Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Volume 3

Yesterday was a rush day.  The weather was nice, but I seemed to spend the entire day rushing from one place to another.  First down to Lebanon for my bi-annual physical, and yes, I've reached the age where they are done twice a year.  Then I zipped over to the orange retailer I work for because I broke a window and wanted a piece of plexiglass to fix it, then to the UPS Store for some disappointing news,

I also got an 11 mile ride in on the bike where I had some time to let my mind relax.

The broken window:  When it's breezy out, a light wind will pull my back door shut, prior to that happening, the sliding door between my kitchen and the enclosed back porch will close.  This happened on Tuesday, however the sliding door jammed on a throw rug and there was no way to open it.  I ended up forcing it open, which, unbeknownst to me, broke the base pin locking it in place.  Later, when I went to let the dogs out, I went to pull it open and it fell straight back crashing into one of the windows on the back porch.  Shit.  The glass is being replaced with plexiglass since that's cheaper than having someone cut a new pane of glass to fit the hole.

I went to see Guardian's of the Galaxy Vol 3 last evening.  Some parts were very good, others?  No spoilers here.  The Rocket backstory was amazing, the section where they land on Counter Earth no so amazing.  Every Guardian gets a moment so shine.  Chriss Pratt gets to drop the F Bomb, a first for a Marvel Movie.  The movie was very entertaining, but I have to say that I'm glad the series is coming to an end, at least for the foreseeable future.

So, Trump had his little CNN Town Hall last evening and was as evil as everybody was expecting.  I'm sure CNN's ratings popped for a change, since that's the only reason the Town Hall was held.

Oh, and George Santos was indicted yesterday.  He denied every charge.  What's so surprising about the entire thing was that Kevin McCarthy came out and said there was no way he could support George for re-election.  How's that for a stunning announcement.  Could it be that one of his advisors let him know that George was not an asset to the already failing Republican Party?  That's quite possible.

The Idiot... and the Orb of Doom!

Well, it looks like the Idiot not only wants to have impressively low approval ratings, we find out that being President of the United States is only part of his ambition.  What he really wants to be, more than anything else, is Emperor of the World.  He'd originally set his sights on being 'King' of the World, but James Cameron already has his name plate on that door, so he's going to have to settle for Emperor.  This means (drum roll please) he's going to have to invade the Marvel Cinematic Universe!  And I understand Disney already has a working title:  "The Idiot... and the Orb of Doom!"

Which means the Idiot is going to have to fight, and lose, to The Avengers, as well as The Guardians of the Galaxy!  Stand back Conservatives!  Your evil plans will be foiled and smashed asunder by a shirtless Chris Evans and a shirtless Chris Platt!  Holy Crap!  The Idiot's going to get dunked by a double Chris, super charged, super hero, twin pack of six pack abs!  This is going to be huge!  really, really huge!  I can't even begin to imagine what ticket sales are going to be like.
Of course, this is all make believe, but then that's where the Idiot, as well as most Conservatives and Republicans live; out of touch, and out of mind, inhabiting a planet easily grasped in the Idiot's tiny, tiny hands.  Reality is a far flung universe to them.
Unfortunately, there will be no teaser to a sequel halfway through the credits at the end of this one.  This doesn't mean there isn't going to be a sequel, we're talking about the GOP here, they're going to keep repeating their same shitty message to an ever dwindling crowd, just like Michael Bay and his shitty Transformer movies.

The GOP declares war on Sony!

When I first heard this I went "woah!  what are Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin up to now!"  I know their far, far right ideas about  conservatism enable them to stand tall among the outlandish, but what do they have against the PS4?  Did they own a Trinitron that failed?  Then I discovered that it wasn't the Grand Old Party after all, which meant Ted and Sarah weren't involved, which, I will admit, was rather disappointing.  It turns out the GOP in the headline is really the Guardians of Peace.  Never heard of them.  What they did doesn't seem too peaceful, either.  Evidently they hacked into Sony's computers because they're pissed off about "The Interview."  In case you didn't know, it's a comedy with James Franco and Seth Rogan.  I saw the trailer for it.  While it looked like it might be interesting, it wasn't on my "go to list..." until the GOP saw fit to declare war.  In fact, since the attack on Sony, I know a lot of people who will now be sitting in the audience.  Everybody wants to know what's in this movie which royally pisses off the Guardians of Peace.  This, I'm almost positive, was not their intention.

And speaking of the Guardians of Peace, no one quite knows who they are, though many think they might be, indeed, the North Korean government.  If that's true then it would mean that the North Korean government is the one who has declared war.  Wouldn't that be rather rinky dink?  For a government to attack an entertainment company?

And that name?  Guardians of Peace?  One can only wonder if this group has, perhaps, seen Guardians of the Galaxy a few too many times.  Or do the Guardians of Peace look like this, only with different uniforms?

And is there a raccoon in their ranks?  While they may wear funny uniforms, I'm sure the answer to the last question is negative.  Doesn't it really sound a lot like an attempt at censorship.  In fact, there's nothing peaceful about their actions.  They've released sensitive information about people who had absolutely nothing to do with this film.  Maybe they should change their name to the Guardians of Shit.  Of course, GOP sounds far more Republican then GOS.

The Guardians Ride On

I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy last evening.  Usually, when a movie opens and there is hype out the kazoo, I end up being disappointed.  This was not the case.  Word of mouth was right, which is why it's raking in the big bucks.  This is surprising for a couple of reasons:  1. Movies released this late in the summer are usually not expected to have blockbuster status because they tend to have flaws (perhaps the studio execs couldn't see Chris Pratt as a leading man).  2. School starts soon, which means less time for the kids to hit it twice.  3. By this time those films expected to be heavy hitters have already knocked the buckos out of our pockets.  The last time I checked, Box Office Mojo hadn't posted Wednesday's ticket sales but Monday's and Tuesday's totals tally up to over $23 million.  If this keeps up, Guardians of the Galaxy will most likely cross the $200 million mark sometime late Saturday afternoon.

The Guardians Ride On

There were about 100 + at last nights 9:05 showing, and they were all ages, and they all seemed to be having a good time.  While so many films try and connect with the audience and fail, this one succeeds.  I think it's odd when you hear people singing along with a soundtrack and it happened last night.  There are also times when there are some really funny bits.  This is another way where the movie connects.   Where an alien does not understand something, we as earthlings understand it extremely well because Chris Pratt is speaking in a language only earthlings know.  And, of course, there is Groot.

I will admit that discovering Amy Pond, from Dr. Who fame, is, in reality, an alien named Nebula came as a bit of a shock.  I wonder if Rory knew?

Amy Pond revealed!!

Having seen a number of films so far this year, it's obvious to me that Guardians of the Galaxy will ride  on into Cinematic History.  It wouldn't surprise me if it turns out to be the biggest money maker this year.  That would be two... or is it three years in a row for Disney.
