Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Played by Republicans

This morning's temp is 74 (F).  Today's high is supposed to be 101 (F).  Honestly, I can't remember have the high temp being over 100 (F).  How hot is it?  I sold some fake grass to a woman yesterday who wanted it for her dog; it's too hot to walk him on the sidewalk.  I didn't ask if she was going to keep the grass in her house or not.

I did get a nice little flooring sale, and also a lead for interior shutters, which are expensive, so the lead made management happy.

Otherwise, it was a pretty much of a meh day.  Most of the customers I talked to at work complained about the heat.  Sometimes I want to remind them that we had a very warm winter, but usually I don't.  I can see in their eyes that the only time weather makes an impact on their lives is when it's an event, such as a deep snow, or as in this summer, which, halfway through July, is very hot.  They'll remember this summer, unless next summer warmer.  Of course, if summers continue to get warmer because of Global Warming, this summer will be remembered as the first.

I watched a movie called Creator last evening.  It started off good, very good, actually.  Americans are the bad guys trying to kill off synthetic people who have been blamed for a terrible event.  Asians have no problem with the synths, and so America basically invades Asia.  About 2/3 of the way through the film, however, it goes off the rails, and the ending is a letdown.

So, yesterday when I got the flash that Trump had chose JD Vance as his vice presidential candidate I started chort, chort, chortling away.  What does Vance bring to Trump?  Well, unlike Rubio and Bergum, he's politically stupid, and, unlike Rubio and Bergum, he's a celebrity of sorts.  That's important to Trump.  In fact, in Trump's press release, he mentioned that Vance was a famous author and that Hillbilly Legacy had been made into a movie.  Great qualifications for a vice president to have.  No one should have been surprised.  In fact, I'm guessing Tim Scott is a little relieved because now he doesn't have to get married.

Another thing about that supposed assassination attempt.  I want to remind people that Reagan also survived and assassination attempt and his approval rating went through the roof.  I've often told Republicans waiting for another Reagan, they need someone who has survived an assassination attempt.  Of course, after he was shot, the press played Reagan up as being like your grandfather.  Trump's a convicted felon, and there is nothing grandfatherly about him.  There are so many things that simply don't add up to this... shooting, except for Republicans, many are scratching their heads and starting to wonder if they've been played.

Bottom of the Barrel

What a bright, sunny Tuesday we have outside!  Temps are cold.  When I woke up my thermometer was at 23 (F), which is quite chilly.  Afternoon temps, however, are supposed to climb into the mid 40s (F).  For those counting, we have 28 days until Spring, and I'm certain we'll breeze through them rather fast.

Lily's feeling better this morning.  She rousted herself out of bed to go downstairs for her morning "potty outside."  She snacked on her breakfast, and then did what she's been doing for quite some time now, went back to bed.  On an average, senior dogs sleep between 18 and 20 hours per day, and she's definitely a senior dog.

Work was... odd yesterday.  I had a nice window blind sale go through, after some hiccoughs with getting the quote to print correctly.  I also have a very large flooring sale going through.  There was a problem with that one, too, due to a large dip in their floor (3/4 inch).  The customer told me that she and her husband knew there was a dip in the floor, but they never realized how much of a dip they had.  This is true with so many customers.  They don't understand that you foot is flexible and bends in order to make you stand upright.

And, of course, there was political humor yesterday.  In fact, I'm still chortling away.  Things like this:

The idea of Lara Trump becoming co-chair of the RNC is rattling a number of people in the GOP, and not just because she's a bimbo.  As I said before, even with her partially in charge, funds are going to be skimmed... well, maybe skimmed is not the right word.  How's openly stolen?  All those cultists gleefully sending money to Trump's campaign will actually be paying his legal bills, and his fines, and for ketchup by the truckload.

But the funniest thing yesterday was seeing that Historians rank Trump as the worse president of all time.  Not only did the Internet explode, but so, too, did media outlets.  The Fox Propaganda Outlet was furious, all the while praying that their shitty indignation would increase their ratings.  Like the sneakers picture above, there was bountiful laughter bouncing around in the form of memes, many of the anything but kind.  And, if you take this just a tiny step farther, his rating applies as well to his party, the dying RNC.

Adding just a little bit of spice to this presidential rating, is that Reagan not listed as being too good, either.  Conservatives love him because he tried to give them what they want, unfortunately, that was at the expense of the rest of the country.  Conservatives are a minority group.  It's time they learned their place in America.

The Truth Terrifies Them

Sunday Funday.  Kind of, kind of not.  I am off work.  I also slept in late because I stayed up late (very late) and watched the final episodes of Star Trek, Discover, season 3.  I enjoyed it immensely.  Now I'm waiting for season 4, which is supposed to begin streaming in November.

The large, orange home improvement retailer I work for is going to keep us masked until further notice.  Our Governor, Tom Wolf, said more restrictions are going to be lifted on May 31.  As you might expect, there whines rising from the Republicans.

On the garden scene, the rose in my front yard is beginning to burst into bloom.  Interestingly enough, the color seems to have changed from an orangey coral, to a reddish coral.  I have no idea how this could happen... perhaps something in the soil?

I'm going to my brother's farm this afternoon for some sort of belated Mother's Day gathering for my sister.  I was going to bake a golden cake with fudge icing until he asked if I could bring either macaroni or potato salad.  So, rather then making something delicious from scratch, I stopped by my local Giant Supermarket and picked up a gallon of each.

And, of course, people are noticing another big Republican hypocrisy:  they shriek and moan about how the left is cancelling things they don't like, while at the same time cancelling the voices who call them out for being frauds and liars.  You don't have to think long to realize this has always been the truth.  Their whole political movement has supported one lie after another while simultaneously attacking all criticism.  Let's be honest hear.  The Big Lie actually began with Reagan's landslide re-election, they decided America was actually Conservative, not Centrist.  For decades they looked for another Reagan and found... no one.  Instead of re-evaluating his win, they turned into the Tea Party, which mutated into the MAGA base they now have.  The Big Lie now blames everything on massive election fraud.  It's so much easier for them to believe that, rather then the simple truth that they're nothing but a group of sore losers.  The truth terrifies them.

Entertainment Value

I see Blogger has been fixed.  Last evening, when I started reading through your blogs, I got error message after error message.  None of you were safe because blogspot was prone to phishing.  Of course, I ignored the warnings because it was everyone on Blogger.  Pain the ass is what it was.  And this morning?  No problem at all.

Since I still own a lot of vinyl, I've been thinking of purchasing a turntable.  There's really not a great debate going on in my head.  It's kind of like a... meh... should or shouldn't I.  What will most likely happen is that one morning I'll get up and just order one that's new, spiffy, and Bluetooth.

And I don't really want to go in to work today, mostly because I suspect some pain in the ass customers are going to show up.  I sold them their measure back in early April.  For a while, they didn't want to be bothered.  Tuesday evening they showed up with complaints about everything.  Ignorant complaints, one being they couldn't understand why we were putting padding on the risers of a staircase.  Believe me when I tell you this is a really stupid whine.  They complained that the cost of the quote was much higher then the estimate and, of course, it's actually several hundred dollars lower.  We had to send someone out to do a remeasure.  If they really raise a stink, I'll simply refund their measure fee and send them packing.

Here come the roses.

And the war between the Republicans is heating up.  One can only wonder what's going to happen when Loser #45 gets indicted.  Oh, and that's just a matter of time.  Evidently he has to travel to New Jersey and stay there for the next couple of weeks.  There's concern that it will happen while he's there.  Can we talk about fury?  The MAGA's will erupt and we'll get to see their lava anger.  This will be hotter than the anger they showed when Reagan was forced to testify at during the Iran / Contra investigation.  I mean, how could we do something like this to their false god?  As their anger seethes, their party will continue to attack itself because there is a growing group that is going to blame him for there troubles.  If we're lucky, Tucker Carlson's head will explode while he's on-air.  Damn.  How can you beat that for entertainment value?

Bread alone?

So, my alarm went off this morning and I chose to ignore it and sleep a little later.  Sometimes that is nice.  However, I can also see how sleeping late might turn into a bad habit.  When I finally go into partial retirement, I don't want to be one of those people who stays up all night and then sleeps away the day, getting nothing accomplished.  When that happens, you're basically turning into a rock rather than a human, or a troll.

Yesterday much was accomplished, in spite of the constant drizzle.  Bread was baked.  Whole wheat, it's sooooo delicious!  I've eaten half the loaf already.  Can one live by bread alone?

Doing a little research here, so does anyone know what kind of wine would go good with S'mores?

I made Italian pork chops for dinner last evening and they turned out anything but tasty.  I'll pluck the meat for the bones and the dogs will get a treat.

Also, my doctor's appointment is for this afternoon.  After that, I'm going to get in a ride.  It's been a while because my knees have been old age achy.  I'm debating whether I should begin dousing myself with turmeric since it's an anti-inflammatory.

One of the things Uncle Joe brought up in his speech was Trickle Down Economics, that old Reagan lie Republicans have been posturing for years.  Well, after decades of failure, even Conservatives are admitting it doesn't work.  It worked a bit at first because the tax rate for some was around 70%.  However, once the tax rate drops below 54%, it turns into a gift for the rich.  This is a truth Republicans hate.  They want their base to be gullible as hell.

And what about Florida and their voting laws.  One of the definitions of Systemic Racism is to make voting more difficult for those minority groups you don't want voting.  Yep.  White Republicans believe that by making it illegal to give out water, and reducing the number of voting boxes, and make mail-in useless, people of color will stay away from the polls.  This belief among white Republicans proves they zero understanding of people.  They will only eat white bread, saying, "to hell with the wheat, the rye, and the raison."

Ending the Lie

Finally, today is my 6th day.  Tuesday and Wednesday are my weekend off this week.  After that I get to work 4 days and have another weekend.  I have no problem with that.  Thanks to the generosity of the orange retailer I work for, and my age, I'm going to have around 40 extra hours of personal time I need to use by July.  In my mind, that spells another way to add to my vacation.

I watched a few episodes of The Haunting of Bly Manor.  It's actually listed as a 'Gothic Romance.'  Not my cup of tea.  Based on a short story / novella by Henry James, The Turn of the Screw, it is really nothing more than a number of backstory episodes of any almost entirely female cast.  If you're interested in a series about: women in danger, and women who make mistakes, or if you happen to be female, this might be for you.  The Haunting of Hell House was so much better.

As of yesterday about 30 million ballots have been mailed in, mostly Democratic.  I saw where the Idiot Jerk in the White House is now encouraging mail-in voting in some states because... well, there's Covid.  Oh, and there's also the fact that he's doo dooing poorly.  That's not a typo, but rather a precise description of his campaign.  He's holding superspreader rallies all over the place, gathering his MAGA head base, infecting them so they can take the virus back to Mom and Dad, and Gramps and Gran. The schtick he pulled in 2016 isn't working.  His only agenda is to divide.  This is what you should expect from a man who dealt with 4 (6 actually) bankruptcies, a man who's $1 billion in debt to... who?  The Russkie?

We got 15 days until the election and the Republicans are scared shitless.  Perhaps if they had considered America as a whole, rather then only their selfish selves.  This has been their problem since Reagan.  I said it before and I'll say it again.  Reagan started the lie, the Idiot Jerk in the White house is going to end it... very, very badly.

Theologically Approved Magic

Wow, it's Sunday!  I slept in a bit since I'm going into work late.  The 'muscles' I'm using to help install my storm door are showing up this morning.  Instead of punching in around 0800, I'll probably hit the time clock around 1100... or maybe 1130.  Since it is... Sunday, this is fine.  The 'after church' crowd doesn't start showing up until noonish, and if the football game hasn't been cancelled because of Covid many of them will stay home to watch men in padded suits tease each other with infection.

Being an employee in what's considered a high risk group (over 65), the great orange retailer I work for gave me a lot of personal time in case I came down with Covid.  Many of the associates who got this 'chunk of time' have frittered it away by using a day here and there.  Not me.  Since we are not allowed to let this sit on the books forever, we were given the option to cash some of it in, which I promptly did.  As a result, around Thanksgiving I'm going to be getting a very, very nice bonus in my check.  The hours I left on the books will need to be used by July.  I don't think I'll have a problem doing that.

I understand the Idiot Jerk Tweeted some sort of video yesterday from Walter Reed in which he claimed his treatments were 'miracles from God.'  Have you ever heard such horseshit in your life?  Whatever happened to science?  You'll notice he didn't mention the men and women who worked diligently behind the scenes to develop remdesivir.

Evidently his doctors must have found a big, big stash in  a cabbage patch.  The last thing he wants to do is mention the word 'science.'  His Cracker Jack Crazy Christian base hate that word.  They would so much prefer relying on snake oil and theologically approved magic than science.

And, of course, there have been conflicting reports regarding his health, mostly I suppose because they can't really decide which tact to take.  Is he knock, knock, knocking on death's door, or is this really nothing more like a bad case of the flu... where he needs to be on oxygen, but only for a little bit of time.  There are times when I suspect he might not even be sick.  I've seen a number of remarks regarding Reagan and how the nation rallied around him.  That's not happening with the Idiot Jerk, though I think that's what they were hoping for.  In fact this might just be another desperate attempt to kick start his failing campaign.  If it is, it's failing miserably.  According to a Reuters / IPSOS poll Biden has moved into a 10 point lead.  Ouch.  This is why the Idiot Jerk is being treated with miracles from God.

Lip Service

My, wasn't yesterday just an an excitable infusion of Remdesiver joy and palpable drama?

Work was slow.  Customers did come to the flooring desk, but most of the questions were of the inquisitive, non-revenue earning type.  I did sell a 12 x 11 carpet remnant to a woman who, after purchasing it, asked if we could fold it in half so she could put it in the back of her Ford, Explorer.  Rolls of carpet don't fold well... at all.  In the end, she said she open the back window and let it stick out.

And, of course, the Idiot Jerk chose to go to Walter Reed Hospital.  The Reality Show has changed.  Statements of concern flooded the air waves with all the depth of your standard, generic, wannabe Hallmark card.  He was given the same sort of lip service he give so many others.  Only his base feels sorrow.

Skepticism is high as to whether he really is ill.  A friend of mine at work showed me a rumor stating the October Surprise was going to be his miraculous recover from Covid.  This man who trolls the sewers for conspiracy theories in now the source of many.  What I find most outstanding is that many of them revolve around his failing campaign, that he's still looking for a way to jumpstart his ratings.  The LA Times had an interesting article noting how the nation rallied when Reagan was shot... that's not happening with the Idiot Jerk.  Many more seem inclined to see this as his Karma, or what ever they want to call Judgment.  One thing is for certain, his bout with this virus he called a hoax is not going to benefit his campaign.  This is obvious when you see the faces of the cast from his favorite propaganda show, Fox and Friends, as Chris Wallace describes how not one member of his family wore a mask at the debate.  (What! They didn't wear masks?) Can you hear my smug humor.

And I must admit I'm a bit surprised.  The lip service being paid to the Idiot Jerk in the White House is so much more generous than what he and his party would have offered Biden if the shoe was on the other foot.  Biden stopped running negative ads.  The Idiot Jerk would have ramped them up, calling Biden every despicable variation of loser possible.  Well, now we know who the loser is.  United, we can vote he and his party back to Hell.

Just Call Me Captain

Halfway through my 6 day work week.  They happen every now and then, but back to back is not in my normal game plan.  Only 2 more week to go until I my schedule changes.  I don't mean to decry my 8 - 4:30 shift, it's something so many desperately want, but when you're a morning person that 0800 start time come way too fast.

Yesterday was Italian food day at work.  I had the Chicken Parmigiana, it was... okay.  There was a lot of mozzarella, a lot of breading... and a little chicken.  I prefer more meat and less filler.  At least the bits of chicken were real and not process, a problem if you happen to buy one of the frozen Stouffer entrées.  Anyway, I did get the chance to dress up as Captain America.

Notice, I didn't comment on how much I resemble Chris Evans.

As expected, the Idiot Jerk nominated a Cracker Jack Crazy christian to the Supreme Court, a move which is intended to get the Cracker Jacks to the polls... Duh.  Someone should have told him they have already committed their souls to him.  Oh course, he's believes the Reagan lie, that there's a silent majority of conservatives out there.  As I've said before, Reagan started the lie, the Idiot Jerk in the White House is going to end it.  Permanently.

And there's a debate coming up on Tuesday.  I never watch them.  Don't like them.  You see, the candidates don't really debate.  What you get are slow, ponderous responses to questions geared around generalities.  Debates prove nothing since no candidate fulfills everything he promises.  They have become nothing more than a verbal blood sport.

And while I don't watch them, I will be interested in Wednesday morning's opinions this year.  You see, the Idiot Jerk is continually challenging Biden's acuity, even as his aides are working on the sidelines tampering down expectations.  You see, all the Idiot Jerk has are the same old lies, innuendo, and conspiracy theories which will make his base dance and sing.  America will listen to Joe.

The Majority of Americans ( and a fish video, too)

My Saturday has arrived!!!  I did sleep a little late... in an odd sort of way.  I got up at my usual 0445, left the dogs out, pottered around for about 15 minutes and then decided to head back to bed.  After working 6 days, I do need to... relax... and prep for today's chores.  As a home owner, there are always things to do.

There was big news in the gaming world yesterday.  Microsoft is buying Zenimax (Bethesda Game Studios) for $7.5 billion.  That's right... billion.  The announcement was made a day before pre-orders go live for their X Box Series X.  Of course, I'll order one, probably right after I finish writing this entry.

And the other 16 cent goldfish has died.  I got home from work yesterday and he was floating.  Since that little tank is now empty, I'll clean it out and head down to That Fish Place.  I'm thinking of getting a few mollies.  They're a nice addition to a community tank.  And speaking of my tank, I did a little video this morning (another reason why today's blog is a little late).  And is this one... I speak.

Even though a majority of Americans say the Senate should wait until after the election to try and fill RBG's seat, they're moving ahead with plans.  I suspect the reasoning is twofold:  1) they're certain the Idiot Jerk is going to most likely lose; 2)  if the election is close, they'd like to have a Conservative ringer on their side should the Court have to decide the election.  Their unprincipled craven need for power is almost laughable.  The will of the majority means nothing to them.  Every time they use the phrase "the people," they lie.  They totally fail to comprehend that a minority party, if it gets into power, as they have, needs to take the majority into consideration.  And they do think they're going to win this election.  How terribly wrong they are.
Everyday the reality of their loss tightens.  They believe (thanks to Reagan's lie) that there is a silent majority of conservatives out there.  They couldn't be more wrong.  There are no 'shy' supporters of the Idiot Jerk in the White House.  They have become the party of no values.  All they want, all they dream of, is a tinfoil dictatorship, and starting November 3, the majority of of Americans is going to start crushing that dream.  Will there be retribution?  Possibly.

It started with Reagan

Since I only work 4 days this week, this evening I will hit my short week Hump day.  Believe me, I cannot wait for my next weekend, which just so happens to be 3 days long.    After that, it's a week of work followed by a week of vacation.  Hopefully the temperatures will be a bit cooler by then.
We have customers who have issues with seams in their carpets.  If the dimensions of your room are over 12' by 12' (3.66 M x 3.66 M) two sections of carpet are going to be seamed.  This is so extremely common since most of us have rooms that are larger then that.  Of course, we have a couple who have a room that is 27 ' by 16' (8.23 M x 4.88 M) and they only want one seam.  We do sell carpet that comes in 15 foot widths and they can get one seam, but to do that they're going to be buying a lot of extra carpet, several hundred $$$ worth.  Yesterday, they got angry and said they were taking their business else where (that always means Lowe's).  More power to them.
There was an interesting opinion in the Washington Post which matches up with what I've been saying for years about the Republican party:  It Started with Reagan.  How do they get taught a lesson?  The American electorate votes the snot out of them.  Remember how they treated Clinton?  We need to treat them the way they treated Clinton, kick them like a dead horse when they're down.
I saw where Louie Gomert tested positive for Covid... they didn't say whether he had any symptoms or not.  I'm sure he's taking hydroxichlorquine since his deity has told him it works.
Oh, and Billy Barr has been running his on investigation into the 2016 election... and he's planning releasing his results prior to the election in November.  Does he really believe anybody besides the Idiot Jerk's base is going to believe him?  This is a desperate ploy to get them out to vote, to save the ass of the Idiot Jerk.  The minute Biden takes the oath of office, Billy needs to be taken into custody for treason to the constitution and the United States.
On my last 3 days off, I baked bread.  Doesn't it look delicious?

Wickedly

When I got up this morning the temp was 49 (F).  Time to break out the sweat pants & shirts!  While I do truly love wearing just shorts and T-shirts, I do have to admit to also loving my sweats.  There's nothing like bundling up in them when the air is crisp against the skin.
I completed the return cycle of my fault Go-Pro yesterday after work by dropping it off at my nearest UPS Store.  The credit has been issued.  That will help wash out the charge for the Go-Pro 7 Silver which, as I type, is on it's way from Louisville, Kentucky.  I find the idea amusing that a small camera used for the making of mini-action videos should be shipped from the same state as slow moving Moscow Mitch.  As time goes on we will learn more and more the only thing he and his wife were speedy at was in the padding of their bank accounts.  How Republican of him.
In the UK, their Supreme Court is going to decided if Boris lied to the Queen... Well, of course he did.  Do you think he cares?  Of course not.  This whole Brexit thing is about power and the ability to wield it.  As in the US, the Brits have a block of voters who don't want to be part of anything.  Nope.  They need to be in charge.  Over there they call them Brexiteers.  Here in the US we call them Republicans.  They're a loudly vocal group who constantly aspire to be powerful.  Their favorite pronoun is "my."  Their favorite command is "shut up!  we're in charge!"  I may be mistaken, but I do believe it was the Idiot Reagan who labeled them the "silent majority."  Well, true to form, he had it wrong.  They are the "loud minority," and that grates wickedly their last nerve... the minority bit.
And I have to apologize, there are no magic pictures today, but I will give you a bit of an update on The Body in the Well.  Almost 46,000 words have been written, and this is just the first draft.  There are some really funny parts, and some very suspenseful parts, and some are very dramatic.  And, of course, there are the snaky parts.  Three of them to be precise.  You know, 3 is a special number in universal as well as religious thought: wholeness, completeness, and perfection?  While I have no idea what will be going through your average reader's mind when they hit the final snaky part, I would not be surprised if the first two words out of their mouth are "Holy Shit!"  That is the reaction I got from Cori, my cover artist, when I told here what was going to happen.  Of course, I laughed wickedly.

Ride This

I don't have to work today... I'm having my blood work done this AM for my yearly physical.  That means I've been drinking my coffee black...  They have to check for diabetes.  Last time I ate breakfast before they drew those 5 stinkin' viles of blood and my doctor said "oh, I see you failed to 'fast.'  I'm very possessive of my blood, in case you didn't know.  I like to keep it flowing where it does the most good, in my veins.
When I got home from work last night I rode a little over 8 miles - the total ride is over 27 miles.

What I find amusing about this ride is that running right through the center of the route is the Reagan Memorial Tollway... which means you must pay tolls..  The highway directly to the north, Route 38, is the Lincoln Highway... and it's free.  No tolls.  What better way is there to remember a not so good president then to charge you to drive on a road named after him?  They must really love him in Dekalb County.  Or is this is just one more example of those damn Republicans gouging the average American paycheck?
And I guess the Idiot Jerk wants there to be tanks in the Washington Mall on the Fourth.  And fly overs by Navy Jets... maybe.  Some of the planned events are being kept... secret, because the Moral Degenerate wants to be another PT Barnum, albeit one from the 'dark side.'  I can hear Melanoma complaining now "D'is is goink to give him a leetle boner ent he's goink to vant sex."  I mean, that's what this is really all about.  Not America, but the Idiot Jerk.  His ego demands it.  He needs to brag about it.  And you can bet a number of failed Evangelicals will show up to praise him.  I'm surprised at how easily they bow their heads.

Two Timed!

Saturday, the 1st of December... which means we're going to have a super duper Kid's Workshop in the store... and it's supposed to rain.  Yippee!
For those who don't know it, the Idiot Jerk in the White House had a very bad time yesterday... all... day.  As if Michael Cohen's guilty plea wasn't bad enough, or the fact that the written answers he turned in to Mueller most likely just defined him as a lying sack of shit, the worst of all possible things happened om Argentina.  His Homo Bromo Vlad two-timed him with a Saudi prince... in front of the world.

Look at those smiles!  My money says someones getting a little sugar on the side.  I can't remember the last time I saw 2 dictators giggling like little girls.  Of course, this pissed off the Idiot Jerk.  Face it, the prince is much younger and has real hair.  I've heard he's a real dynamo on the dance floor as opposed to the Idiot Jerk who struggles with a simple two-step.
And, of course, George H died.  I think it's unfortunate he will mostly be remember for his comment "read my lip.  No new taxes."  Like so many other people, he had been duped into believing Reganomics was going to work.  Republicans have always been terrible when it come to economics, in fact, you have to go back to Eisenhower to find a Republican president who left office with a solidly working economy.  Reganomics started failing right after his re-election because the only thing trickling down were the bills.  The tax breaks given to the corporations were finding their way into executive's pockets, rather than down to the common man.  This is why George H had to raise corporate taxes which is why he went on to lose his bid for re-election.
At some point the Idiot Jerk is supposed to have dinner with China's Xi.  I wouldn't be surprised if the first questions out of Xi's mouth is "where's my $50 million penthouse?"

Dressing to the left

This is my last opening!
After today I will no longer have to get up at 0300 to open the store.  And, after today I will only have 2 more closings.  Isn't life grand.
Not if you're a Republican, however.
You see, the country is Centrist, no matter how much they hate that word.  They began lying to themselves years and years ago, when Reagan had the serendipitous re-election.  We are not a conservative country.  We are a Centrist country which leans either right or left.  Like men in boxers, sometimes we dress to the left, and sometimes to the right.  The GOP doesn't understand this.  A popular president can move the country to either the left or the right.  Reagan moved us a bit to the right, Clinton centered us again, W moved us a bit to the left with his failed policies, and Obama moved us a bit to the left.  We are, taking all voters into consideration, Centrist.

An unpopular president will do the opposite.  Look at Nixon, a president whom today we would call conservative... he moved the country to the left a bit.  Now we have DT and the GOP and they, without understanding how the majority works, want to forcibly turn us to the right.  We are comfortable dressing to the left.  They want to reach in a grab us and shove us down the right side.  Well, it ain't gonna work.  Never has.  No matter how much they hate the word, we are a democracy.  And in their stupidity, they will moves even farther to the left.  This is life.

On Reagan's head

While Trump continues to revel in his negativity for all who aren't his supporters, most of whom are older, less educated, and financially less secure (if you don't believe me Google it), the rest of us have done a big jump-back as we try to fathom how the GOP could be manhandled in such a way by this neo-fascist.  It all goes back to Ronald Reagan's landslide re-election.  Having survived an assassination attempt, Reagan saw his approval rating sky rocket to the high 90's, peaking out at 97% and confused Republicans thought this meant the country, far and wide, had suddenly gone conservative.  It didn't.  People just liked the old fart.  He was very grandfatherly.  His second term in office was a mess.  This is why he's considered an average president.

George H. Bush's presidency was marred terribly by a vomiting session at a Japanese state dinner and by the fact that, following the map set out by Reaganomics, the economy started drying up.  And the GOP began to hate everybody who didn't agree with them.  When Clinton won with the campaign slogan "It's the economy, stupid," the hate went into over drive.  It was impossible for them to believe everything they held sacred was false.  They've been hating ever since.
Instead of understanding they needed to comprise after getting George W. into the White House by the skin of their teeth, they said "screw you America, your popular vote means nothing, we are in charge so shut up."  And they continued to regionalize themselves, and marginalize themselves as a party.  They used terror tactics to get W a second term and we ended up with the 2nd worst economic disaster in American history.
When Obama was elected for his first term their hate and negativity rose to a fever pitch, and at his second win of the White House they became frenzied.
Now they're facing the very real possibility of having a Democrat in the White House for a 3rd consecutive term and they're reeling back and forth.  Their front runner has alienated so many groups of voters, voters they need to get into the White House, and he doesn't care since all he's really doing is masturbating his own ego.  And they're wondering how they could have ended up in such a shit hole.  What the GOP really needs to do is put the blame where it belongs, on Ronald Reagan's head because his re-election was a lie.

Ronald Reagan is killing the GOP

I have to admit that now and then I really do have to laugh at the GOP because  long time ago they had this candidate named Ronald Reagan who managed to get himself elected president.  They have put him on this Olympic sized pedestal because of his landslide re-election.  Even though his second term in office was quite flawed, they have transcended him into almost god-like status.  What they failed to realize was that by doing so they were initiating the slow death of the Republican Party.  They didn't understand that by being an older gentleman, and surviving an assassination attempt, he had become a grandfather figure to many Americans.  They voted for him in such numbers because they liked him, not necessarily his politics.  They still don't understand his politics had nothing to do with his massive re-election.  Of course, the GOP will never honestly evaluate his second election.  They aspire to greatness.  Like the aging beauty queen, they pack on pounds of makeup to gloss over their wrinkles in order to see beauty every time they look into the mirror of the past.  By doing so,  they are letting Ronald Reagan kill the Republican Party.

Grandfather figure and Party Killer

During his second term in office a lot of shit went down.  There was this little thing called the Iran-Contra Affair in which the United States sold weapons to it's enemies in order for those enemies to get them in the hands of the Contra Rebels in Central America.  Oops, not a good thing.  If I remember correctly, he was the first sitting president forced to testify before Congress because of it.  And the Republicans fell into a frenzy of hate which still rankles them to this day.   They believed his amazing re-election gave them free reign to to what ever they wanted.  They were terribly wrong.  Instead of trying to comprehend this, they went to the dark side.  Every president they have gotten elected since then has lived down to the standards they, themselves, have set in their hearts.  By failing to grasp the true nature of that election they have done themselves in, Ronald Reagan is truly killing the GOP.  Slowly, but surely, he is wiping them out.

Chortling at the GOP

Ever since Reagan's re-election the GOP has wanted to rule the United States, unfortunately that same landslide win was a curse in disguise..  During his second term all sorts of shit hit the fan:  Nancy employing mediums to set his calendar, the bottom started falling out of the economy because Reagonomics was a failure, and there was a little thing called the Iran / Contra Affair.  Instead of taking a step back and re-evaluating, they went into attack mode. and they've been there ever since.  Any and every movement, not matter how odd or radical, they embraced and called it conservative.  They enjoy membership in something called the "birther movement" because it's a weapon of attack.  What they failed to comprehend is these crazy groups don't jive well with Independent voters and there is no way you cannot win an election with out those votes.  Now they have to deal with this asshole named Akins who is proving that the evil the GOP has embraced is buried just beneath the surface.  So, I'm chortling at the the GOP because they need to step back now and re-evaluate.  They need to stop lying and say the stand for America, because in truth they only stand for themselves.
