Holy Crap! We got above freezing yesterday! All the way up to 34 (F). And, wonder of wonders, it's going to happen again today... and possibly tomorrow!. Tuesday is going to be a different story.
I did work yesterday and, as expected, we were slow. I did cut a small section of carpet, 12 x 5, but that's about it. I sold a carpet installation to a customer who had set up her measure on line. Oh, and I talked to a customer about blinds. He was not happy when he discovered how expensive it is to buy blinds for his house. We do sell cheapo plastic ones, but they come in selective sizes and they can't be cut. Curtains or drapes are much easier, and, unless you go with custom drapes, are far less expensive.
Of course, when I got home from work the Steelers were playing (they're a football team) and so my neighbor's TV was blaring, and he was shouting, and so this week, probably Tuesday evening, I'll watch something on my TV. If their loud, I play mine at normal volume.
I got a nice walk in on the treadmill yesterday before I left for work. I may try to get small one in today, but I changed my schedule, so instead of going in at 2, I start working at 12. Since I work on the new book every day, I'll have to get the rewrite done before I leave the house, which means zero time of exercise.
And I've got about 3 more week of editing before The Body in History is ready for my readers. I snapped this pick yesterday and sent it to Christos. The translation is The Little Steps.
But Khloé Kardastrophe says it's all the mayor's fault!
ReplyDeleteF**k her entitled reconstructed ass.
Her and her family used hundreds of thousands of gallons of water to keep their lawns green during the drought, so you're right, though I might remove the **.
DeleteYour both right. It's the middle class and lower class I feel for. While it's awful this happens to anyone, I admit I find it hard to feel for the wealthy people and stars who lost their homes. At least they have the money to rebuild. It a drop in the bucket for them.
DeleteYou’re freezing back East, and we in California are burning down. It is a catastrophe, and the Repugs have the whole blame game going on. The Repugs will try and turn us red with their shit agit-prop that they have underway, blaming liberal policies for fires caused by the extreme weather conditions and nothing else. The very climate change Repugs are in denial about, like in red states Florida and Texas.

I don't think they'll flip enough people in California to even make it purple. Once Trump's policies start failing, they're going to have their hands full dealing with all the dissatisfied cultists.
DeleteThe fires are unbelievable. I have now about three friends who have lost everything. One I have yet to hear from. Upon talking to my one friend, he has decided he's moving back northeast.
ReplyDeleteWe do live in one of the natural disaster free areas.
DeleteThe problem is people will not trim back shrubs and they keep trees planted up by their houses, and palms and plants that have oils in them that burst into flame when they catch fire. Another is the narrow winding roads in the hills that are difficult for large fire trucks to negotiate, made worse by parked cars that narrow and at times block the road. LAFD has complained for years about these issues and home owners repeatedly refused to heed the warnings. Also part of the blame are developers and others who insist on building in very risky areas known for fire dangers.
DeleteThere has to be a reckoning with the realities that you just can’t build and live where ever you want. The cities and counties will have to crack down and not allow rebuilding in some of these fire prone areas, or billions more dollars and precious human life will be lost. The taxpayer can’t afford all these losses, as the insurance companies let taxpayers foot the bill when the Federal government has to step in with relief funds in the billions. Mother Nature has her limits and her climate change has caught up with all of us. -Rj
