Disapproval Ratings

Can you believe it?  Our outside temp is sitting at 37 (F), which is quite warm when you consider last week we were lucky if our daily high made it out of the teens.  This doesn't mean that our nightly lows are going to be be... well, low.  They are.  The long range forecast has them still dropping down into the 20s (F), but this is a nice beginning to the end of winter.  

Much was accomplished yesterday.  Shopping was done.  So was laundry.  I got a very nice 10 mile ride finished.  Editing is proceeding.  Over all, I'm quite satisfied with yesterday, and today began early.  0500 found me working on the edit.  While some might same I'm editing, this is also a period where I rewrite.  Things get moved around.  Some points are enhanced.  Details get added.  Words get dropped off.  The Body in 4:4 Time is in a flux of variations.  Fundamentally, everything stays the same.  This period is actually a lot of fun.

I will be baking bread this afternoon.  Ah, the smell of freshly baked bread.

Today, among other things, I'm going to need to work on the aquariums.  The algae problem seems to be returning.  The fish don't seem to mind.  I'm thinking of replacing the 50 gallon tank in the writing room with a 20 gallon, within the next month or so.  I'd combine the two tanks into one, but the one in the living room as Barbs, and they're not good with other fish.

I needed a pic for this morning, so I just ran upstairs and took one of Howie on the bed.

And the shit show continues.  Airspace around the El Paso, Texas airport has been shut down for the next 10 days because of security reasons.  As someone else pointed out, the last time airspace was shut down was during 9/11.    Back then America knew what was happening.  Is this Orangie just causing chaos for the sake of chaos?  Could this, perhaps, be another attempted distraction from the Epstein files?  Personally, I think that's more likely.  Both Congressmen and Senators are able to review the unredacted files and except for the few wack job, cultists, most are stunned, some visibly.  There's a video of Lauren Boebert leaving the building.  Her comment was that Ghislaine Maxwell deserves more time in jail and in a harsher prison.  Bobo was very upset.  An hour ago Senator John Thune was call for a full release of the unredacted files.  Oh, and did I tell you that the airspace of El Paso has been shut down?

According to NBC, this is where Orangie's approval rating sits.

And his Bureau of Labor Statistics just released the jobs report for January.  Don't believe it.  They're saying that 130,000 jobs have been created.  He needs this lie to back-up the lie that the economy is doing great.  He and his administration are not renowned for either their honesty, or accuracy.

Benito Breaks Records!

The warm-up begins today, though you would know that by our outside temp which is sitting at 6 (F). In spite of our current temp, the cold wave is indeed moving away.  Our high today is predicted to be in the upper 20s (F), tomorrow we should be cruising into the mid 30s (F), and by Wednesday we will be sailing in the mid 40s (F).  Since we are still in the season of Cold, temps will fall again, but they will not crash they way they've done over the past month.  This is a good thing.

On Sundays, I always work a full shift.  While I did talk to 3 or 4 people yesterday, mostly I got paid to do laps, and sit on my butt.  Having both the Winter Olympics and the Superbowl on the same day is a retail sales killer.  This was fine.  They did bring in pizza for everyone working.  Being the grazer I am, more than 2 slices were eaten.  I have yet to step on the scale for my Monday morning weigh in.  When I do, I'm sure those of you withing 1000 miles will hear wails of horror.

Mondays mean retail.  My shift starts earlier, at 12, this means I get to leave at 6 PM.  This is fine with me.

And, of course yesterday was the Benito Bowl.  You do know who and what I'm talking about, don't you?  I don't subscribe to Peacock, so I had to watch the record breaking halftime show in snippets.  Believe me when I tell you there were thousands of them, of course nothing beats watching the entire show.  

Turning Point USA did counter program with show that was pre-recorded and lip-synced, but the, would expect anything else from phony Christians than a phony half-time show?

Orangie didn't like the show, but then he hates everything that doesn't kiss his ass.  I was surprised that the Washington Post said the show was filled with "family values."  

There was a time when the Republican party was always singing those two words, "family values."  Now with a probable pedophile in the White House, that phrase has been scrubbed from their vocabulary.  

I saw this morning that the crook Tommy Homan (he's now running ICE since Noem proved she's nothing more than an ugly face in cosplay), said that Orangie's tough immigration policies will fail if American support for them continues to waver and fall.  This is a lesson the administration should learn, but of course to do that they would have to admit they have made a mistake.  Failure will continue.

At 23

The outside temp was 51 (F) when I looked around 0600.  Again, they will be climbing.  They climbed yesterday.  When I checked in mid-afternoon, the outside temps were sitting at 82 (F).  That's not bad at all for October, when the leaves are supposed to be dropping like rain from the trees.  Around my house, the leaves haven't begun to change color yet.  Will they?  Or is this year going to be a replay of previous years when the simply turned brown before they dropped.  Many of the small leaves on my river birch have done just that, seriously camouflaging the Howie droppings in my back yard.

I did work yesterday.  Slow was the word.  They have started marking down prices of our Halloween decorations and we still have 3 weeks until Halloween.  This is surprising, since we were told that quantities were limited this year; they come from China.  But then sales have not been stellar.  The 18 foot scarecrow, originally costing $399 has been marked down to $299.  That's a big price cut.  On days when sales are slow I walk laps.  My route takes me through outside garden.  On one trip I talked to several garden associates who were dealing with a bit of dilemma: there are still a number of the "limited" Halloween decorations still being stored out there and that space is going to be needed for the "limited" number of Christmas decorations our freight department is already receiving.

Tomorrow I'll be harvesting the oregano I've been growing on my kitchen window sill.  What shall I plant next?  Basil?

And for those who missed it, Orangie the Anus spoke to our top military leaders at Quantico, it didn't go well.  This article in The Guardian by Sydney Blumenthal sums it up quite clearly.  The whole point of that embarrassing failure was for those leaders to show both Orangie and Petey rousing support.  Instead, they sat on their hands.  Their oath of allegiance is to the Constitution of the United States, not some dementia addled ego maniac.  People wondered why no one saw Orangie for a few days after that fiasco, and I'm betting that's because it was such a blow to his ego.  They are not on his side.  Will he attempt to retaliate against those who didn't grovel?  He will try.  Remember, this loser can hold a grudge from here to Hell and back.

Mastery of the Con

 We're in the 2nd day of our current Polar Vortex.  The high today will be in the mid 20s (F), and, as in past winters when we had long periods of sub-freezing weather, I am climatizing.  While I know it's cold, I'm no longer experiencing the bitter Brrr when I go outside.  As a species, we are quite adaptable, otherwise we would never have survived for so long.  Still, I am looking forward to Spring and the warmer temperatures it will bring.

I had my hair cut yesterday.  Haircuts are one of those things I have always had dislike for, unfortunately I don't like long hair either because it takes more time to maintain.  A simple shampoo and air dry is fine with me.  Having to spend money in order to maintain a certain appearance should not have to be a priority in life.  With prices predicted to rise, I will start giving myself buzz cuts again.

Also, much was accomplished yesterday.  A new pump and filter was bought for the big aquarium.  The overly large pump and filter that sits on a shelf beneath it is going away.  I've always hated having to change the filtering medium.  Its replacement will hang off the back of the tank.  

I also got a 6 mile bike ride in.  That was nice.  In Corsica.  I've done the ride before, but Tacx has updated it.

And I went to see Captain America:  Brave New World.  I liked it at lot, possibly because right now it might not be a bad idea if there was a super hero Democracy could count on. Anthony Mackie does a good job transitioning a character many identify with Chris Evans.  Harrison Ford played against character, which was interesting.  Not all of the reviews have been kind because, in the end, this is still a Marvel movie with a superhero.  I mean, what were these reviewers thinking?  That Marvel might decide to do a version of Jane Eyre?  

As for politics, for the most part, I stayed away form social media, however, what I did see and notice is that certain outlets are beginning to push back and Orangie and his cultists.  I did watch a short clip of Stevie Miller shouting over a correspondent about how much fraud they were finding, shouting over a question about prices and the fact that they were still climbing.  They are getting frustrated.  As I've said countless of times before, he and his cultists have always failed to understand there are both consequences and ramifications to their actions.  For example, they evidently fired essential people who were researching Bird Flu.  These fools, however, don't just terminate the position, they eliminate all information regarding the unemployed individuals, including phone numbers and email addresses, so, when they discover these people are necessary, there's no way to contact them.

And Orangie and Elonia had some sort of love/bro fest on Fox where the only thing they didn't do was canoodle. Even though some think they'll be at each other's throats soon, I'm suspecting they are too enraptured with each other's mastery of the con. 

Good Riddance

 Sunday is looking to be another nice day.  The temps are expected to be in the upper 70s (F) and wonderful sunshine is on the way.  Tomorrow, our temps might hit 80 (F).  Wowza!  I can live with this.  Of course, there's always a flip side to every coin and starting Tuesday our temps will begin sinking to more normal temps for this time of year.  I don't mind things being cool.  Heh, I don't even mind the cold.  

Yesterday was boring at work.  I did manage to get 2 measures for carpet installation, that gives me 3 for the week.  That will keep management happy.  I don't think I'm going to meet my sales goal, but since I'm so far above my goal for the year I'm not worried.  

One of my old store managers died suddenly yesterday morning.  He was in his upper 50s, so we think it was probably a heart attack.  He and I never got along, in fact, he's the only store manager I ever raised my voice to, and so I almost feel bad that I'm not more sympathetic.  Unfortunately, my opinions of him are shared by so many others who worked with him and that's a shame.  I would like to think that if I were to die suddenly, people who think of me kindly, rather than say, "do you remember when he did this?"

I got an email from SquareSpace regarding the chargeback I did to my credit card.  It turns out that Google sold my domain name to SquareSpace, and that $30 charge on my card was the renewal fee.  Google used to send out emails letting me know when it was going to renew.  SquareSpace didn't do that.  Now I have to call my credit card company and cancel the chargeback.  See what happens when you don't send an simple notification.

And, yesterday in Latrobe, PA, Trump talked about Arnold Palmer's dick.

I watched a clip, but turned it off.  I simply can't stand the sound of his whiny voice.  Still, the fact that the New York Times, which has been doing a lot of sane-washing of Trump, would publish an article about his decent into vulgarity is important.  While they reported that his supporters loved it, they were quick to point out that his "dick" talk was most likely going to turn swing voters away.  I didn't check, but I wondered how they reported his telling his supporters that Harvey Weinstein got schlonged.   I know a lot of people are saying this proves he's sinking into dementia, honestly, I think this 78 year-old man is finally showing the public his private side.  He's always been morally and ethically decrepit,  now, he's showing people his true colors.  I suspect this is the final test for all of those Christians who believe he was sent by God to realize the truth.  I don't think they understand the Gates of Hell await.  Well, good riddance.

Rent (not the musical)

 So, it's Thursday morning and we have rain.  The temperature is predicted to climb up into the mid 70s (F) today, humidity is supposed to increase, and late this afternoon or early this evening we may or may not be having additional thunderstorms.  This is the weather pattern we're under for the next several days.  Most of the rain from Hurricane Helene will have dissipated by the time her remnants roll into Central PA, at best they're saying we might get another inch of rain.

I went rowing yesterday rather than cycling.  Different muscle groups.  I should have remembered what happens when new muscle groups, those that haven't been stretched or worked in a while, get used.  I didn't, and last evening I got a cramp in my right quad when I stood up.  Honestly, it was a very good thing I wasn't holding a glass of wine.  

One of the conversations I had while in Greece was about how expensive it was to live in Athens, that a decent apartment went for around 900 Euros a month.  (I checked, for a one bedroom apartment, the average rent is between $700 and $900 per month.)  And I said something to the effect of that being similar to what people pay in Central PA.  Being a home owner, I was clueless when it came to knowing what people pay for rent.  Also, being the curious type, yesterday I spent a few minutes checking to see what the average rent payment withing a 5 mile radius of my house.  Wow!  was I wrong.  While you can get a studio apartment for around $1000, it's tiny.  The average cost for a one bedroom apartment with appliances is between $1400 and $1600 a month.  I also know that the average take home pay from one of our full time plumbing specialists is around $1900 a month.  So, over here we get paid better, but our rents are about $500 a month higher, and that's in Central PA.  An apartment in a city comparable in size to Athens would be much more expensive.

And it seems as though Eric Adams, the Mayor of NYC, was caught taking... handouts from foreign governments like Turkey, and Israel (there are several more listed).  When ever I hear things like this, I just want to smack these people up side their heads.  I get angry because they turn out to be that stupid, thinking they're going to get away with it.  Why are so many, so easy to corrupt.  Why do they fail when it comes to making a moral judgement?  I don't feel sorry for this man in the least.  He rationalized his way into make a terrible decision, and now his historical footnote will be that he was corrupt.  

Trump Fakes an Injury

The weather was beautiful yesterday!  Today we're going to have a repeat!  Nice.  Sunny.  Low humidity.  Right now, the outside temp is 66 (F) The temps are predicted to hover in the mid 80s (F).  Now, how's that for a perfect summer day.

I had breakfast with my brother yesterday.  He was recently laid off.  That's not a good thing to happen to you when you're 60, and I don't know if he understand the implications of that yet.  Even though laws have been passed to eliminate age description, I can tell you that unless a company is actively higher upper middle-aged people, they're most likely ignoring the laws, especially if they're a conservative company.

After that heavy, heavy breakfast, I got a 2.4 mile walk in at Adams - Ricci.  I took my camera so I get more familiar with using it, and to see what if felt like hanging around my neck by the strap.  I'm planning on using it for most of the pictures in Greece, though the phone is going to be used for taking selfies.  That's something I'm not really looking forward to; I've never been one to plant my face all over the place.

Later in the afternoon, I also went for a 13 mile bike ride.  

All in all, yesterday was highly productive.  I love days like that.

And, of course, last night the Spawn of Satan accepted the Republican nomination for president wearing a teabag.

Republicans simply do not understand how stupid that looks.  I searched for images of a grazing wound caused by a rifle similar to an AR-15.  The velocity of that bullet even grazing the tip of his ear would have torn off skin and cartilage.  If Trump had been grazed, much of his ear would be gone.  Also keep in mind, this is Trump, had a bullet done physical damage graphic pictures of his injuries would be front page news.  As I said before, he, no doubt under the supervision of Putin, is tea bagging America.  He has never been anything more than a two-bit con artist, a liar from the day he was born.  And from what I've seen, all he did was repeat one of his rally speeches.  

And it does sound a lot like Biden is being convinced to drop out of the race.  I feel bad for the man.  I've been a loyal Democrat for decades.  Still, he needs to do what's best for the country.  He needs to insure that Democracy not only survives, but thrives, and if that means getting out of the race, then that's what he as to do.  Let's be honest, he's done an outstanding job.  He can still be a revered older statesman and still wield a lot of power.  It's better to resign yourself to being a sage, than to go down a loser.

Sunday In the Park with George

 Easter Sunday, and the sun is shining here in Central PA.  Temps are supposed to climb into the mid 60s (F), but alack and alas, clouds will be moving into the region.  Tomorrow the showers will start and Tuesday there will be rain.  Over an inch is predicted.  

One of those things I find fascinating is that Christians who have gone to sunrise services in Central PA will see the sunshine as a sign, while Christians in Cincinnati are lamenting the fact that their Easter services were marred by heavy rains.  Too many Christians don't stop to think about weather patterns, yet they have convinced themselves that everything is according to God's will, or plan, which means the weather comes under his... jurisdiction, so to say.  This is just one of the issues they refuse to deal with, ignoring the bigger picture because it fails to fit in with what they want to believe.

Anyway, I get to work today.  The customers who show up will either be Asians, or non-Christians, or those who put looking at appliances over religion.

You've got to be Kidding Me

 It's sunny here in Central PA.  The temps are a bit cooler than yesterday.  Our high today is only to reach the mid 60s (F), and the highs will continue to decline as the days move on.  Keep in mind that for the next few days we are still in winter.  Spring arrives on the 19th this year because it was a leap year, but don't expect it to bring a big change in the weather.  We are a degree or so warmer than we were last spring, and that will most likely continue into the foreseeable future.

I didn't really do too much yesterday.  A bit of this and that.  

Mostly, what I did, was observe Lily, the lady of the house, and she's not nearly the invalid she plays.  Her biggest problem is that thing I call a boobly cyst on her wrist.  It was something that was more of an inconvenience than anything else, something that didn't need to be surgically removed because of her age.  Now, however, over the past few days it's become swollen, filled with fluid, and it is causing her pain.  She has no problem drinking, and her appetite is strong, she just doesn't want to walk.  My Vet recommended a Mobile Vet, however they are on vacation until Monday, in fact it seems as though the few other Mobile Vets in the area are also closed and getting her into the car is virtually impossible.  As I said, she has no problem eating or drinking, just in using stairs or walking for an extended period.  This means, as you might expect, the floor of the writing room is covered with pee pads.

Quick update on the Vet situation:  Mid State Vets sent me an email, they do not service my area, so I'm going to need to load Lilly into the car and take her to the Vet on Monday or Tuesday.  You've got to be kidding me.

Anyway, while I was out back with invalid yesterday, I snapped a picture of these.

And you've no doubt heard that the Orange Anus has had his porno trial delayed until April because the Justice Department only recently turned over around 15,000 additional documents which may have little to no impact on the case.  You've got to be kidding me!  For quite some time people have been throwing out excuses for our Attorney General, saying that Garland is just being cautious, that we're not aware of things going on behind the scenes.  The more this happens, however, the more I'm inclined to believe that he is just incompetent. Now, I don't know about you, but I've always felt he got the job not because of his superior qualifications, rather it was compensation for not getting a vote on being a Supreme Court Justice.  If that's the case, then this his appointment was a terrible miscalculation.

It's in the Cards

 So, we've hit Wednesday.  Is anybody suffering from a mid-week crisis?  Hope not.  For those who work, this is also your Hump Day, though I suspect that for many of you the relevancy of that is slowly fading.

We had a bright red sky this morning.  The day, itself, is supposed to be be nice: temps in the 40s (F) clouds scuttling across the sky; not overcast.  I'd bet I'm not the only one who feels endless days of cloud cover are a great way to catch up on your sleep with lots, and lots of cat naps.

Usually, while I'm sitting here typing this out, I'm also making a list of things needing to be done, and, I might add, hoping to be accomplished during the day ahead.  Yesterday, much was done.  Out of a list of 7 items, only one wasn't finished.  I blame that on my decision to get a haircut.  That took up more time than I was expecting.  Today's list, because I did so much yesterday, is smaller.  Now, isn't that nice.

Since The Body in Motion has begun to work its way through my readers and editors, I'm prepping my first book, The Body on the Lawn, for my narrator.  What's really happening is that it's getting another layer of polish.  Nothing major, just clarifying who's saying what to whom.  Also, any and all sets of lyrics are being removed.  Unless you're super famous, most musicians don't mind the use of the occasional line or two, however, once a narrator speaks them out loud they become a performance, and that requires a royalty payment.  Since that can be pricy, the lyrics are going away.  

When I was younger, I used to play around with Tarot cards.  I would have a friend shuffle the cards and then I'd lay out one of several patterns.  It didn't take long for me to realize there was a lot of ambiguity in the futures the cards portend.  That being said, there are good cards and bad cards.  The Five of Cups is not one of the good cards.

Why talk about Tarot cards?  Well, it seems that last night on Fox, Jesse Watters had an English Tarot card reader as a guest, and he asked her to just pull one card from the deck to forecast Trump's 2024, and she pulled out the Five of Cups.  Ominous, much?  Looks like it's in the cards that the Orange Anus is going to have a very bad year, and, by extension, I'd say the same thing applies to the Republican party.  First Colorado, and then Maine have banned the Moral Degenerate from the primary ballot.  While that hasn't happened in Pennsylvania, a motion was filed in court to keep Trump's fellow insurrectionist Scott Perry off of the ballot.  Now, I don't know if Scotty's had his cards read yet or not, but I'd be pretty sure that if he has, he, too has found himself holding the Five of Cups.  To be honest, the first thought that went through my head when I saw this was: "finally, something the Cultist might believe in."

Branching Out

 We had a freeze warning last night, however the temps only dropped down to 38 (F) here.  There's another warning for tonight.  There are those who jump the gun when it comes to their spring planting here in Central Pa, so these are nights when they need to cover their seedlings.  The fact that they should have waited probably occurs to them, not that it's going to make any difference.  If they planted too early this year, they most likely did the same thing last year, and will do the same thing next year.

Being that tomorrow's temps are supposed to also be on the cool side and I'm not scheduled to work, I am planning on painting more of the trim in my house.  There is also a border in the bathroom that needs to be taken down prior to painting that room.  That's a chore I'm not looking forward to doing.  Standing on a ladder with a steamer is not something that I look forward to doing.

Remember that peach tree that was growing so crookedly?  I cut it back so there was only a thin stump sticking out of the ground for one reason:  New Growth.  I'm sure some thought that was a terrible thing to do, that the tree was not going to survive.  Well, I took this picture this morning.  Just look at all the new growth.  I will have to pick up a bag of topsoil to nestle around those new branches.

And, speaking of branching out, Ronnie DeSantis is in Japan because he's an undeclared candidate for president.  He truly represents the Republican heart: selfish through and through.  There are many problems in the Sunshine State.  Flooding in Fort Lauderdale for one, that dumb Ronnie believes his minions are taking care of... they aren't, at least not to the satisfaction of many of the residents.  What Ronnie's obsession is proving over and over again is that in the real world, he is dumber than a doornail.

And Nancy Mace, a GOP rep from South Carolina said the ugly truth out loud regarding abortion.  Republicans are not reading the room.  Not that any of us will find that surprising.  Republicans have never read the room, it has always been far easier for them to cater to the group they believe will hand them the most votes.  That's why they kiss the ass of the NRA.  It's never been about reading the room.  That would imply that there is some intelligence  there.  Case in point:  Marjorie Taylor Green, who makes Ronnie DeSantis look like a certified genius..

Drama

 Good morning, afternoon, or evening.  The good news for today is that the temps here in Central PA are supposed to top off in the mid to upper 40s (F).  This is so much better than those Christmas days when the temps bottomed out down near 0 (F).  

I've been thinking lately that some of Biggie's midnight bathroom breaks have more to do with getting a biscuit rather than the pressure of a full bladder, more of a bad habit than anything else.  Last night I put my theory to the test.  A little over an hour after he was on the bed, I felt the weight change (he weighs 116 lbs.) and the ker-thump of his paws hitting the floor.  Instead of getting up, I just lay there.  About 20 minutes later, he got back on the bed and slept through the rest of the night without any problems.  I'm suspecting my theory is correct.

There are certain loud voices complaining about Babylon's failure at the box office, claiming that audiences are more interested in going to see a Marvel film rather than a good drama.  While these people are somewhat right, they're missing the point entirely.  It's very rare for audiences to flock to the movies to take in a good drama,.  With all of the freaking drama around us, why would anyone spend money to expose themselves to even more.  This has always been the case.  If you don't believe me, spend some time looking over box office grosses for dramas for the past 30 years.  Dramas are simply not popular.

And, speaking of movies, rather than waste time at Babylon, I went to see Avatar, The Way of the Water last evening.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  The movie is filled with eye candy that's simply amazing at times.  The story's good, there's even drama between two different fathers and their sons.  There's even a bit of a Titanic moment.  Three hours and 20 odd minutes went by very fast.  

And now, for the Drama.  Republicans were praying that the George Santos revelations, that he's a lying sack of shit, were going to go away.  They're getting worse.  His claim to being Jew-ish took a terrible turn yesterday when forms he sent to Jewish groups had him claiming to be a proud Jewish American, and this from a Catholic boy.  Even Tulsi Gabbard is questioning his integrity (stop laughing).  I'm guessing she knows how badly this is going to effect Republicans in the long run.

Evidently, on numerous occasions copies of confidential documents were made, and taken to the White House, and disbursed to members of the private sector.  People are wondering if these are the papers Mark Meadows was burning in his office fireplace.

Trump's taxes will be released to the public on Friday.  

More drama to arrive this afternoon.

Not True

 Happy Mother's Day!  Just think, if the Republicans get their way there will be so many, many more of you!

Here in Central PA the rain has stopped! The forecast was for between 3 and 5 inches.  Up here in Enola, we definitely got at least 5.  I know this because I had water in my basement.  For those who don't know, my basement is like a dry riverbed in Arizona, when we get a lot of rain it floods, and because I have a 117-year-old stone foundation, and because not level (higher in the back, lower in the front), water will run in from the back and out at the front.  Literally, a stream runs through it.

And in spite of the rain, I was busy at work yesterday.  People bought carpet installations. A customer asked to sign up for a credit card (I never ask), I got a measure, and I had a $4000 sale.  Management should be happy with me for at least a week.  

Today, breakfast is healthy.

I saw where Mitch McConnell said, "there may be a nationwide ban on abortion."  He believes this because he also believes that these midterms are going to follow the same route other midterms have followed: since the Democrats won the presidency, the Republicans will pick up seats in the House and Senate.  Conservatives have always believed their own lies, and there are a lot of them.  Like their belief, proven by Reagan's landslide reelection) that there is a massive, silent majority of conservatives in America.  Not true.  Otherwise, wouldn't need to rely on the electoral college to put someone in the oval office.

They believe Americans suffer from short term memory loss, that the events of January 6 will have little or no effect.  Not true.  Even though they continue to downplay that attempted coup, Republicans like Tom Rice are speaking out in debates against Trump.  If you get a chance, watch that little video, it's gotten hundreds of thousands of views in just a few hours.

They believe Americans will forget comments such as the one Amy Coney Barrett made in her brief defending the overthrow of Roe v Wade, that as a country we need "a domestic supply of infants."  Not true.  Their religion does not allow them to believe that women are not vessels, they're not cattle, and they are not breeders, but human beings, each with a mind and a will of her own.

This morning, as I was reading McConnell's comments in my Newsweek feed, the inference was made that his and other Republicans beliefs were no longer a certainty, that they were no longer insured to take back both the House and Senate.  This is true.  The midterm results so far are not a joyful celebration of their return to power, rather they decry the struggle Republicans will face just to keep from losing the power they have.

Bummerland

Well a happy Thursday to you all.  Here in Central PA we have rain... lotsa rain.  In fact, we're stuck in a band of rain moving north, and while I'm not going to get another 7 inches, the possibility exists for at least 4 more.  My lawn continues to grow... fast.  Since I'm off on Tuesday, I'll have to drag out my little electric mower and once again shear it off before it becomes a field.  If I had a little more land, I might consider buying a goat or two.

Normally, as the weather gets colder the leaves begin turning colors... well, here they turn yellow.  The leaves on my river birch rarely change color, they simply fall.  And so far, while we've had temps down in the 60's (F) at night, there is no sign of Fall actually arriving.  With that being said, this article in the Washington Post came as no surprise.  One of our seasons is getting longer, while the other 3 are all getting shorter.  We may have celebrated the autumnal equinox, however when autumn will actually arrive is still in question?  late October perhaps?

And, as climate change continues to effect the world, remember, when things get to bad for people they will move.  Of course, the idea of a group of people migrating because climate change has made their lives impossible  is something Conservatives never consider, especially the faux Cracker Jack Crazies, mostly because what's happening in Guatemala is way outside their sphere of Consciousness.  Perhaps if they weren't so focused on their 'me' principle, you know what I'm talking about.  "If it doesn't effect me, it's no concern of mine."

Between 6 and 7 inches

 Holy Crap!  I can't believe I forgot we started a new month yesterday.  That fact slipped my mind completely.  I even forgot to flip my Red Hot calendar over to meet the new ginger.  Just where was my mind?  Well, probably thinking up the rain.  Remember when I said Ida was forecasted to pass us to our south?  Wrong.  That bitch changed her mind and went right over top of us.  While doing so, she dropped a lot of torrential rain.  A lot.  Now I know some of you are wondering just how much a lot of rain is, so I'll tell you.  Here in Central PA we received between 6 and 7 inches (152 - 178 mm).   I also suspect there are those of you out there thinking to yourselves "between 6 and 7 is about average."  Perhaps if your measuring bananas, but when it comes to rain, those figures are humongous.  Believe me, I know.  I came home from work to find 3 inches of water in my basement.

And, then there's Texas... and the Supreme Court that was loaded by Liar #45 and the Republicans, a minority group desperate to dictate how Americans live their lives.  While these Cracker Jack Crazies are now dancing, they fail to realize they have put themselves directing into the crosshairs of a majority of Americans.  You have to remember, they are the party of the Selfish, whose favorite pronoun is 'my;' my money, my taxes, my religion.  And they are a minority group, and they are shrinking.  Their actions will not bring about the results they so cravenly want.
