Not the End of Days

 Well, say hello to a sunny and cold Sunday morning.  We're an hour later because of Daylight Saving time.  We lost an hour.  Personally, I think we should stop changing the clocks twice a year.  More sun later in the day works so much better for so many people.  Let's stop the change.

Weather wise, we ended up with about 4 inches of snow and a lot of gusty winds.  I have a lot of mini-drifts around the house, nothing worth taking a picture of though.  The temps today are suppose to climb into the very high 30's (F).  Tomorrow up into the high 50's (F).  By Thursday they're supposed to hit the 70's (F).  That's a little too warm for this time of the year.  Of course, no one's thinking about that.

So, I'm reading Lost in Space 2 and while there are lots of publicity photos and behind the scenes photos, there are also bits and pieces that are quite interesting:  Bill Mumy lived close enough to 20th Century Fox Studios he rode his bicycle to work.  Another fun fact: the change from the drama and scifi of the first season to the absurdity of the final season was initiated by CBS because the show aired at 7:30 PM on Wednesdays, which was 'family hour' and they didn't want anything too intense for the little kiddies.

The heating pad I bought for Biggie might work if he laid on it.  He doesn't.  In fact, he'll lay down beside it.  I'm planning on calling the Vet tomorrow and seeing about putting him on the Gabapentin.  

And one of the things that caught my eye was the fact that there are a number of Evangelical pastors attempting to link what is happening in the Ukraine to the End of Days.  Holy Shit. Literally!  A lot of the Cracker Jack Crazies are getting desperate.  Many of them believe God sent DOA Trump to give them 3 conservative Supreme Court justices in order to overturn Roe v Wade.  One can only wonder why He would do that if we're in the End of Days.  It wouldn't really make any difference, would it?  However, many of us know DOA Trump had nothing to do with those Supreme Court justices; it was all Mitch McConnell, which means they really got that wrong.  Keep in mind, this is a very desperate bunch of people.  They've been waiting 2200 years (give or take century or two) for the End of Days and it hasn't happened.  Desperate people will believe anything.  The truth is their extremism is only going to leave them with a flat tire.

The Raising of the Hands

Okay, so this is the second time publishing this today.  Blogger evidently chose to publish an unwritten previous draft.

So, it's Wednesday.  Yesterday was rather uneventful.  I did go to PetSmart to pick up an algae scrapping kit.  While there, I checked out the glass aquarium tops and the dimmable LED lighting.

I also call the Vet about Biggie's prescription.  I'd like the to either increase the dosage, or prescribe a stronger med.  The Carprofen isn't doing what it died three months ago.  They did bloodwork on him back in August to see if he could tolerate a stronger med... he weighs in at 114, no problem.  I'm just curious as to what the cost is going to be.  They charge $48.70 for a month supply of the Carprofen, Chew charges 12.60 (less my 5% discount).

I did get something nifty in the mail yesterday.  Lost and Found in Space 2.  I was a big fan of the series when I was a kid, not so much so of the Netflix series, which seemed to ignore everything about the original, except for that fact that the Robinson family were the stars.  And yes, it is signed by the two authors.

Joe Biden gave his first State of the Union Speech last evening.  I didn't watch.  I rarely watch speeches.  However, just about every media outlet noted that Boebert put her white trash roots on display.  She and Marjorie Taylor Dumbass chanted something or other.  I remember this kind of shit happening in high school, which pretty spot on when it comes to noting the mental maturity.  Biden spoke of the Ukraine, and... surprisingly, both Republicans and Democrats stood in a rare moment of solidarity.  Now, if only we could get them to stop siding with Putin.  Dana Milbank provides a very good analysis on this Republican need to see Biden fail.  This hatred for Democrats is so deeply ingrained they would support a ruthless dictator.  They are truly treasonous.

And, finally, Wendy Rogers, representative from Arizona, was censured by the Republicans of Arizona yesterday.  This stupid neo-Nazi supporter went to the same rally in Florida as Marjorie Taylor White Trash and Paul Gosar, (another brain dead Republican from Arizona) and then Tweeted glowing statements.  She bristled with rage when the vote to censure was almost unanimous.  Personally, while opposed to striking women, I do believe she deserves at least one good knuckle sandwich.  Can I see a count of hands from those who agree with me?

Size

Holy Crap, did I sleep in late this morning... late night for me here.  I binged on the last season of Lost In Space.  I have to say the writers and producers finally managed to understand what genre of show they were dealing with; not a sci-fi family drama.  The action / set pieces needed to be focalized, that never happened in in the first season.  Most people don't know that the show had it's roots in a comic book, Space Family Robinson, about one family's adventures.  The showrunners for the reboot never understood how important that fact was in telling their updated story.  Season 2 had more about the Robinsons, they had adventures, but the 'colony' story was always in the background.  Season 3 was the last of the series and the writers almost got the adventure part right.  I'm not saying there might not be a spin off called big Will Robinson and his robot, I say big because Will Robinson is now 5'11" (1.8m) and towers over many of his cast members.

And for those who haven't heard, Devin Nunes is leave the House... fast... within the month.  He's going to join the new Trump Media Group.  This leaves most people scathing their heads.  Judd Luegum at Popular Information has done some fact checking and believes the media group is nothing more than a mirage.  With the redistricting done in California, there were questions as to whether Nunes could get his ass re-elected.  And, being a true conservative thinking only of himself, when he heard the Song of the Grifter he decided he wasn't going to just sing a few bars, he wanted to become the conductor for this grifter orchestra.  And Devin doesn't know a single thing about media management.

Ultimate Loser

It's Friday!  Payday (for me)! and a day before I have my Semi-Mid-week Hump Day.  That's what I'm calling it.  My SMH.  Sounds like either a test or a medical condition.  "Some struggle greatly with their SMH, not me."  This is because we are entering our boring season.  No one wants to have flooring installed during the winter in this part of the country.  The weather is too chancy.  There are usually 2 reasons our customers replace their carpet:  They're selling the house; The old stuff is giving them too many rug burns!  Actually, I made that last one up.  If it is true, most customers don't talk about it which, upon thinking of the people I sell carpet to, is very, very kind of them.
So, what did the dogs do after a fun day of playing with their toys:

Since there are new episodes of "Lost in Space" on Neflix, I started watching the show again.  The episodes I've seen so far look promising.  Last season the writers took way too much time building characters.  It wasn't until the very last seconds of the very last episode that the Robinson family became "Lost in Space."  That's right.  Last season should have been titled "We're Going to be Lost in Space 10 Episodes From Now."
And, from what I see in the news, the Idiot Jerk in the White House goes on a Twitter rage every day about having his ass impeached.  He is a piece of White Trash who has spent most of his life doing what ever he wants, relying on attorney's to clean up his shit before too many notice how bad it stinks.  His unbounded selfishness is only surpassed by his total lack of compassion.  Instead of talking up his attributes, tiny as they are, his base angrily shouts "this is how he is, just deal with it."  And now his feelings have been hurt, ooohhhh.  Now, isn't that a shame?  He is being treated the same way he has treated so many, many others.  He doesn't have a clue, but his fall is just getting started.  He started losing long before that first time he lied to himself, that moment when he told himself he was a winner.  He is the ultimate loser.

The Nice Day

Well, it's Saturday and the temperature will hit the mid 80's (F) again, and I decided to take the day off from work.  That's right, I called off.  This will give me 5 days off in a row.  Very nice.  I've had a lot of sales this past week, so I'll probably hit 200% of my goal, which should make everybody happy.
I saw this AM that we shot missiles at Syria.  This is the 2nd time we've shot missiles at that country.  The first time the Idiot Jerk in the White House called the Russians to let them know in advance... and of course Syria is a close ally of Russia.  This time the Idiot Jerk Tweeted up a storm on how we were going to fire missiles.  Stupid things like "get ready, here they come."  Ooops,  Let's make sure they have enough time to move their war toys out of the target zone.  Now the Idiot Jerk is crowing "mission accomplished."  Excuse me, someone with at least an average IQ should tell him this was a mission failure.
And I watched some of "Lost in Space" last evening.  I like it.  There are a lot of references to the original series, including the end music.  Dr. Smith is... really bad.  For those who don't know, or who don't remember, Dr. Smith was really bad for the first season, when the series was in black and white.  In fact, that whole season the show's focus was much more dramatic.  It wasn't until the second season that Smith became a caricature.  The Netfilx reboot is much more like the first season.  Let's hope it stays that way.

The only thing I didn't understand was the chicken.  So, if anybody knows how a chicken got on one of the Saturn space ships, please let me know.

And because today's so nice, the back door is standing open so the dogs can run in and out.  They will be sleeping well this evening.
