Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

The Target Market

Well, here it is Tuesday.  I'm going to bake bread today... and begin the painting of my stairwell.  I have chosen a nice, calming color,  soothing to the eye, imbued with hues relaxing and tranquil to quell the trembling of my battered aura... it's called Zen.  Shit!  Maybe I should switch to Romance Novels.
So, while the movie theaters are still open, I went to see "The Invisible Man" last evening.  It dragged at times.  The first half works really hard to make you sympathize with Elizabeth Moss... and I didn't.  She claims to be running away from an abusive marriage...  I tend to be very cynical about people who make generalized claims without be able to site specifics.  In the original, Claude Rains ran around naked to achieve full invisibility, this was not the case with Oliver Jackson-Cohen.
I did get some rather sad news yesterday.  My store is considered "essential."  That's right, we are not going to close.  This is because a number of contractors, plumbers and electricians, and so on, shop our store for their needs.  Personally, with Covid - 19 preparing to run rampant through the country, I would not want some stranger in my house.  I picked up my paint yesterday and there was a woman there with her kids... cause schools are closed.  And she was browsing paint colors.  Can we talk stupid here?  She has absolutely no clue it is going to be people like her who are going to be spreading this virus.
When I go back to work on Thursday, I will need to find out how they are going to deal with people like me... since the virus has designate people over 65 as part of its Target Market.
And I guess yesterday was also the day when the Idiot Jerk in the White House finally understood how terribly serious the situation is with Covid - 19.  He is going to be remembered not for the economy, but for how atrocious he was handing this pandemic.  Projections for the amount of deaths in this country are dire.  This moron now knows he's going to go down in the history books as the worst president in the history of this country.  Blame those who put this monster into power.
And... finally, to end on a nicer note.  Blossoms are sprouting all over my peach tree.  This is what spring looks like.

Welcome Spring.

8.6 millions reasons to give Thanks

It's Thanksgiving, a floating holiday, floating because it's not a specific date, it's a day.
The dogs are playing downstairs.  In case you're wondering, yes, Big Seig has taken off a few pounds and is much more active.
Thankfully, I am going to my sister's today.  My nephew and his girlfriend are going to be there.  I will have to act surprised because they're going to tell me they're expecting their second child.  I will do this.  I will eat, smile, and chat for about an hour and a half and then leave.  No, we do not gather for hours and talk football.  I had a couple of glasses of wine last night so I'll stay dry.
I started watching "The Haunting of Hill House" last evening.  It's good, though I'm still waiting for either Michael Huisman or Oliver Jackson-Cohen, or both, to start taking off their clothes.  I have a funny feeling that isn't going to happen.
And finally, on this great Thanksgiving day, I have a little statistic which causes Crazy Christian Conservative Republicans to burst into tears.  This past midterm election?  Even though the counting is still continuing, and Democrats keep racking of both state and national seats, the vote was overwhelmingly Anti-Idiot Jerk in the White House, Yeah... (this should put a shine on your Thanksgiving) by about 8.6 million votes.  The last time the popular vote swung so wildly to the left was in 1974... in the the mid-term right after Nixon resigned.  Back then the total was around 8.7 million voters.  There's a good possibility we will meet and surpass that 1974 number.

When size matters

So, I bought a new mattress for my futon - this one is 8" thick as opposed to 6" and has inner coil springs.  Size matters.  At one time I had an expensive sofa in the living, unfortunately one, or both of the dogs, couldn't tell the difference between the sofa and a super, duper stuffed dog toy.  Now I have a futon with disposable mattresses.  The last one wasn't damaged that badly, but I really wanted something that was thicker... bigger, if you know what I mean.  And with this one, I also bought a cover, something durable, with a pattern.  In a few years, when the dogs settle down more, I will once again get myself an actual sofa, till then the futon will have to do.

On the entertainment side of things, I watched a bit of NBC's "Emerald City," last night, in fact I made it through the entire first hour before the commercials got to me.  The writing is okay, though I cringed when Toto got his name.  The cast is, for the most part, decent, including some guy by the name of Oliver Jackson-Cohen who evidently doesn't have a brain, but does that matter when you're 6'3"?

However, as I said, the writing is... well, let's say uninspired and dumbed down, and, of course, there were all of those damn commercials.  I don't understand the mentality of people who will patently watch something which has been chopped to shit by advertising. but then.  These are, no doubt, the same idiots who voted for DT.
