Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Old and New

I can't think of a better way to say this then to blurt it out.  I go back to work today!

I've already taken my temp 96.6 (F).  This means that when I give you the cold shoulder, I give you the cold shoulder.  And, I've done my health check.  No, I don't have Covid.  I do know when I get there I will find lots, and lots of candy, which means once again I'll working on my inverted hour glass figure.

This morning, I also stepped on the scale for the first time since I began my little staycation.  Up 3 pounds.  No matter how many times I tell myself I cook without calories, my little scale always proves that to be false.

Last evening I ordered myself a  new computer desk.  Nothing fancy.  Not like my writing desk downstairs.  At present, I'm using my grandmother's old make-up table, which means it's very old.  There used to be a mirror attached to the back, however that disappeared long before I took ownership.  For those who don't know, Riding On gets written upstairs on my Cyberpower gaming PC, which is also where I pay my bills, and play some of my games, as well as read the news feeds I get.

Old Desk

The writing of the books, my taxes, my language courses, and odds and ends are done on my new desk downstairs.

New Desk

And, of course, the impeachment came to an end yesterday.  The dead Republican Party, or at least most of them, have chosen to bury themselves with their wannabe tinfoil dictator.  McConnell voted to acquit: he said he though the procedure was unconstitutional, but then he ripped Trump a new asshole, proving he has neither a chin nor a spine, only a bony thistle he calls a heart.  This is really all about power.  Those choosing to nail their souls to the failed president only see the 74.2 million votes he received.  The fact that moderates and independent voters are running for the hills doesn't make it into their rivaled little consciousness.  They are guilty of the same old shit they've been charged with before.  And get ready.  They're going to get crazier as they continually move towards their own extinction.

Big Snow Flakes and Big Balls

My weekend is over.  That's right, I get to go back to work... today.  If I didn't like getting my paychecks so much, I'd go part-time, but let's be honest here, that deposit into my accounts every 2 weeks is really rather nice.

One of the unfortunate things I'm going to need to do this morning is do my daily Health Check.  You'd think that by now going on line and filling out a very short survey should have become part of my routine.  It hasn't.  Even though there is a post-it note hung from the bottom of my monitor, I sometimes forget. There must be some sort of Freudian slip happening.

I received an email yesterday stating that my treadmill had reached its 'destination city,' which is apparently Middletown, which is about 17 miles away.  According to the information they gave me, Estes should be calling to set up a delivery date.  Will this new piece of equipment be here before Christmas?  That would be nice.  I'm off on the 24th and 25th, which would give me time to get it assembled.

And for those with an interest, here's a pic of my winter tree.  I have a set of miniature skis coming tomorrow, and next to be ordered: a hockey puck and a 2 different sets of ice skates.  What really stands out right now are the snow flakes and the big balls... oh, and the fact that I haven't decided what I want to use as a tree skirt.

Of course, there are other flakes in the world besides the snowy kind.  Ken Paxton, the AG from Texas is good example.  He's ignoring the state courts and taking his suit against the 4 battleground states directly to the Supreme Court.  16 additional Republican AG's have jumped on board?  Woah, we have a bit of a storm brewing here.  I understand the Idiot Jerk in the White House has asked another Texas Flake to plead their argument should the Supreme Court decide not to just flush this turd.  They don't seem to understand how big of a failure this will be if the Supreme Court they desperately tried to stack chooses not to hear their claim.  Ouch!

Whine and Cheese

The weather yesterday started off... well... okay, but then the sun came out.  However, for those who didn't know, it was Friday... the 13th.  The nuts were out shopping.  Well, let me correct myself, the nuts were out.  They were calling the Flooring Desk.  One of them had set up a measure over the phone.  This person has never been in the store.  Never looked at flooring.  This person wants hardwood.  He only wants it on his staircases (slip, trip, and fall hazard).  He wants Brazilian Cherry.  Sorry, it's unavailable, probably because there's a dictator in Brazil who's burning down the rain forests.  The only thing that resembles Brazilian Cherry is a Pergo laminate... in no way being close to hardwood.  And I, had the joy of explaining this to him... over the phone because he has never been in the store. Oh, and his staircases are going to cost him over $4000.  Boo!

Management gave me a cute little red bag with a blue ribbon on it - my Veterans Goody Bag.  Lots of little snacky things and a card signed 'Mgmt.'  The gesture was nice, but I had to chuckle at the 'Mgmt.'

Also, beginning Monday, we need to do our Health Check on either a computer or smart phone before we get to the store, otherwise the timeclock will not let us punch in.   I'm certain there are a number of associates who feel this is an attack on their constitutional rights to do what ever they want.  Many still do not believe the seriousness of the situation simply because of our Failed President.

I find it interesting that Biden's total Electoral College votes are a mirror image of what the Idiot Jerk received 4 years ago.  This is a sign, you know.  We are escaping from the ugly, fascist wonderland of the Idiot Jerk, back through the mirror before it breaks.

Evidently the White Supremacists are going to protest the Idiot Jerk's loss today.  I'm betting they bring their guns.   In case you didn't know it, they are the cheese to his whine.  What whine you ask?  This whine.

From the Land of Dark Shadows

We had on and off drizzles yesterday, the temps were fairly comfortable, but there was humidity.  The forecast is the same for today.  The only difference?  I go back to work.
Here's a little irony.  I pay around $65 a year for NBC Sports Gold to watch cycling.  Yesterday, about 2 hours into the Stage 4 of the Tour de France, my TV went black.  Son of a bitch.  The TV was working, no problem there, so I went back into NBC Sports and got the following message:  "You have an update to this App."  Fifteen minutes.  I skipped the update since I had that option.
I put in a new threshold yesterday at the back door.  Easy Peasy.  Took me about 15 minutes.  Shame they couldn't have sent the notice about the update earlier.
Today's the first day I am required to do a Health Check before I can punch in to go to work.  I take my temp and fill out a survey while I'm at home.  Then, upon entering the store, I need to stand in front of a camera which will take my temperature.  If I have a fever of 100.4 (F) they send me home.  This doesn't bother me, though I'm fairly certain there are those Republicans in the building whom it will infuriate.  Good.
In spite of all the Idiot Jerk's machinations against mail in voting, his campaign is targeting his supporters, encouraging them to do just that.  Now the White House is saying it's only Universal mail in voting, where the states send out ballots to everybody, that's a problem.  He has no problem if his supporters vote by mail.  Excuse me, but didn't he just shit in his pants?
And what about the interview with Laura Ingraham?  Wasn't that a shit show?  I do believe the Idiot Jerk even surprised Laura with his decent in to Crazy Land.  Even she questioned his comparing the shooting of a man in the back by a police officer to choking on a putt in golf.  That was before she quickly cut to a commercial break in order to change the subject.  Maybe he was subconsciously vocalizing his belief that a putt is really nothing more than a mini-stroke.  Ouch.
And what about the Dark Shadows?  I sent my brother a text asking if, when the Idiot Jerk was talking about a plane full of thugs, (and now fascists), he was really talking about Barnabas.  Oh, dear Lord save us!  Was that unknown city Collinsport?  Was Roger Collins piloting?  Heaven help us if Angelique was one of the flight attendants!

Or, is he really dealing with dementia brought on by a series of Mini-Strokes?
