Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Newty's Doody

Well, it's Mittwoch, formerly known as Wondenstag until the 10th century, when people decided that Woden wasn't special enough to have a day named after him.

The weather was nice yesterday, not that I was outside that much.  While I did clean the living room tank, most of the day was spent on my kitchen floor.  There was a bit of a raging date in my head for about 30 minutes on whether I should take the flooring down to the hardwood or now.  Harwood floors are an asset when it comes to resale, but the floors in my kitchen have suffered greatly during the 118 years they have been tread upon.  Originally, there would have been a large iron coal stove which would have been used for heating as well as cooking.  Yes, this house is that old.  As a result, cinders and hot coals have scared the wood.  Then, when plumbing came in, there was evidently a problem with sinks, not that they leaked, but locating them in the correction place.  Because of this, there are a number of holes about one foot in from the wall around the perimeter.  There are other holes, as well, that were made when the coal stove went out and radiators came in.  After much back and forth in my head, I've decided to leave the floors covered and go with my initial plan of putting down vinyl planks.

Here's a pic of the progress.  The window and all of the holes are going to be covered with drywall.

And, as expected, there is still blowback coming from Republicans about the informal dress code.  Susan Collins began threatening to wear a bikini.  Someone should take her aside and let her know that there's a difference between Fetterman in his hoodies and shorts and her fat ass and her floppy boobies.  Sadly, she feels her absurdity will make a point, and in her own true Susan Collins style she's failing.

Not surprising, the hard core right wing of the Republican party in the House of Representatives is going to screw over, (are you ready for this?) their own party.  Newt Gingrich has groomed the Just Say No party extremely well.  Kev McCarthy, in an unusual moment, stated that this will hurt the party more than it will the Biden administration.  However, Newty did his doody well and taught them to be extremists; unless you get your demands, Just Say No.  This is like watching a tank of toothless piranhas gnaw each other to death.

Self Loathing Republicans

Monday has arrived.  I get to work this afternoon.  Will we be busy?  Difficult to say.  It's only for 6.5 hours, but that means I will need to take a lunch.  I'm taking sausage.  Blame it on my PA Dutch heritage (German), but I do like my sausage.  As a toddler, I used to watch my grandmother (Mom's side of the family), make it.  Fresh.  Today's serving will be cooked in the electric fryer.

Most of the new floor is in.  My legs are, for the most part, fine.  Knee joints weren't any creakier.  I did find going down the stairs a bit stiff.  But then, I'm not 19 any more.  As for the floor itself?  Hhhmm.  I hate to tell you, but it's not as precise as I thought.  You click in the top edge, and then using a tapping block click in the side.  You can barely see a seam on the sides of the tiles.  The top edges, however, are a different matter.  On some tiles, you can barely see a seam, on others?  At least to my eyes there is a significant gap.  Of course, there are ways to fix this.  And, to be perfectly frank, I didn't splurge on the best tiles, but rather spent my money on something that is considered a lesser grade.  I couldn't see spending the extra money when there's going to be a washer and dryer sitting on top of them.

Evidently attendance at Trump's rally in Ohio was rather sparse.  And there was a moment when the audience demonstrated their subversion.

At a rally in Chambersburg, PA, Doug Mastriano had his audience do the same thing.  "Put your right hand in the air," the told the crowd, and they did as he wanted.  The only thing missing was for them to begin chanting 'heil, heil.'  Many pictures have been circulating of both rallies have been circulating.  The one above seems to have been getting the most press.  Amusingly, there are Trumpies out there who are claiming the media doesn't cover Trump's rallies.  They don't see anything wrong with this, which is why he's becoming a detriment.

Speaking of the Moral Degenerate, I understand he arrived back at Mar a Lago... during the night.  I'm betting the first thing he did was check to make sure his secret stash of documents was safe.

Finally, on the immigration issue, personally, I don't think the political stunts of sending refugees to places like Martha's Vineyard is having quite the effect  the Republicans had hoped.  True, they do make headlines, but the only gleeful outrage I'm seeing is from hard core conservatives.  Since the Republican party can no longer say, "shut up, we're in charge," they're giving America their 'screw you' attitude instead.  I am truly disappointed when I see Hispanics running for office celebrating these incidents.  So much self-loathing is amazing.

Size matters

Well, here it is Monday - I get to go to work today - and then I'm off for 2 days. this is going to be a 32 hour work week for me so I don't care.  We're also supposed to be getting 3 - 6 inches of snow overnight.  That doesn't bother me either.
I had my 'bonus' meeting last evening.  The check was nice - not what I'm used to getting, but still it's money that I hadn't had before, however I did decide that it was probably my last.  I don't see any purpose in my going to the store for just an hour and a half every 6 months.
And yesterday I also had to deal with one of those customers who must have gotten a day pass from the asylum.  She had questions about tile.  Well, that's wrong, mostly she had observations.  Like are 12 inch tiles are not quite 12 inches, they're 11 3/4 inches.  We shouldn't claim that it's 12 x 12 when it wasn't.  Oh, and she had a tape measure.  That's right, she was measuring our tiles.  I informed her that sizing takes into account the fact that there will be grout, usually around 1/8" on all sides.  She didn't like that answer.
Then she asked where our 16 inch tiles were, stating "you say online that you carry 16" tiles."  We do, one style.  When I showed it to her she exclaimed "well, why wouldn't you carry more styles?  Just one style doesn't make sense!"  So.... I explained.  Contractors and customers prefer to work with square footage, it makes things much easier, not only with buying tile, but with arranging them on the wall or floor.  We sell 3", 4", 6", 9", 12", 18" and 24" tile because it's easier to calculate square feet.  A 16" tile is 1.77 square feet and that number complicates things.  She didn't like that answer either, and evidently she'd been in 2 other departments, asking the same type of questions, before she got to flooring.  Taking her tape measure, she left in a huff, no doubt planning an online expose' on how are signage is deceitful.  It isn't.  There's a reason.  You just need to think.

And speaking of size, there's a sizable number of Americans who want the Democrats to control Congress - they understand that's the only way to deal with the Idiot Jerk in the White House until he is legally removed from that position.  Of course this infuriates his base.  They don't care about democracy.  Nor do the care about America.  They only want to dictate.  The time has come to Take America back from the assholes.
