Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Beetlejuice

The outside temps were 56 (F), 13 (C), this morning when I woke up.  Today is the last day they're predicting we hit the mid 80s, after that it looks like we're going to start the down hill slide into Autumn.  Daily highs next week are only supposed to be  in the low 60s (F).

The new chair I purchased will be arriving on October 2.  When it arrives, the writing room will be complete.  The most difficult thing to do so far was set the delivery date.  This was because for some dastardly reason the store has me scheduled for way too many hours.  Next week it's 32 with only 2 days off.  That is so much more than what I want.  The only reason I continue working is because I know I'd turn into a slug if something wasn't getting me out of the house.

My cold is still hanging on.  Crap.  For me, a cold usually last 2 or 3 days; always a runny nose and nothing else.  With this one I'm coughing (dry cough), and I'm still having nasal drainage (didn't I say that nice).  The last time I can remember having a cold this bad was back when I still lived in the apartment, and that was over 30 years ago.

I went to see Beetlejuice last evening (even with the cold).  The story turns out to be rather interesting as 3 generations of the Deetz family return to the ghost house for... a funeral, though I have to admit, I was looking forward to the afterlife segments more than anything, and they are tops.  Michael Keaton's Beeltejuice has aged quite well, so I'd give it a Thumbs Up.  My only criticism is that the song MacArthur Park is used in a segment and you really have to be of a certain age to appreciate how it's used.  I don't think younger people are going to get the references.  Anyway, here's the trailer.

And of course... Hahahah, Mark Robinson, the large, bigoted pastor, minister, or whatever you want to call him, had his campaign rocked by scandal yesterday.  Let's see, among other things, he referred to himself as a Black Nazi (ouch), and evidently used to enjoy watching transgender people have sex on a black, porn website.  Of course, he's staying in the race because... it turns out yesterday was really the last day he had to withdraw and ballots had already been printed.  How timely!  To be fair, he was already polling far behind the Democrat running for governor, so this was just the icing on the cake, so to speak.  He's earned this bad Karma, I hope he's enjoying it.

Very... interresting.

Well, yesterday the weather was rather warm, we hit the low 90s (F), and I did not mow my lawn.  That will need to be done later this morning, or possibly in the early afternoon.  Forecasters are predicting a repeat today.  The heat doesn't really bother me.  Lily does, however, so her morning walk is shortened; we only go around the block if the temps are too warm.

Yesterday turned out to be one of those days in which I was really productive in one way, I worked on the big fish tank, and unproductive in others, no workout, no ride, and no time spent on the treadmill.  I had wanted to do one of my little videos for the channel and didn't, but at the same time added over 1000 words to the new book.  Hopefully, I'll get to throw something together this morning, maybe with a little Prokofiev for background music.

I did sign up for Threads since I already have an Instagram account.  I'm going to have to change my password since evidently someone signed into my account from New Jersey yesterday.  In case you're wondering, I was not in New Jersey yesterday.

Oh, and I baked a quiche with leeks, ham, and Swiss cheese.  It's very tasty, but way too rich.  Most of it ended up being frozen for later.

Lin Wood, one of Trump's most loyal legal supporters suddenly up and retired yesterday in Georgia.  Permanently.  He can never practice law again, if that's what you can call his stop the steal antics.  Many are wondering if this might be the result of some sort of plea deal.  Looking at how so many are crumbling around Trump, I'd say that's rather likely.

And I saw where Mark Robinson, the seriously overweight Lt. Governor from North Carolina, defended the Mom's for Liberty in using a quote from Adolf Hitler.  This very large man who loves to push around his faith in an attempt to be a very large authority evidently doesn't know that Hitler was not a Christian.  In fact, he evidently called Christianity a Jewish plot, and saw God as an impersonal force who really didn't care about humanity.  He also believe in the superiority of the Aryan race, which God had evidently chosen.  Someone should tell Mr. Robinson that he doesn't fit the Aryan picture being both very large and black.  Oops.

The Shame of it All

Six hour shift today.  No problem.  Then it's 3 days off.  I can handle that as well.  Most of my schedules now are around 24 hours a week, which is what I intended.

Oh, and in case anyone is interested, it rained like hell yesterday.  There were showers on and off through out the day, however around between 4 and 5 PM that changed to steady rain, and wind; what you'd call a long soaker.  The dogs refuse to go out if they think it's too heavy, so they waited until a little after midnight.

I baked a loaf of olive bread yesterday, it's tasty, however I chopped my olives so fine you don't really taste them that much.  The recipe also called for using the olive brine... I think I'll skip that next time.

Adam Kinzinger announced his retirement yesterday.  Many are saying this is happening because of Trump.  More than likely the real reason is that there has been redistricting in Illinois and his new district encompasses many Democratic voters and... he's a Republican.  I was wondering if this was going to happen when I saw the map changes a few weeks back.  This is a shame since he's one of the few Centrist Republicans who hasn't sold his soul to the spawn of Satan, Donald Trump.

And, speaking of souls, I do feel sorry for those people down in North Carolina having to deal with their Lt Governor Mark Robinson, a man so filled with hatred he seems bloated.  Oh, wait, I must apologize, he's not bloated, he's just fat.  Oh, wait, that's rude, he's extremely corpulent and has no shame.  And this Cracker Jack Crazy is filled with hatred.  He wants a Christian Authoritarian government, and there's no doubt that if you don't fit into what he wants, he will make you pay.  My money says he hates those idol worshipping Catholics.  I'm not going to bring up Muslims, or Hindi's or Mormons since history has already shown us what Zealots do those people they call heathens.
