.  These are the chores I do on my day off.  While I will do the dishes everyday, the big stuff is put on hold till I'm off.  Not that it takes that much longer.  These are just the things I enjoy the least.
They are forecasting cloudy skies which I can deal with.  The temp is comfortable outside, though humid.  Central air is off, and the ceiling fans are still on.  If I get the chance, I might even do my nails 🙄.
So, we had another stupid customer at the paint desk:  she owns a 'rental unit,' her term for a townhouse with tenants.  One set is moving out and another is moving in.  There were stains on the bedroom carpets and she wanted to replace them.  She picked the cheapest carpet we install, and the cheapest padding and made her purchase, a carpet which is guaranteed to get installed in 3 days.  A day after putting this install on her credit card... she changed her mind.  She decided the stained carpet in one of the bedrooms weren't that bad, and her new tenants could just live with them.  She also complained about the last tenants, how they left the place a mess... now you know why.  Anyway, she called too late.  The carpet had already shipped.  If she didn't want to go through with the install on one of the rooms, she'd have to pay a 20% restocking fee (the carpet was already cut).  We had to deal with her complaining about fairness, and how the customer was always right, and how she was going to go to our competitor.  In the end, she chose not to pay the restocking fee.  The install is going through.  Her new tenants are going to get new carpet in both bedrooms.  These are the chores we deal with at work.

Funny thing, as I was looking for clip art for today's post, I came across a chore list that included 'morning prayers.'  I'm sorry, but if you consider your daily devotions a chore, you should probably re-evaluate your faith.
And finally, one of my daily chores is checking out my news feeds.  Sometimes they make me laugh, sometimes they piss me off.  This AM I saw in the WSJ a report on tariffs on car imports is being delayed (Ha Ha).  We have a lot of car dealers selling imports... ouch!  And in a desperate attempt to keep the Coal Industry alive in West Virginia, the EPA is permitting states to set their own emissions standards (this is shit).  Power plants are running away from coal as fast as possible, however this administration's 1950's viewpoint doesn't see that.
