Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Some little Changes

It Friday, a little after 0600, and I've been up for about an hour:  load of laundry in the washer, a quick scan, through the news, and breakfast eaten.  I had been sleeping in until around 0630, but I have to get my car inspected this morning at 0800, which means I have to leave at 0730 because of traffic.  This is fun stuff, right?

I cancelled my Panda anti-virus yesterday, my current subscription runs until the end of the year.  A long time ago, when I originally signed up, Panda was considered great and inexpensive.  Well, in the years since then the price went up because they were offering services I was already getting, like a VPN, which comes with my Verizon, and password protection, which comes with Google.  And, it did grow expensive.  I will look around and see if there's another anti-virus service that strikes my fancy.

Cancelling my subscription to the NYT is also preeminent.  When I look at how often I click on one of their articles, or opinions, and compare that to the $18 a month I pay... well, it just isn't worth it.  Quite often when you threaten to cancel, they'll drop their subscription price.  If the deal is good enough, I might reconsider.

For those of you wondering how I'm going to spend the hour while my car gets inspected, well, I'm taking this baby along, all 188 pages (and I'm just getting to the denouement).  One thing I am really pleased with are the character's names.  I struggle sometimes with the names, changing them over and over again.  In this book there weren't a lot of changes, and for those who read it... well, you'll get to meet Cookie Lindquist, and Ally Lawrence.  There's Remy Devore and Raj Benet, and of course that inimitable torch singer Sheila Caine.

And evidently that loon Tom Cotton has written an op-ed piece for the WSJ, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch, that the real person responsible for the current inflation is Jerome Powell.  Of course, this means that Trump, who put Powell in the position, is also responsible.  Interesting, eh?

Oh, and a number of Republicans voted to increase the debt ceiling.  I'm sure that will go over well with Loser #45.

Pantyhose

For those of you stuck inside your homes, it's the beginning of the work week... also known as Monday.  This is 6th out of 7 days in a row.  Were I working full, 8 hour days I'd be getting testy.  Right now, my full time schedule doesn't kick in until May 19.  I am not so excited.  Still, I'm healthy and somewhat fit, so why not pound money into the bank account?
I'm not going to ride the bicycle this afternoon.  Yesterday was the 6th day in a row.  I'm averaging  65 + miles per week.  Not bad.  It's time to give the legs a little break.  Just a little one though, I need to pick up the pace a little if I want to get 2500 miles in this year.
I saw where the Idiot Jerk in the White House has now up the casualty count to as many as 100,000, and again he's blaming the Chinese.  Very, very Republican.  Look for a scapegoat.  Of course, he's stupid.  I don't think he comprehends how many times he's on the record denying the seriousness of Covid19.  He thought a possible pandemic was unimportant.  I find it truly insulting for him to now say that even "one life is too many."  This is what happens when he reads a script written by someone who knows he's going to lose his bid for re-election.  See how much his phony sympathy will be run over as he races to hist first rallies with his MAGA head supporters.  America know this.  The majority of voters know a charlatan when they see one.
And what about that hussy Tara Reade abruptly cancelling her interview on Fox?  Did I spell her last name correctly?  I can't be certain.  She's had several aliases through the years.  I guess the name depends upon the role she's playing.  An opinion writer for the NYT who was trying to legitimize her complaints was soundly trashed by over 3500 comments, mostly by women.  As my friend Betsy says, 27 years ago, if Tara was wondering the halls of Congress without wearing pantyhose she was on the hunt.  Me?  I don't know about pantyhose.  That's something I never would have thought of.
Finally, I thought I'd let you know what Glen was supposed to be.

And this is what he... she... it chose to be.

Well, as long as he... she... it is happy.

Yesterday or Today

Monday, the beginning of a new seven day stretch.  Notice, I don't say week.  That implies having a 'weekend' which, for so many people, no longer exists.  Interestingly enough, the days of the week normally don't exist in our entertainment.  Oh, sure, they get a mention in music every now and then, but mostly to talk about the wonders of the weekend, or dismally having to get up and go to work on Monday morning.  They never get a mention in movies, or plays, or television.  No Marvel superhero is ever going to have the line "it's Tuesday morning and by my calculations Thantos will begin destroying the Universe on Thursday."  That would be too much reality, you know?  Complicating things even more is that some believe the week starts on Sunday while there are others who say it's Monday; they love their fixed work week.

I saw a humorous article in Bloomberg yesterday by a comedian who claimed the Idiot Jerk in the White House was on track to be re-elected.  He said polls tell you nothing.  When it comes to the ballot box voters will ignore everything else and vote for the economy.  He pretty much declares morals have no value, that people will always vote with their wallet.  No doubt, this was written by a Conservative, one of those flawed individuals whose life revolves around his portfolio.
Interestingly enough, there was another article in the NYT in which the author stated that the more the Idiot Jerk plays to and radicalizes his base, the less likely his chances of being re-elected become.  Plainly speaking, the more he alienates Independent voters, the less likely they are to cast their ballot for him.  By playing only to his base he not only ignores the Independents, but incites them to vote for someone less volatile.
And I saw Chris Wallace had a little chat with Kellyanne yesterday.  He brought up all of those closed door hearings Republicans had regarding Benghazi.  Here retorts was something like "well, that was different. they weren't trying to impeach the president."  All of that peroxide she uses to bleach her hair has done more than burn her roots.  In case you didn't know, that's how the Idiot Jerk plays to his base not the Independents.  At least she didn't say something really stupid, "like he's a great political genius."
Finally, I saw that the Idiot Jerk has waded into British politics.  He said things like "Brexit needs to go through in order to insure great trade deals," and "we will buy more from the UK than they sell to the EU."  If that's true, the British laborer is going to take a big hit.  We buy so much from Asia because they have cheap labor and prices are lower.  People in the UK, think about what this moron is saying.

Sprouting nuts

Well, it's Sunday and some of you are sleeping in - that seems to be what a lot of people usually do on Sundays.  Oh, sure, some will get up and go to Church, but attendance seems to be on the decline.  Me?  I did free weights.  An hour's worth.  My free weights are all done with dumbbells and focus on the upper body.  Cycling keeps the legs in shape.
Evidently there was some sort of media event last evening and Sarah Huckabee Sanders got roasted... and some Republicans are fuming.  This is the same party that for 8 years shrieked about Obama's citizenship.  If they can't take the heat they need to stay out of the kitchen.  Am I right?  And, of course, the Idiot Jerk was farting into a microphone out in Michigan totally ignoring his teleprompter.  Maybe if someone told him his fortune depended upon staying on message he might listen... Nope.  I suspect that only happens when he sees someone waving his Golden Shower video.
Anyway, I saw in the NYT how much of a numb nuts he is, especially in regard to the mid-term elections.  Why would he listen.  In his mind, addled as it is, his 2016 victory means he can do what ever he wants.  The polls were wrong then.  He believes they'll be wrong again.  Oh, and I'm sure he's also counting on his Russian friends to intervene should it look like he's losing the house.  If you think you've seen the worst of him already, just wait until the day after the mid-terms.  Don't be surprised if the shit explosion will be so terrible the walls of the White House will be leveled, which will mean a long decontamination period until we're able to rebuild.
On the bright side, tomorrow is always another day.  The temperature is supposed to be a little warmer.  Spring might finally be arriving... or maybe summer's going to smile his friendly face a bit early.  That's what happened last year.
All of the trees around the house have burst into bloom.  Tomorrow, I'll walk out to where I planted my walnuts to see if they've sprouted.  If they have I'll have to write an entry about how wonderful it is when your nuts sprout.

I'll be looking for this

St Patty's, wiretapping, and corned beef

Well, it's St. Patty's Day.  My friend Patty was actually born on this day XX years ago.  Is she going to drink any green beer to celebrate?  Probably not.
Remember the Russian woman to whom I sold carpet?  Evidently she's made allegations stating that the "installer" behaved inappropriately.   We suspect this is her attempt to get free carpet.  Interestingly enough, the "installer" called while on the job and complained that she was making him feel uncomfortable with her comments.  And she told me she was only there for a brief period because she had to leave for a doctor's appointment.  We are all getting bad vibes from her.  I suspect she might be a friend of Trump... well, maybe not, just a loser trying to get free carpet.
Anyway, I see the Idiot in Chief has now changed his story, and that he'd heard about the wiretapping on Fox News and read about it in the New York Times... and the GOP is not backing him up.  Of course the guy who wrote the article that set his orange hair ablaze in the first place claims the sources are impeachable.  Which means they're now saying the New York Times is reliable.  These guys need to get their shit in one sock.
And, of course, the Idiot's new budget wants to torch everything Conservatives hate... everything.  The stupid thing is never going to be passed.  DOA.  What surprised me about the cuts was how much Conservatives truly hate society.  They do.  They don't care about health care.  They don't care about things that hold America together, that make a America American.  They are a very two dimensional party, no depth what so ever.
Still, today is St. Patty's day.  And I made a corned beef brisket.

I like corned beef.  I make mine in a crock pot, no boiling here.  I don't like boiled meats,  I don't do a lot of spices either, just an onion and a dash of vinegar.  Oh, and I cut off most of the fat and feed it to the dogs.  They get to celebrate too!
