Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Revealing the Republican Core of Corruption

We've got 13 (F) outside and our high today is only expected to be about 6 degrees warmer.  We are under a cold weather cold and wind advisory throughout the day tomorrow.  Bitter cold is upon us again, but only for a day.  A friend sent me a video of a local weatherman saying, "this time it's only going to last for one day, not 8 or 9 days."  We are 17 days into an approximately 90 day season.  My response was that there is warmth at the end of the tunnel.

Yesterday was supposed to be a cardio day.  It wasn't.  I do believe this is part of the winter doldrums, a time when I simply don't exercise.  I probably shouldn't have paused my Trainwell subscription, and plan to start it back up in 2 to 3 weeks.  Today's machine day.  That I like.  Growing muscle is always a good thing.

And I am watching Fallout on Prime.  Fallout New Vegas is considered the best game in the series, and this season they are in New Vegas.  Some of the set designs are straight from the game.  One of the most enigmatic characters of the game is Mr. House and in the series he's played by Justin Theroux.  In this series, he sports a moustache and does not run around in revealing sweat pants.

I also made moussaka for dinner.  Since it's quite tasty, it's something I'll make again, though I'll cut down on the liquid ingredients.

Orange spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast yesterday and his hateful dementia came bubbling over when he said no person of Faith could vote for a Democrat.  Yes sir!  he's going to turn Christian against Christian.  I've seen comments about him being the anti-Christ.  Sorry, I'm not buying into that hokey pokey BS.  He is pure evil, though.

Fascinating, is it, that so many other countries are beginning to investigate Epstein and his connections with men of power in their own countries, while the United States subpoenas the Clintons.  Nobody else.  This is rapidly become a global scandal and the Republicans in this country want to do what they've always done, try and deflect by kicking a dead horse.  It's pathetic when you think that the best idea rattling around in the petty, little brains is to subpoena Bill and Hillary.  Of course, they have to ignore so many people, because investigations into Thiel, or Musk would reveal the Republican core of corruption.  While other countries are asking serious questions, our Republican Congress wants to give them a safe haven.  They don't seem to understand that many Americans are watching them and assessing their evil intentions.  Republicans are so blinded by their lies they don't see truth is coming towards them at Mach speed.

The right words

Oh, my, it's Tuesday... and I am going to go to work today.  This is the last of 6 days in a row.  It's sucks.  On the plus side?  I'm not going to use any personal time.  This is good.  I don't get sick often but when I do... well, I'm usually off work for a couple of days.  Having personal time on the books allows for a decent recuperation
The Idiot Jerk is in the UK... and there's no Fox News to kiss his ugly, fat, cellulite ass which means his propaganda message needs to rely on his fellow white Supremacist Rupert Murdoch and his shit rags.  He's been hinting at "great deals" if there is a total divorce from the EU.  A hard Brexit is what the Idiot Jerk wants.  Of course, all those Brexiteers (sic British MAGA heads) need to understand this is the same approach he takes with the contractors who build his properties.  In the end, he leaves them with a plate of steaming shit.  For the Idiot Jerk, 'great deals' translates to:  prepare to be screwed over royally.
I was asked why I don't write romance into my books.  Well, I'm not a very romantic person.  I like things at face value.  The divorce rate in Pennsylvania is over 60% mostly because people base their marriage on romance.  They don't realize that in a relationship romance is the cherry on top of the sundae... it is not the sundae.  Ice cream melts.  Besides, I have a talent for putting words together which create tension.

Narration is fine, but letting the reader eavesdrop on a conversation?  Letting them hear the words from a character's mouth?  In "The Body on the Lawn," Eli has a confrontation with his father.  From the beginning of the book the reader knows they do not get along, so I've already set the bar high for their conversation. By the end of the chapter one of them wins, the other loses badly.  There is high tension.  One reader told me the tension in that chapter is 'palpable.'  When I told that to one of my 'readers' he said, "that's a very good word for it."  And I did it without out either of them swearing.  For me, writing is about creating drama, tension, suspense... and using the right words.  I like doing that.

Topping the Chinese

Will I watch the opening ceremonies for the 2012 Olympics in London, yes.  Will I watch the entire ceremony... no.  It's way too long.  Here's my recommendation to all future opening ceremonies, march the Olympians in first and get that out of the way, and then entertain the world.  Everybody with access to either a TV or the Internet will be watching and everybody will turn it off when the athletes begin parading into the stadium.  People walk slowly around that track.  If we were called America our athletes would be one of the first to enter, but we're the United States and "u" is pretty damn near the end of the alphabet.  Sure, some of the teams entering before us will be small in comparison to the American contingent, they will still walk slowly around that track.

Why will I be watching?  To see if the British attempt to top the Chinese opening ceremonies.  That's a pretty daunting task.  My suspicion is they are going to take another tact to celebrate the United Kingdom, like a Shakespeare production number, maybe Macbeth chasing spots away from the track, or possibly a reunion of the two surviving Beatles singing "Love me do."  One thing you can be sure of, there will be fireworks and special effects galore.  You won't see 2000 Chinese drummers pounding  away but you might see the girls from Absolutely Fabulous staggering around.  The Brits seem to like exporting the idea that they are a staid people, perhaps they might let their hair down.  Wouldn't that be entertaining.
