Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

About those Whigs

I cannot believe today is Saturday.  Of course, I have to go back to work wishing I had accomplished more yesterday.  This is the problem with not having consecutive days off.  I always look back and ask myself what I did?  How could an entire day pass without my checking off more chores.  Son of a bitch!

I did get a bike ride in yesterday, over 11 miles.  Oh, and I did go to the movies last evening.  Wonder Woman 1984.  I enjoyed it, though I'll admit it wasn't your normal superhero, entertainment fare.  There's a moralistic prelude which runs about 10 minutes, and then a 2 hour and 20 minute moving primer on that moral.  There was an obvious parallel between the villain and our failed president, a man who has no problem sacrificing everything as he grasps for ultimate power.  The resolution was a little weak, but hey... at least we got to see Chris Pine.  Spoiler:  There is no revealing bathtub scene.  There is, however, a very long digital flight through fireworks,.  In fact, there are a number of extended scenes which could have have been cut short.

Every now and then a memory will surface, a thought that rattles around inside my head for several days and then something serendipitously happens in the outside world which references that thought.  There was a time when my brain was like a sponge, absorbing shiny, little facts.  Back on Wednesday, as the shitstorm was unfolding in Washington, a facet of memory splintered off and began bouncing around inside my skull.  The Whigs.  For those who don't know American history, the Whigs were a political party that came to a rather unceremoniously ugly end.  However, like a bad virus, they mutated, the end mutation was what we call the Republican Party.  The problem with the Whigs?  They vomited out their principles to make room for their craving for power.  This morning, while I scanning the Washington Post I found an article referencing the similarities between the Republicans and the Whigs.  Interesting, isn't it?

And Twitter finally had the balls to shut down the Idiot Jerk's account.

Oh, and Apple is forcing Parler to begin moderating their hate.

Not surprisingly, 30 % of the country, the Republicans, believe the Idiot Jerk did nothing wrong.  This is similar to what happened when Nixon resigned.  They just can't believe the truth.  They are so out of touch with reality they have no idea how much damage he has done to them.  They won't understand that until we vote them out of existence, and then they'll blame us because we shut them up.

Trends

Well, here it is, Sunday.  Here on the East Coast we switched to Daylight Saving Time.  People complain because now it's going to get dark around 1730 in my neck of the woods.  Me?  No problem at all.  I'm one of those rare morning people.  That's when I get my household chores done, not after I get home from work.
And for once I'd like to thank the Idiot Jerk in the White House for being such a success.  That's right.  You have to admit, who else could rip of the masks off of Social Conservatives and prove them to be the racist creatures they are?  Without him people might think the Alt-Right was a sportswear company specializing in ultra-long, white hoodies.  He illustrates brilliantly how much presidents need to have weekly golf games in order to keep their Twitter minds healthy.  He demonstrates the necessity of bromancing enemy dictators.  In fact, I understand that his meeting with Putin at the end of his Asian trip will culminate in a golden.... moment.  How successful is he?  His disapproval rating has dropped a bit, down to 56 and his approval rating has climbed to 39... but that's only for today.  Six days ago his approval rating was at 33, and you have to remember, for the past 20 hours or so he's been on travel time.
Now I know there are people out there who are saying things would be different if Hillary had won.  Nope, not at all.  The GOP has a majority in both houses.  They'd still be sitting on her cabinet nominations.  There would 3 new Benghazi investigations, 4 more email investigations, and the House would have most likely managed to wretch up another Whitewater investigation.  As  I said before, it was her Karma to lose and the Idiot Jerk's to win.
While the rest of the world watches, the Republican Party has entered into Revelations... alone.  This is their End of Days.  All we can do is shake our heads in disbelief as Social Conservatives bow done in praise to the Idiot Jerk.  This is a party that's been making their own noose for a long, long time and all we can do is stand back and watch them put their head through it.
On a brighter note, I'm going to see Thor on Tuesday, and as a little ray of sunshine, here's Chris... shirtless.

And here's Chris shirtless.

And here's Chris shirtless.

I guess this is what you might call a Chris trend.

Back to Chris Pine

Well, it's wet Wednesday here in Central PA - cold and rainy, so damp I turned the heat back on, we're only supposed to get up in the mid 60's F both today and tomorrow.
I had off yesterday after working 4 days and the morning was busy.  I'm a morning person so I try and get as much as possible done before noon - at that point I begin to go into my relaxed state, pondering the imponderables, thinking how nice it would be to have a part-time gig on "American Gods," and laughing at the Idiot in the White House.
I did go see "Wonder Woman" last night, really like it.  Chris Pine and Gal Gadot  have a nice chemistry.  There's humor as they get to know each other which juxtaposes very nicely against the seriously dramatic backdrop of World War 1, the War to End All Wars.  The Cruelty of Man and his Gods takes center stage and the message of their love / hate relationship is not always happy.  I will admit I did find a bit of seeing Chris Pine....

actually, quite a bit of Chris Pine.
And, of course, the cluster fuck surrounding the Idiot in the White House just keeps getting messier and messier.  How about that bigot, homophobic Sessions offering to resign?  And that NSA leaker who provided concrete documentation on Russian hacking in regard to last year's election.  Talk about clarification, now, not only does the NSA know how deep Putin's fingers were into the presidential vote, so does the rest of free thinking America.  Notice that I say 'free thinking.'  That's because still quite a few of the Idiot's supporters are still mesmerized by the Idiot's bullshit.  All the while the Republican held House and Senate are working diligently to crystallize some demonstrable hatred for the majority of America; they know their days are numbered.
Enough of this, let's get back to Chris Pine.  Did you know he has this pool scene...
