Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Werewolf by Night

Friday.  Outside there is dense fog, luminescent beneath the morning sun.  I'm sure driving must be a bitch.  Fog warnings were sent out.  I'm staying put, at least until later in the day.  Then, I may go put gas in the car... or I may not.

On Wednesday I had lunch with my cousin Robin.  She's a few months older.  The two of us are the oldest of the Snyder grandchildren from my parent's generation.  One of the topics of conversation that came up was voting.  While political party preference was not discussed, I did find out that both her and her husband vote by mail.  Of course, if you know me, I used this little tidbit of information in a text to chide my brother.  He believes standing in line to vote is a demonstration of your patriotic duty.  That is horseshit.

I usually watch TV on Thursday, so last night I caught up on Andor (episode 6) and The Rings of Power (episode 7).  I like the both.  I also watched (don't laugh) Hocus Pocus 2.  If I were a 13 year old girl, I probably would have loved it.  I'm not and I doubt very much if any of you are either, so you might want skip this one.  A show I did really like was Werewolf by Night.  A mini-movie, I understand this is going to be serialized, too.  I'll watch it.  And yes, it's Disney.  And yes, it is TV14, with warnings of language and violence.

And, of course, yesterday the January 6 committee had what will probably be it's last televised session.  A lot of it was a rehash of previous meetings with the clips being a little longer and meatier.  There was a nice section with Pelosi on the phone with the Governor of Virginia.  I do wish there would have been more clips of Republicans, everyone you saw was a poser in the background.  The biggest joy I got was getting the notification that the Supreme Court had rejected his latest appeal as the committee was preparing to vote to subpoena him.  That was nice, though he'll never sit for them.

Finally, there was a debate last evening between Ron Johnson and Mandela Barnes.  Johnson got laughed at and booed, two things that did not happen to Barnes.  I was going to post a clip, but it's long, but if you get the chance look it up.  It's worth the chuckle.

Below the Squiggly Black Line

Okay, so I'm sitting here waiting... anticipating the approaching snow storm.  The air is colder than the last time the weather forecasters got their prediction wrong, so maybe this time we'll have a resoundingly heavy accumulation.  They originally forecast the start time as 0300.  Well, that changed to 0500 and here it is 0630 with nary a flake to be seen.  Just got an Update:  1-3 inches today plus another 7-14 inches over night.  The dogs are waiting.

I am just below the squiggly black line

Yesterday was busy at the store.  Believe me when I tell you that myself and my fellow associates are wishing business would just slow down.  For us, this has been constant since the time of Covid began.  An associate from my International Paper days stopped in during the afternoon and asked if I'd gotten the vaccine yet.  When I told her I was on a waiting list, she frowned behind her mask.  "But you're an essential person!"

I received a notice from the Cumberland County Board of elections in the mail notifying me that I needed to process an application if I wish to stay on a mail in ballot list.  Doing so will make my status permanent.  Consider it done.

And, as was to be expected, the Idiot Jerk's legal time has quit a week before his 2nd impeachment trial.  I guess that's not exactly true, I don't think any of us expected that, but I'm sure most of us were expecting something.  I understand that now some of those arrested during the Capitol Riot are now volunteering to testify.  This is definitely not what the GOP ordered, members of the Cracker Jack Crazy base telling Congress that they rioted because their failed president told them to do so.  Ouchy!

Even more amusing is that both McCarthy and McConnell (I don't believe for a second believe they are of true Irish stock) think they can get enough red voters to the polls in 2022 to take back both the House and the Senate.   They have no clue as to how much of a sucker punch in the gut January 6 was to the American voter.  No one said they were smart.

Do you regret Your lies?

Friday.  I ripped most of the border off yesterday, all that's left is a little steaming and scraping which I figure will take about an hour... if that.  The only problem so far has been the little chandelier at the top of the staircase.  It's going to be going away, replaced by some track lighting.  My hallway is 22 feet (6.7 m) long and there has only ever been 1 light... at the top of the stairs.  The new lighting is arriving today.  Hopefully all the trim will be painted and all I'll have to do is pick out a color for the walls.

I went for a nice little ride in the Pyrenees yesterday which had a 1.5 mile (2.4 km) hill, 6% grade.  I found the climb... invigorating.

Yesterday I received an email from the PA State Department regarding my mail in ballot.  I'm set up, nothing to worry about, I should be receiving it in the mail between September and October.  I soon as I get that sucker I'm filling it out and dropping it in the mail.  The Postmaster of PA has also issued a statement that if you apply for a mail in ballet close to the election you may not get it in time.  Translation:  if you want to mail in your vote don't dawdle.  If you haven't applied for it yet, then do so today, don't wait.  Any wishy washy indecisiveness may very well cost you your vote.  One good thing, the US Supreme Court has ruled that in Rhode Island, as long as your ballot is postmarked November 3, it has to be counted.  That pissed off the GOP.  Good.  Oh, and I also saw where a Federal Judge has asked to be given concrete proof that there is any kind of voter fraud in voting by mail.

Finally, from the Hindustani Times, what they are calling the 'uncomfortable question.'

It took him a second before he moved on.  I don't think the Idiot Jerk understands that a major majority of people in this country see him as a liar.
