The Cone of Silence

 It's the weekend for some people, not me.  There was a time decades ago when I, too, worked a Monday thru Friday job, but, as I've said, that was decades ago.  So many people plan their lives around a 5 day, 40 hour work week, in fact, our economy depends upon it; that's when people spend most of their money.  Not me.  I can spend my hard earned pennies whenever I want to, the day of the week matters not to me.

We're supposed to have showers this afternoon.  That's fine.  We've been going through fire watches because the showers we're getting simply aren't soakers, they're basically a superficial wetting.  If Accuweather is right, we should be getting rain next week.

I did work yesterday.  One of my fellow specialists was fuming, he'd been called on the carpet about his frequent call-offs.  He's one of those individuals who desperately believes he should get his weekends off, so when his schedule says otherwise, he call out.  He was so angry, he began the process of transferring to another store.  That's fine.  Back when I was in HR I told many people that "if you don't like your job, get another," basically hoping they're go some where else and make people miserable.

When Howie was a puppy, the Vet recommend Purina Pro Plan for big dogs, and though a bit pricy, I took her advice.  Well, now that he's almost 8 months old, I decided to move him to Beneful, the dog food all of my other dogs ate.  Well, he does eat it, but it has to be on a plate instead of his food dish.  I think he's a bit spoiled.

I understand that Waltz wasn't the only one on that super secret Houthi text with an open Venmo account, there were three others.  Can we talk about amateurs?  Since Conservatives are trying to turn back the clock, I recommend begin holding their super secret talks the Smart way.  Orangie needs to force them all to utilize The Cone of Silence!

Quite a few people found the Orange Anus's decision to withdraw Elise Stefanik's nomination as ambassador to the United Nations telling.  Actually, that announcement made quite a number of us smile:  he's scared.  Republicans have a razor think majority in the House and it seems they believe that in a special election to replace her, the Democrats would win.  Stefanik's district is very red, in fact Orangie won it by 24%.  So, it looks like Elise sold her soul and got a Mar a Lago face for nothing.

Elonia gave some sort of interview and, as most egocentric narcissists frequently do, he doesn't understand why he is so... hated disliked by so many people.  He doesn't understand the protests.  He only wants as much as he can steal from America to make America great.  He's only thinking about his bank account Americans, and all of the different ways he can steal from help them.  And to prove this, he's giving 2 $1million prizes to 2 lucky individuals who vote Republican in Wisconsin next week.  For those of you who don't remember, he pulled this same shit in the National election, only it turned out that the drawings were rigged, and the winners weren't really winners, but people who worked on Orangie's campaign.  He's going to be sorely angry when he learns that the only ones who can be bought are losers.

 So, is this the weekend all of you have been working for?  Or is it going to be next weekend, or was it, sadly, last weekend?  For many Americans, the idea of the traditional work week is now dated.  I don't know anyone in retail who has a Monday thru Friday schedule, or the medical field, or the law enforcement field.  Not that there still isn't a group that is still entrenched in what used to be called the 'work week.'  Don't worry, your lives will change, too.

I'm going to begin working on my little patching project this morning.  I don't think it will take too long.  There may be some issues at the bottom, where I have to work around the PVC drain pipe.  The quote for the electrical work should be in my hands by Thursday.  That means I'll most likely pay for it Friday so I can schedule the work.  The plan right now is to run conduit up the outside of the house, rather than cut a number of holes in the walls so wire can be fished from the basement to the 2nd floor.

Evidently Dr. Oz, hereafter to be known simply as Ozzie, had a fund raiser at a museum in California; I guess donors in Pennsylvania aren't giving him enough to run his campaign.  Anyway, he gave his little beg speech standing in front of one of Hitler's cars.  His campaign said they hadn't thought it would be such a big deal for him to be begging in front of a Nazi car.  Can we talk about truly terrible subliminal messaging here?  You can't really see the swastika, so I guess that makes it okay.

And Trumps blow bro Vlad got some bad news this morning.  The only supply bridge running from Russia to Crimea was almost completely destroyed.  One lane is left open.  This authoritarian dictator just can't get a break, can he?  His 3 day war is now almost 9 months old.  He's had to reinstate the draft, (very unpopular).  Allies in the government are beginning to question his flawed thinking.  And, again, he's threatening to possibly use nukes.  Of course, using a nuclear weapon would prove to the world that Putin is without a doubt the worst possible dictator in all of history; having to use the ultimate weapon of mass destruction in order to win a 3 day war shrieks of incompetence.  He would go down in the history books tied with Hitler as one of the most evil losers of all time.

 And a happy Saturday morning to all.  Here in Central PA it's raining.  So, what else is new?

Yesterday was a good day off.  I had my booster vaccine.  Getting there early didn't move me through the line any faster because of that 15 minute wait after being vaccinated.  No reaction.  No soreness.  After she stuck that sharp pointy needle in my shoulder and pulled the trigger she said, "your the second most relaxed person I've had today," and that was at nearly one in the afternoon.  I told her, "it's just a shot."

This is a work day for me.  Most weekend days are.  My real weekends will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  For those of you who don't know, you can get so much more done on days off during the week than you can on a Saturday and Sunday.  There are rarely any crowds.

I did some more work on the aquarium yesterday and I'm regretting I bought an acrylic tank rather than a glass one.  None of the reviews mentioned how easilyit scratches.  It does.  Son of a bitch.  I'm actually considering replacing it with a glass tank, and moving it to another location, one behind my desk. This will mean rearranging the furniture in the dining room.  I guess it's time for me to get out my tape measure.

And, for those of you living under a rock, Steve Bannon was indicted yesterday.

Will he show up to be cuffed?  I don't think so.  Being a martyr is not in this loud mouthed coward's DNA.  He will claim he's under Executive Privilege and break the law because he's a Conservative.  Of course, Conservatives have been doing this for quite some time.  The only rules that matter for them are those they, themselves, create.  They get this from Loser #45.  I would not be surprised if Bannon runs to seek asylum in... well, maybe Russia.  

Don't Blink

I'd say "hello weekend," but most of my weekends will be filled with work.  My days as a part-time associate will fall mostly during the week.  This is fine with me.  There are many who believe that Saturday and Sunday are the only days of the week when you can get things done. Mais non, mon frère.  I learned quite a few years ago that the days of the week are much more suited for accomplishment.  There are always fewer crowds, no matter where you go.  Honestly now, wouldn't you rather not have to wait in line for 10 - 15 minutes to check out at a grocery store, or big box home improvement store.  As for going out on a Friday night, I don't need to be surrounded by a crowd to know I'm having a good time.

The weather forecast for today and tomorrow is rain.  That's fine. I work.  This will keep some of the crowds away.

Oh, and for all of you holiday lovers, our set-up crew began unpacking Christmas this past week.  That's right, we've got Halloween raging next to the registers, and Kris Kringle down near the green house.  And, in case you're wondering, people are buying this shit already.  Damn!

Meet our new Lumber Associate

At the NYT, Ezra Klein has published an which looks at projections made by David Shor, and thinks they look bad for the Democrats.  The read is interesting, however, I feel seriously flawed.  He pretty much says to ignore the past and poll the people to find out what it is they want, and then have candidates offer the voters what they desire.  His idea of ballot splitting being non-existent and thereby hurting the Democrats is odd.  Nobody I know actually splits their ballots.  They have always voted straight down party lines. Maybe it's just me, but while I like Ezra, I think here he comes across as a bit of fanboy.

Oh, and the Republicans are furious with McConnell over the debt ceiling.  They're shrieking he blinked.  The MAGA base doesn't realize that not blinking would have made them look even worse then they already are, and the default would have fallen directly into their own laps.  They would rather kill the country rather than blink.
