Simple Genetics

Oh, my, a late morning post courtesy of a dental appointment.  

Right now we  have 70 (F) outside and we have drizzles on and off since I rolled out of be this morning.  Temps are supposed to climb into the low 80s (F).  If the forecast for tomorrow is correct, we will be having rain on and off for most the the day.

Yesterday turned out to be sort of meh day.  I postponed my workout until Saturday because I just didn't feel like doing it.  What truly made it a meh day was my going in to work and discovering that I wasn't scheduled.  Even though I'm part-time, my schedule is fixed... until it isn't.  Because my work days never change, I never look at my schedule.  This week I should have looked at it.  In fact, my next 3 Thursdays are off.  I was told I could stay if I wanted.  🤣😂🤣 So I came home and started working on the next book.

And the dental visit this morning?  What was intended to be a routine cleaning has turned into a fiasco for the dentist.  As I sat down in the dental chair, the assistant told me that my cleaning was scheduled to broken up into 2 visits because it was a "deep scaling," and that we were going to do the right side today.  After cleaning the right my teeth on the right side, the assistant checked to see when I'd be coming in to get the left side cleaned and discovered I was only scheduled for one appointment.  Can you see where this is heading?  Of course, the receptionist affirmed that my dentist had wanted both sides of my mouth cleaned at the same time.  What makes this fiasco even worse is that they cannot schedule me in to clean the left side until November 13.  That's almost 5 months away.  The receptionist is going to talk to the dentist on Monday.  Here's what my teeth looked like before the cleaning.

Of course, yesterday the white conservatives on the Supreme Court once again highlighted their racism.  They really do hate Haitians and Syrians.  Actually, the truth is that they hate everyone who isn't white.  White conservatives have this delusion that they're special.  The white Christian Nationalists believe they are the chosen race.  They totally ignore the fact that white people are a serious minority in the world.  I find it fascinating that these people, who are supposedly Christian, and who believe that God created man, don't understand that if their beliefs are true then God made brown skin the dominant skin color.  I'm not talking heavy duty genetics.  In fact, it is all rather simple.  If a white person and a brown or black person have a baby together, that baby's going to be either brown or black.  White Christians have always had a problem with science in that it gives them answers they don't know how to deal with.

Bold

 Well, can we get a cheery hello to Tuesday?  Storms are predicted for this afternoon.  After they pass through our temps are supposed to drop, not that they've been super high - 2 or 3 days in the upper 90s (F).  I did have to water my little garden this morning; everything is baking.

Work was slow yesterday.  The associate who fell off the roof wasn't injured as terribly bad as I was led to believe.  I saw pictures of him yesterday.  I'd been told his nose had almost been ripped off, wrong.  He has four stiches on his left nostril.  Had I not been told he'd fallen; I'd have thought he'd been involved in a rockum sockum bar fight.  His shoulder is broken badly enough for them to put in a lot of pins, which means he'll be sitting at the flooring desk when he's not in physical therapy for the next few months.

An acquaintance emailed me a picture of a room he'd decorated all in white. While I didn't gag, a wave of somber disappointment washed over me.  White has no personality. It's a blank canvas anxiously waiting to be painted.  So, I sent back this picture saying bold is the way to go.  And dogs help.

Of course, everybody is chattering about the 'Raid on Mar a Lago."  Be honest, doesn't that sound like the title of a bad B movie?  Something that might star an aging, overweight actor who managed to get a starring role in a moving all the critics panned?  The search warrant was obtained because in all likelihood a crime has been committed.  His fan club is fuming.  These people, who had no problem dragging a wagon carrying a jailcell with Hillary Clinton inside around an arena at one of his rallies, all the while shouting, "lock her up!" are upset.  Boo Hoo.  Of course, those not wringing their brokenhearted hands are wondering what documents the moral degenerate stole.  Classified information.  Something he thought he could sell, no doubt, either to the Saudis or his blow bro Vlad Putin.  And people are seriously wondering if Trump will be indicted before the midterms.  That would be a rather bold move.

And, finally, there are primaries today in several states, one of them being Wisconsin. Ronnie Johnson?  One of the senators from Wisconsin?  He's in a bit of a snit.  You see Ronnie made some statements about Social Security, about changing it in order to slowly get rid of it.  For those who don't know, Republicans hate Social Security.  To them it represents Socialism.  Anyway, Ronnie thought he was being bold when in reality he was being brash, but then Ronnie's never been a smart guy.

These are not White Republicans

My weekend begins today!  I was going to post a gif of a puppy joyously dancing in celebration, but I chose not to.  That might sadden some of my readers... those who are returning to a work week.
I am a bit on the tired side since I stayed up to watch the Oscars.  The show moves so much faster without a host.  I think that change was very smart of the producers.  The TV viewing audience isn't sitting on pins and needles waiting to be entertained.  Nope.  They're just waiting for the names of the winners.  I was glad Brad Pitt won.  Isn't it nice to know some pretty boys can grow up to act?
The acting awards were pretty much in the bag before their names were announced.  Brad's and Laura's speeches were nice and short.  Joaquin's was too long, but at least he had a focus point.  Renee's... ?  She had no problem serving up a word salad with a southern twang dressing.  She reminded me that some actors are only as good as their script.
About the diversity thing some complain about.  Two years ago the Academy of Arts and Sciences increased their membership by 842 - all of whom were women and minorities.  This was done under the belief that more minorities would equate to more minority nominations.  The truth is minority members are not like White Republicans.  They do not nominate simply because of color or gender.  To do so would put them in the same playing field as White Republicans, who only nominate and vote for White Republicans.
Last evening black animators won their first Academy Award for a film about... black people dealing with their hair.  One of the winners said "cartoons are the first movies children watch."  Hidur (I can't pronounce or spell her last name) was the first woman to ever win an Oscar for Best Original Film Score.  Two women (one a Director and one a Producer) won the Oscar for Full Length Documentary Feature.  An Asian won the award for Best Make-up Design.  And then, of course, there was this little winner.

"Parasite," a South Korean film released in the United States with sub-titles won the Grand Prize, Best Picture of the Year.  In fact, "Parasite" won 4 very, very prestigious awards:  Writing, Directing, International Film, and Best Picture.  This is what you call diversity.  I'll bet this pissed off a lot of MAGA heads and White Supremacists.  Do not expect minority members of the Academy to only nominate and vote for minorities... that's racist.  These voting members of the Academy are not White Republicans.

The Unknown Region

As someone who writes a blog, I like to go in and check my stats - not so much for the numbers, rather I'm more interested in where my readers are located.  Sometimes I will get a lot of hits from Russia and I'll wonder if I might have piqued the interest of all those Putinettes over there.  I get a lot of hits from Italy.  "Hello Italy!  Love ya!"  There are a number of readers in France, Germany and the UK, and Australia.  "Hello World."  Yesterday, when I looked at my stats "Unknown Region" was listed.  Okay, so where the fuck is that?  Have extraterrestrials finally made contact... with me? Has there been a disturbance in the force?  "Obi Wan, I hear you... kind of!"

Anyway, I had 136 hits from... somewhere.  Evidently blogger doesn't know where these hits are coming from, but I have a funny feeling they might be located in Florida.  Sure, there are those who like to think of it as a state, but the retired, Republican racists down there just nominated some fool named DeSantis as their candidate for governor.  The Democrats nominated a black man named Gillum.  DeSantis made a racist comment about how the white citizens of Florida shouldn't "monkey this up."  There was a backlash, or course.  That being said, there is also a lot of evidence that by saying this he "endeared himself" to those retired, Republican racists who live there, which is why I think Florida just might be "the unknown region."  A lot of old, rich white people live there and the idea of having a black governor is more than a little disconcerting to them.  They are no doubt very happy they will be dead by the time 2045 rolls around.
For those who don't know, 2045 is the year white people become the minority race in the United States.  If you want to get a good laugh, tell that to a White Republican.  Just make sure you're at least 10 feet away because when that shit explodes it sprays fairly far.  Of course, any gathering of White Evangelicals might also constitute itself as an "Unknown Region," since they are in their own little crazy world, which is no longer here, but definitely not there.

Chris has a penis

Well, here it is Friday... and I don't work this weekend.  The outside temp is 55 (F), the back door is open and the dogs are running in and out of the house, muddy, of course, because we've had rain.  Tomorrow they're calling for 3 - 6 inches of snow... well, it is February, isn't it?
I received a call from the VA yesterday asking how I was doing after the colonoscopy.  No pain?  no bloating?  Oh, and the biopsy will be back next week.  A funny thing about polyps:  when you tell someone one you've had one removed their face will grow narrow and serious, as though you've just received the worst diagnosis in the world.  One of my friends actually said, "well, it's a good think if they catch it now."  In their desire to get as many people as possible to undergo this procedure the medical community has demonized the little polyp.  Instead of being rare and the harbinger of doom, they are rather common, and the vast majority are harmlessly benign.  Unfortunately that message doesn't play well.
Anyway, I see the Idiot Jerk in the White House has once again said that the shooting in Florida is not a gun issue, but one of mental proportions.  The report that the shooter was a member of the Alt-Right is getting beaten back by his supporters on Facebook.  One dipshit actually said "how could he be a member of the Alt-Right?  Look at his last name."  Oh, yeah, how do we spell stupid?
There was an interesting article in the Chicago Tribune on how how the Idiot Jerk in the White House, and the Republican Party are desperately trying to keep America white.  They just don't want to believe in genetics, and in dominant genes; evolution is happening right in front of them.  We are getting browner by the day.  By 2044 there will be just as many minorities in the United States as there are White People.  Nothing is going to stop this... and they hate it.

Airbrushed, you ask?  Yes, airbrushed.  Puritanical minds object to some of Chris's details, finding them too revealing.  That's right, there are now a lot of photos out there in which Chris has been smoothly neutered.  The last thing these people what you to know is that a man named Chris, who is the first US medal winner in the luge, has a penis.

White Carpet

My schedule today is crap - a mid, meaning I start working at 10:45.  I hate shifts like this. They don't give me enough time to get things done.  On days when I have this type of schedule I don't get to take the girls up to the park.  In fact, tomorrow is going to be a shit day, too.

Anyway, I had off yesterday and got a lot accomplished.  One of things I did was buy a new carpet / rug for the dining room.  This is not that unusual because the girls tend to be hard on that carpet.  For some reason that's where they take their biscuits to eat them, and their bones to chew on.  As a result they get replaced about every six moths.  The one I picked up yesterday is white.  One of the first things a friend said to me was "you have dogs, why in hell would you buy a white carpet?"  My reply just kind of popped out of my mouth before I had a chance to think about it.  I said "why for the photo op of course."  See how pretty they look:

Of course, I have to admit it's not as white now as it was when I bought it, but it was inexpensive.  And of course I did get a lot of nice pictures, and sometimes isn't that what counts?

The Changing white population

The US Census bureau released some information that a number of Americans no doubt found staggering:  that by 2043 white people will be a minority group.  I'd read something several years ago which at that time suggested racial integration in America was picking up speed.  Back then it was suggested those people who call themselves white my reach minority status in the 2050's.  That  data must have been wrong, or else it has been continually re-evaluated. Actually, this is no surprise to me.  Genetically darker skin is the dominant gene.  This is life, which makes me laugh at the thought of all of those white supremacists who saw that press release and shit a brick.  I wonder if, with their numbers slowly dwindling, they might at some part consider a Black Nazi Party.  What a hoot that would be!

Five years from now this picture will be different

I did some research and discover defining 'white' is not as easy as it sounds, unless you're from one of the southern tier states.  Some people view Spaniards as white and others don't.  There are a number of Latino families out there who consider themselves white and yet they are darker then Marco Rubio.  Speaking of him, one can only wonder what he calls himself in his heart of hearts.  I suspect he thinks of himself as white.  In some of the Central Balkan countries religious ethnicity seems to take a big part in considering if one is labeled dark or light white, irrelevant of the actual skin shade.  Believe me, this gets really complicated.  Take a trip to Italy and you'll find a lot of dark skinned people who, if they lived in this country, would call themselves white even though many of the residents of Tulsa would call them Latino.  Of course being 'white' doesn't really mean anything. Boy, is time proving that to be true.  If you look at all the children under 5 in this country, 49.9 % are considered minorities.  This year or next that number is going to change.   This is how it goes.
