Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

DEI hires

So the forecasters were wrong yesterday, we barely cracked the 30 (F) degree mark.  The sun shone brightly most of the day and that helped get rid of the snow, but temperature wise we were still cold.  Today, if they are hopefully correct, out temps should climb up into the mid 30s (F).  Tomorrow?  If we're lucky, we will hit the 40s (F).  That will seem like a heatwave.

I got pretty much done yesterday, including a decent cleaning of the big aquarium in the writing room.  On of the Greek statues has been removed and is waiting to be scrubbed clean.  I've had that tank for a while and enjoy it, however it's not glass and scratches easily when you're scrubbing algae from the sides.  So, I'm thinking of either downsizing to a smaller tank or getting rid of it completely.  Possibly, I might get rid of the big tank and move the 30 gallon tank from the living room there.  I've been mulling over these ideas for a while, all I have to do is wait and see which one comes to fruition.

I do get to work today.  Can you read the excitement in my words?  Home Improvement retail is a good barometer for reading the general public.  You can tell which people pay attention to what is going on in Washington from those who are... detached.  For example, if I was an Asian working in the United States who wasn't here on an H-1B visa, I wouldn't spend $3000 on new blinds for my house.

And yesterday was big for Howie!  He got a new box of toys from Chewy!  It was part of a buy 4 get one free deal.  All of them are made by Kong, which means they're going to be very durable.

And a Christian Nationalist is now in charge of America's military, one of the greatest military forces in the world.  Old Petey Hegseth has never managed any more than 100 people at a time.  He is also a man who will do what ever the Orange Anus tells him to do.  We can only wonder how long it will be until the United States invades Greenland.  We can only wonder how long it will be until he makes a catastrophic blunder which causes the entire world to sanction us, because that's going to happen.  Also, for those who don't know, Christian Nationalists are not at all appreciative of other Christian Faiths, so how long do you think it will be before, oh, let say the Episcopalians get attacked.

It's my understanding that individuals considered DEI hires in the Federal Government are being let go, not surprisingly many of them appear to be Women of Color.  The faster they get dismissed, the fast the unemployment rate goes up.  Believe me, that sucker is going to go so high people are going to believe it has wings.

My Evil Laugh

Holy Crap!  I slept over 8 hours, and when I woke up the skies were overcast and I could hear the tip, tip, tip of a steady drizzle.  Temp wise, we might hit the 80 (F) degree mark... maybe.  Tomorrow, it will be warmer with the chance of thundershowers.

On my day off, I managed to get much done.  The lawn has been mowed, the tank in the living room cleaned, and I got an hour in on the bike, over 15 miles.  I'm pleased with that.  There was also time for gaming, and reading.  I'm reading 2 books right now, one on the history of Delphi (I figured I should brush up), and Three Body Problem, the book Netflix turned into a series.  When I tell people I'm reading 2 books at the same time, they they give me one of those odd looks, not understanding it's easy for me to keep both separate in my head.  I'm also working on my 8th book; Eli and Max are about to discover the body in history.  Are the gods working with them, or against them?  Is Apollo watching over them?  Or am I just bullshitting?  Hahahaha (for those who don't know, that's my evil laugh).

Since I've been watching Shogun, the idea has been tippling through my head that I might want to learn a little Japanese.  I've already been to Japan and at this point don't picture myself making a return visit, but I've always had a fondness for the culture.

I made ribs and rice for dinner.  It was tasty.

Being that I was so busy yesterday, I didn't pay much attention to what was going on in the world of politics, and being perfectly honest, I'm am not at all curious in Hunter Biden's trial since I suspect many of his problems spring from his inability to deal with the fact that his dad loved Beau more.

I did see some sort of bunga bunga about Mikey Johnson calling on the Supreme Court to overturn Trump's conviction.  Hahahaha (evil laugh again).  While the Cracker Jack Crazy branch would love to do such a thing, they don't really have that kind of power, still, Mikey does know what the Cultists want to hear.  What's even more funny is that Christian Nationalists have convinced themselves they're doing this for the God they've designed.  You know who I'm talking about, the deity who created the Universe.  Unfortunately, their universe is defined not in size, but by what they can grasp and control.  Religious zealots have always had this problem, the ability to actually comprehend, which is why they're working so hard to keep people stupid.

Destined for Failure

Outside there is a constant drizzle.  It's a rainy Sunday, so I slept in a bit longer than usual.  This happens sometimes.  The weather is not supposed to improve until sometime later this afternoon.  I work, so that'll happen when I'm sitting at the flooring desk.

I worked yesterday.  That's when the drizzles began.  When I got to the store at 1 PM, the store was relatively busy and thought, "gee, this is what the day's going to be like," and it was for about an hour.  My first customer was difficult.  A man in his late 40s, possibly early 50s, who was replacing the carpet in his bedroom with cheap vinyl planks.  He'd been in last Sunday and dealt with one of my fellow associates.  The reason he was replacing the carpet?  His girlfriend was angry that he spilled wax on the bedroom carpet.  I heard that line last week, and I heard it again yesterday.  Right.  He felt it was important for me to know that the carpet was in his bedroom, and that he'd spilled candle wax on it (doesn't come out), and that he was doing this for the "girlfriend."  He asked many of the questions he'd asked last week.  Wanted to know why the installation might take 2 weeks (his transition piece needed to be ordered), and why we no longer stored everything in massive warehouses.  Every explanation I gave him got the same response, "well, I just don't understand why it's not done this way," or "that doesn't make sense to me."  In the end he purchased, and since his installation was small, one room, I had him take most of the product he needed when he left.  Except for the transition piece, so I told him to call Tuesday, when I wasn't working, so we could give him an ETA on that piece.

Every now and then my fish do things that are interesting.  Here's my algae eater doing his job on the thermometer in my tank.

So, will America end up having a religious war?  There are times when I feel both the Conservatives and the Christian Nationalists want one.  In a weird way, both of them seem to think they have God behind them, and that's got me to thinking.  Have Christians ever actually won a war for Christianity?  All you need to do is look at the Middle East today to see that the Crusades were a terrible failure.  And it doesn't take a push coming to shove for them to fight other Christians, look at Northern Ireland.  Maybe someone should just sit them down and tell them to cool it because no matter how hard they believe, they're destined for failure.
