Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Jan Brewer - wreckage

If I were Jan Brewer, I would not be happy.  According many media sources she is poised to veto the hate bill in Arizona.  What kind of message is that sending to her loyal, socially conservative base?  She vetoed a similar measure last year which, I'm sure, did not please them.  These are people who spent their time and money to make sure she was re-elected.  They are expecting results from her, compensation of some sort, for their hard work.  Is she going to give it to them with this bill?  Well, you could say she is going to give it to them, but not they way they want.  The would love her to sign it just so the bill would end up in the court system.  Do you think they care how much such a thing would cost the state of Arizona?  Hell no.  They want to raise their tiny fists in the air and shriek " active courts are ruining this country!  They overturning the laws we love!"  You see, that gives them some justification for their bigotry.  And of course, Jan Brewer is in the middle of this shit storm.

Jan Brewer is a 69 year-old, white conservative.  While she may claim to be pro-business, there is no denying she is your stereotypical aging Republican.  And she is being forced into taking a moderate position.  This must almost be ripping out her heart.  The pressure to veto is coming from the business community (they don't like to see dollars and cents fly out their doors).  They've already lost a Superbowl because the state voted against Martin Luther King Day, and the prospect of losing another because of bigotry is burning their butts.  I suspect there is also a lot of pressure coming down from the GOP hierarchy.  Every time some branch of the far right manages to pull a stunt like this the entire party looks bad, and the party wants to win a presidential election.  "Yo, Jan, do you want to be one of reasons the 2016 presidency goes to the Democrats... again?"

What a wreck

It is a sad statement about her governorship when she allows such a piece of legislation to make it to her desk.  She was not oblivious to what her fellow Republicans were doing in the Arizona state House and Senate.  This was not done in secret, or behind her back.  The backers were putting this together in broad daylight.  They didn't tack it on to some overblown piece of legislation and try to sneak it through,  Nope, they new they were going to make headlines and she evidently approved, or she would have stopped them.  What a piece of wreckage she is, either that or she's a stupid, peroxide blonde.

Mitch McConnell - Number One With A Bullet

I see Mitch McConnell is in the news again because he and some of his staffers were saying bad things about Ashley Judd.  Ha ha, somebody recorded the conversation. Double ha, ha, somebody released it to the media.  Didn't something similar to this happen to Mitt Romney?  Oh, yeah, I remember that, when he talked about 47% of the American people in a not too friendly manner.  Hey, Mitch, I hate to tell you this but Politics is not like Hollywood where bad press is not better then no press at all.  If you are up for re-election glowing praise is what you want.  You do not want to be recorded sitting around with a bunch of dumb shits bad mouthing a possible opponent.  Tell me, Mitch, who do you think comes out of this smelling like roses.  From what I can tell, you're pointing your finger all over the place except at yourself.  You do understand that you were in charge, even if you were not an active participant.  No, I don't think you do.  I suspect you are going to pull a standard Republican ploy and actively hunt down the culprit in order to remove yourself from the issue.

This is one more example of the Republican Party sinking into the tar pit of oblivion.  Damn, even your insiders hate you enough to go public.  Now, I'm sure this kind of behavior happens in the Democratic Party as well.  This is what politics is.  They, however, are not the ones with recordings on a bullet ride to Number One.  A word of advice, if you want to make National News, don't do it this way.  All this does is make you look stupid.

Why CPAC fails

CPAC ends today.  Who cares.  Except for a disillusioned minority, I don't think too many people even consider the event important.  There may be money sitting in that audience but this last election proved dollars can't buy the White House, believe me, they tried.  I believe Mitt Romney gets to speak today.   Woah, what's up with that?  Don't they realize if he hadn't gotten the racist vote from the south Obama would have crushed him like a bug?  Hell no.  The key to solving a problem is understanding it, however there seems to be a large disconnect there.  Like chain smokers who know they need to stop smoking, they keep lighting up.  I don't think their addiction is so much for party ideals as it is their hatred for the Democrats.  No matter how expensive those cigarettes cost, they're going to keep on buying them.  In 2012 that cost was in votes.  Because of this, candidates who are somewhat centrist need to chew up and spit out right wing red meat just to keep the crowd happy.  Rand Paul talked about a 'new Republican Party,' of course he's talking about converting them all to Libertarians.  Who invited him? They don't seem to understand the voting public is not going to suddenly flock to their closed minded approach.  So they sit in their chairs, like smokers, an ashtray filled with dead butts by their side, and they light up another.

I saw where Mitt Romney made some sour grapes comments alleging Obama's victory had more to do with gifts to young blacks and Latinos then anything else.  Doesn't this sound a bit racist, especially when coming from an older white guy?  I suppose he must be appealing to all of those racists whose whose election night tweets were a reflection of the ugly side of America.  Like so many Republicans he is in denial.  In their minds there is no logical way they could have lost this past election which means they need to blame somebody or something.  This is quite normal with Republicans.  There is never a moment when they look at themselves in the mirror and admit to screwing up.  No, they are like that aging woman who paints her face with pounds of make up in order to convince herself she is still a porcelain beauty.  Like that old woman, they will eventually die still unaware the porcelain has cracked.  While there is some apparent bipartisanship jockeying right now history tells us the Republicans will shit it away because in their minds they can not be wrong.  If  you see anything even remotely resembling change it will only be one faction attempting to throw another faction under the bus.

Has the GOP already lost?

And you can bet they are already plotting the next presidential election.  I suspect they will run a white man for president and a token black, Latin, or woman as vice president.  Why?  Because they've tried using that playbook before:  McCain and Palin, a party ticket made in hell.  They don't understand.  For some reason they feel all they need to do is run a token to get votes.  People aren't that foolish.  They're not going to fall for the bait and switch.  Unless the GOP begins roasting some of the far right chestnuts no one is going to believe they've moved even marginally to the center.  What I suspect you'll see is more blame.  They may need to lose three elections in a row before they stop hitting the snooze button on realities alarm clock.

What a combination, Romney and ME3

This has been a bad month on the job line for me, not because I'm losing mine, no, my schedule is all topsy-turvy thanks to meetings and classes and more meetings.  I can't wait for October to get here so things can quiet down... a little, and I can get back to a regular schedule.

On a whole I'd have to say this past week was on the funny side.  I got to watch some of the secret Mitt Romney tapes and, were I a critic, would have to call them boring and uninspired.  If you've seen any of them then you know, he rambles on and on and on totally avoiding anything substantial.  I saw where the dude who threw the fundraiser is blaming the "help."  How Republican.  My suspicion is that he, himself, taped the dinner for posterity only to discover Romney is the personification of droll.

Ann Romney's plane had to land because of smoke.  Later she whined about being a candidate's wife.  What did she think this was going to be?  A Sunday Social?

Paul Ryan got booed by Seniors and then, from one of the news clips I read, went on to lie about his percentage of body fat.

Boo, baby, Boo

Quite a number of Republicans are unhappy with the campaign, including Laura Ingram, and the want it shaken up.  I'm sure they must realize by now shaking is not going to help.  They did pay attention to their own primaries, didn't they?  Mitt basically won by default because the other candidates were just to crazily far to the right.

One of the really funny things was Ralph Reed telling Evangelicals they should vote for Romney.  Isn't that going against your faith?  Could this indicate Ralph wants a heretic in the White House?  Or, is it possible he's an White Supremacist in disguise?  Perhaps he doesn't understand that if Mitt gets elected Mormon Missionaries will swarm out of Salt Lake City like a plague of locusts.

And for all of you gamers out there, the real shocker was Bioware putting forth a statement which, and I paraphrase, states that the Mass Effect Universe is large and there are more stories to tell.  I said something similar back in... May?

Back then everybody was running around like their hair was on fire because they didn't like the ending of ME3.  Why is this funny?  Because you don't kill off your golden goose and everybody was sure Bioware had loped off its head.  I said that and nobody listened.  Now I read on Gamestop, or maybe it was Rock, Paper, Shotgun that the original team is either reassembling, or has reassembled.  Surprise.

Watching the Republican Party is like watching a horror film

You know what I mean, when you have one of those "don't go in that room" moments.  Even though, as an observer you know death is waiting behind that door, nothing you can say or do is going to stop the victim.  He or she is going to open that door and step into that room.  The Republican Party isn't going into any room but they are still going to be a victim because they keep moving farther and farther to the right.  After Romney's latest blunder the only ones cheering him on are those about as far right as your can go.  He evidently doesn't understand the votes are not where he's going, no, they're somewhere closer to the middle and it seems he has no problem turning his back on them.  You can see it in his face, cluelessness.  This is not at all like running a company.  He's getting push back from all directions and he doesn't know how to handle it.  Romney is used to sitting in a room with maybe 4 or five other people and making a decision and having carried out.  Those decisions were never examined by both the media and the public.  There was a time when he could chose to outsource jobs overseas and only those immediately effected would care.  Now everything he says and does is being scrutinized and making National news, and he isn't even president.  You want to say to him "don't go in that room," but he's going to because he's a schmuck.  He wants to be the first Mormon president so he's going to open that door.  To make matters worse, the crazies on the far right of the Republican Party are all standing behind him whispering "go in the room, go in the room."
