Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Numbers

It's 38 (F) and windy.  Temps are predicted to go up into the low 50s (F) today.  Tomorrow forecasters are saying temps will be a little warmer.  And that winter warning we had yesterday?  Well, there was the occasional snow flurry, but mostly we had steady rain falling throughout most of the day.  It was cold, with temps in the mid 30s (F), but no snow.

Yesterday, I returned that 2nd watch Amazon sent me.  I told a few friend who said she would have kept it, but in my mind that would have been theft, even if it was a screw up by an Amazon driver.  As for the new watch, it's working perfectly.  It has a touch screen, so that's something I need to get used to.

I also stopped by Howie's vet.  He has round worms, a common intestinal parasite.  He was already wormed, so I asked how he could get infected a 2nd time and was told that they're quite common.  He had his first treatment yesterday.  He'll get a 2nd in 2 weeks, and then another fecal test.  He also gets a booster shot on December 10.

I have to work today, tomorrow, and then Monday.  After that I'm off for 4 days, though I'll get 4 hours pay for the Thanksgiving holiday.  I'm actually looking forward to that.

And though he may look innocent, Howie is actually a puppy shark.

Being of a certain age, I have certain memories from decades back that many Americans do not, but then so many Americans suffer from long term memory loss.  For most, one thing will stand out and they use that singular thing they feel represents a long stretch of time.  Many do not know that Reagan was the first Republican president to pass a Trickle Down Economic Bill, though he called it Reaganomics.  And again, most people don't know that it, like all other trickle down bills, was quite successful at first, but then, as has always been the case with Trickle Down Economics, it began to fall apart.  Not too many people alive today know that Reagan went on TV, asking American's to "stay the course."  Sadly, very few remember how Reaganomics failed, or how W. Bush's Trickle Down failed, or Trump's, however they do tend to remember those initial 6 months when the economy flourished.  W's monumental failure is remembered, Trump's failure, however, is tied to Covid, and lockdowns, so his failure is largely forgotten.

Boarding the Left bound train

Well, it's Saturday, and it's my 2nd day off in a row.  That's right, back to back days off, such a rarity for me.
I had breakfast with my brother yesterday and he told me that he's seriously considering becoming an Independent, after a life long dedication to the GOP.  I suspect some of that has to do with his children.  He has 6, by the way.  One has no interest in politics, one has become a devout Libertarian, and one remains a dedicated Republican.  The other 3 have moved to the left, some of them to the far left, 180 degrees is how he described them to me.  I find this all very interesting.
And, of course, the GOP is beginning to grapple with their problem:  they have a lunatic president who desperately wants to be liked.  He wants to be The Most Popular President of All Time.  However, a majority voted against him and, in fact, if people were given the chance to vote again tomorrow, he'd lose.  He'd be crushed.  As time goes on, as his approval rating fails to rise, and as more and more people take a stand against him, his positions will begin to move to the left.  If he digs in and, as the GOP likes to say, hunkers down, he'll end up tieing 'W' for worst president of all time.  The only way for him to be popular is for him to change his stances.  My money says the ego will win out.  I've already read that the repeal of Obamacare is going to stall, probably for two years.  The excuse is to let it fall apart.  However, in 2 years it's very likely we will have a more Democratic Congress, one much less vocally hostile.
I also put on my artys fartsy hat yesterday and made a lamp... or, maybe you'd want to call it a decoration with some lighting.
Anyway, I had this cut glass punch bowl, and another aquarium stand, and some marble tiles, and I made this:

It looks really sharp when the room is darker.  Nifty, huh?
And on the even brighter side, I've only got 6 more days of dealing with Jane and her sagging parts.

The GOP wakes up and kicks a dead horse.

Yesterday morning the GOP got up and kicked a dead horse... again.  You know what I'm talking about, Benghazi.  They're terrified the election of 2016 is going to put another Democrat in the White House.  Instead of doing anything substantial to actually try and win the election, they kick a dead horse.  Why should we expect anything more out of them?  In fact, it seems as though the GOP has cornered the market on two things:  kicking dead horses and shitting in their pants, they do both exceedingly well.  While they will try and salvage a festering scrap of red meat from Clinton's testimony yesterday for the party base, for all intents and purposes they failed.  This is what was to be expected.  They've been failing for years.
And they've been shitting in their pants ever since they managed to get George W. Bush into the White House.  They totally ignored the fact that he got the job thanks to hanging chads and a conservative Supreme Court (amazing how much they liked the Court back then), and with a resounding splat, shit in their pants.  He is considered the 2nd worst president in American history, though I suspect as time goes he'll reach the pinnacle of incompetents.  The GOP will never admit to this, to do so is to admit that they, themselves, are good at only two things, kicking dead horses and shitting in their pants.

Don't believe me?  Look at those jokers who are vying for the Republican nomination.  Crazies, every single one of them.  The fact that the Republican base likes both Trump and Carson, that those two individuals are leading in the polls, is frightening.  And the rest of the clown parade is just as bad.  So, instead of presenting ideas that actually might be workable, they attack.  And they kick dead horses.  And they continue to shit in their pants.  I suspect it might be 2024 before are even able to name a viable candidate for the presidency.
